Six parking spaces available

I am sitting at the concession stand watching a girls' softball game at Dixon. Middle Field is empty. There  is a baseball game at Wildcat.

Heads up, Folks. There are only six parking spaces available in the lot.

Gee, wonder whatever became of LeboFields "Field of Dreams?"

http://lebofields.blogspot.com/2012/04/field-of-dreams.html?m=1

This one was after the McNeilly Field(s) of Dreams and the Twin Hills Field of Dreams and the Rock Pile Indoor Field of Dreams.

Each pie-in-the-sky proposal ended up costing taxpayers big bucks and despite the Dave's having their grandiose dreams dashed, young Lebo athletes seem to develop into competitive athletes.

Elaine, Walt Whitman is with you today, Poem in your Pocket Day, 4/24/14:

A child said What is the grass? fetching it to me with full hands;
How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any more than he.

I guess it must be the flag of my disposition, out of hopeful green stuff woven.

Or I guess it is the handkerchief of the Lord,
A scented gift and remembrancer designedly dropt,
Bearing the owner’s name someway in the corners, that we may see and remark, and say Whose?

Or I guess the grass is itself a child, the produced babe of the vegetation.

Middle Field has to be empty when there is a game on Wildcat for SAFETY reasons. Just an FYI.

6:13 you're mistaken. According to Bendel's evidence if we turf... two sporting events can occur simultaneously. Hahahahahahahahahaha... don't you just love those commissioners and their grasp of the facts and focus on kids safety.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

I just learned that the editor of synturf.org has this background:

Mirfendereski received his law degree from Boston College Law School. He holds also a Ph.D., M.A.L.D. and M.A. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He received his B.A. in Government, cum laude, from Georgetown University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

But Mt Lebanon knows better...

In case you have new readers, Elaine, and since Mt Lebanon doesn't have a Health Department, here is another informative youtube regarding the health risks to children, athletes, spectators, and neighbors on synthetic fields.

I think concerns about synthetic turf should also be shared with the Allegheny County Council members.

Elaine, cars were parked on the grass !

6:13 PM, so turfing the two fields will make it safer?

Never said it would make it safe. Common sense should tell one that when high schoolers are playing they can hit the ball pretty far. You made the comment and inferred there was an issue with the field being open. Those terrible, awful people closed a field so someone doesn't get hit with ball...imagine that!

Thanks for your reply, 5:32 PM. The selling point to turfing Middle and Wildcat is that it would create more playing slots. With only two fields being used, regardless of what their ages were, only 6 parking spaces were available with just 2 fields being used. People were parking on the grass and regularly do. Get it yet? Or do I need to break it down some more for you?

Middle schoolers regularly hit balls into the overlapping outfields at Wildcat/Middle, so you're not telling people anything new.
Bendle offered some absurd presentation that by turfing these two spaces suddenly we'd be able to get 60% more games in.
Turf or grass with Middle or HS Schoolers playing soccer, lacrosse or baseball you not running two different games simultaneously.
So why not improve the grass at WC/M and create at practice field or younger player field at Robb Hollow, if more slots are the goal?

Maybe I need to break it down for both of you. The oldest kids that play on Middle are 12. Big difference in power between 12 and 15-18, which would be the high schoolers. So therefore, when the high school plays their games, which are typically much earlier than rec games, no one is permitted to play on Middle Field. It isn't the other way around.

Since you can't seem to grasp the concept of more slots, it is because the turf doesn't need rest. It isn't affected by weather or use. This allows more playing time. Following along?

The parking is lacking because of the new items for the pool, but of course, that is conveniently left out of the analysis.

6:40 PM, parking on the grass has been going on long before the pool project.

6:40, two baseball or softball games can simultaneously go on at WC/M for 12 year olds.
Two simultaneous soccer or lacrosse games that require a 100 yard fields cannot be played there.
Turfing does nothing to increase the size of the fields so your BS claim of a 60% increase of games slots is bogus.
There is a slight increase in field availability after a rain does increase a bit, but as Stephenson pointed out, there weren't that many rainouts and the high school stadium wasn't being used in January/February.

Yes 6:40 break it down for us.
If you can play two simultaneous games at Wildcat/Middle on turf, why can't you play two simultaneous games on grass?

Are you trying to tell people half of scheduled games at the fields were cancelled due to soggy conditions?
Baldderdash!
