Those courageous individuals saved potentially hundreds of lives. During this exercise, officials ask you to show that same bravery and courage in helping your fellow work associates, students, teachers, faculty, and staff to seek a survival mentality. We honor Flight 93’s courage and bravery by practicing this drill. Seminole County holds those men and women that lost their lives on September 11 in the highest regard. Our prayers continue to be with all of the families and loved ones that lost someone on that date. And to those brave souls on Flight 93 who saved other’s lives – there is no thank you or gratitude that would ever be enough for their ultimate sacrifice. May God bless the United States of America.

Thank you for your participation.

Brian McFeeley, Mt. Lebanon High School Principal, was just recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. At this time it’s inoperable because it has spread to his liver. He plans to do everything possible to fight the cancer and has begun chemotherapy treatments. This site was created to support Brian, his wife Keary, and their two boys Colin (14 years old) and Adam (13 years old). The site will provide updates, fundraisers, donation suggestions, etc. Use the links below or the Home drop down menu to navigate through the site.

“The status quo is going to change,” said DeMarco shortly after being named the new chair of the Republican Committee of Allegheny County. “I ran for this seat because what was happening was unacceptable. The sole mission of the county party is to field candidates for local office, and we have been a dismal failure. That needed to stop.”

That's an understatement, especially here in Mt. Lebanon. No R's running for school board, and only one R running for commissioner. The other two wards have D's running unopposed.
What an embarrassment. Glad I made the switch.

Good afternoon Everyone,

I hope this message finds you well.

As you are all aware, the Mt. Lebanon Commissioners have voted annually to spend tax payers’ money to receive a SHOOTING Setback SAFETY WAIVER from the Pennsylvania Game Commission so that they can discharge guns in unknown locations in our parks and in private yards through out our community. If they don't hear from citizens against it, they will likely blindly continue the program. Commissioner Fraasch has been the only one over recent years to vote against this program because of the obvious Safety Issue it presents and this is her last year on the Board.

The topic of Deer Management is currently scheduled for the commissioners discussion meeting on June 11th at 6pm.

There is no place within our densely populated community that qualifies under the Game Commission's 150 yards set back safety requirement to shoot guns at animals; Our commissioners request and receive a permit from the State to WAIVE THE HUNTING SAFETY SETBACK REQUIREMENTS so that they can hire outside contractors to shoot rifles without any Safety Setbacks in our public parks and in private yards with permission from only the yard owner!

Use of our tax money to discharge high powered rifles to kill deer around our homes is an accident waiting to happen - Human Error with a gun can happen!

Further, isn't it ironic that the same company that says Mt Lebanon should shoot deer, gets PAID to shoot deer? Where's the Oversight??

Other organizations who have suggested alternatives to shooting have been ignored.

Moreover, while they will have you believe that shooting deer is the answer to everyone's issues who complain about seeing deer, science has proven that the rebound effect is real; i.e. once you reduce a population unnaturally, the deer have more food and will have multiple births; i.e. more deer - further other deer just infill where the others were shot.

Let the COMMISSIONERS know you're against the continuation of this Dangerous, Expensive program - They assume everyone is happy with this program ... let them know you're not! We also have one newer commissioner, Craig Garella, who replaced Dave Brumfield last year. Let him know what you think of the program.... DON'T LET YOUR VOICES GO UNHEARD!

Please Speak during public comment at 8:00 pm at the upcoming Commissioner meeting on June 11th.

As a former Republican from Mt. Lebanon, I think I can explain why there were no protests after Raja lost.

The Mt. Lebanon Republican Committee is a joke. Last I heard, they forgot to find candidates to run for Mt. Lebanon School Board, and two seats on the Mt. Lebanon Commission. The R's were focusing solely on another Raja campaign, his third attempt to get elected.

I am still on the Republican mailing list and laughed when I saw a postcard with Commissioner McLean and former Commission Kluck. They had no other Republicans in office to endorse Raja. Matt Kluck was Raja's campaign manager. Ward 3 Commissioner Steve McLean is not running again, so the Democratic candidates for Wards 1 and 3 have no opposition. Ward 5 Republican running is Bill Hoon. Again.

I ran in the 2011 Primary against Joe DeIuliis, the guy who had a For Sale sign in his yard. The Lebo Republican Committee is filled with a bunch of good ol' boys and don't have a clue as to what is going on. They have been known to forget about cross filing for School Board. Heck, I had to explain to McLean that he would receive a stipend as a commissioner. I'll never forget when Steve yelled over to Andy Reinhart, "Hey, Andy! Did you know that we get paid for this job?" So embarrassing.

Then there was the Ward 4 election, where the Republican candidate turned down any help because he thought he could win on his own merits. Great in theory.

The author described the day after Iovino's win as peaceful with no angry mobs or protests. I think they were just clueless.

Update April 16, 2019 9:43 AM Below is the Ward 1 Absentee Ballot. Ward 1 is Raja's ward. No Republican candidate listed. In fact, lots of blank spaces on the Republican ballot.
We just completed season six and there is no end in sight. DeNicola now wants to kill deer in Williamsburg Park. He is suggesting trap and bolt but it sounds so much better when he calls it "non-traditional
lethal management activities in very tightly developed areas (i.e., capture and euthanize)."

DeNicola is claiming four years, but we have actually had SIX killing seasons of high powered weapons in Mt. Lebanon. Don't forget Merlin the Magnificent who got in so much trouble when he used the trap and bolt method.
Proposed sewer ordinance is unfair to owners in Mt. Lebanon

Mt. Lebanon property owners need to be aware of a pending sanitary sewer ordinance that will force us into large expenditures for no beneficial reason. The ordinance, currently being considered by our commissioners, would require, before a simple plumbing permit or the sale of any property is approved, a video camera inspection of the home’s sanitary sewer by a certified NASSCO (National Association of Sewer Service Contractors) contractor.

The property owner would be forced to proceed with any repairs/replacement dictated by the inspection. The stated purpose of this ordinance is to prevent groundwater infiltration from seeping through cracks or root penetrations into the sanitary sewers. The following key points must be noted:

• There is no law, consent order or legal mandate requiring this ordinance.

• No scientific data has been presented that proves groundwater is seeping into residential sewer laterals through cracks.

• The vast majority of Mt. Lebanon homes are older and have terra cotta clay drain piping that is subject to cracks and root penetrations at joints, making these homes almost certain to fail any inspection.

• This ordinance could cost each property owner $10,000 to $20,000, or more, for every plumbing permit or property sale.

Make no mistake, this is a big deal. If 75 percent of Mt. Lebanon’s 11,000 homes require $10,000 to $20,000 each in replacements, this ordinance will have cost property owners $80 million to $120 million for repairs for which there is currently no state or federal mandate and which have not been shown to have any beneficial effect whatsoever.

Property owners should e-mail the commission at commission@mtlebanon.org and express their dissatisfaction. Even more important, they should attend the commission’s upcoming meetings at 8 p.m. on March 12 and March 26 in the municipal building. Speak out against this massive overreach by our elected officials.

Paul Grandy
Mt. Lebanon school board member takes stance against guns. Bill Cooper, (yes, Buddy J., he is a registered Democrat) was the only school board director who voted against the new weapons policy, which prohibits weapons and guns on campus, with a few exceptions. If you get a chance to read the article, be sure to read the comments, as well.

Fawn Lebowitz, (related to Larry?) left a snarky comment about eliminating starter pistols, spray paint guns, and hot glue guns. Don't forget staple guns, Fawn.

I wonder how Bill Cooper feels about Timmy warning parents about keeping their kids on sidewalks while Tony DeNicola's crew is out there shooting high powered weapons to kill those ferocious deer.

Remember the Walk on Washington Road? That was widely supported by parents and students.
Another shamAnother sham. The 2018-2019 Final Archery Report has been published. (Saved in Google Docs). Mt. Lebanon paid $8,000 to have 30 deer "harvested." That comes to $266.67 per deer killed by volunteers. And as one might expect, "SWMS recommends that the municipality continue to include archery hunting as part of the deer management program."

The good news is that sixteen deer were donated to feed people, at a cost of $4,266.72. That would buy quite a bit of meat from Shop 'N Save. The flip side is that volunteers -either hunters or property owners got to keep 14 "harvested" deer. Doesn't sound like there are any donors in this equation.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2395310382514169324.post-81966584934191340962019-02-25T09:46:00.000-05:002019-02-25T16:51:55.191-05:00A Month of GoodbyesYou have all probably heard that Susan Fleming Morgans, the Public Information Officer, is retiring on March 8. I am so over Mt. Lebanon. There is life in Florida. There are no state income taxes, parking meters, or garages that charge to park. Recycling, including glass, is once a week. Garbage collection is TWICE a week. Yard waste is every Wednesday. Property taxes are VERY low. Gasoline is cheap. They don't worry about scary deer. They coexist with bears, alligators, and snakes. There are no overpaid, snobbish public information officers. Another thing that I am over is the Ward 4 Commissioner. He continues to be a menace on the roads. But you elected him! No goodbyes from that dude.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2395310382514169324.post-78954895894174328872019-02-08T18:26:00.003-05:002019-02-08T18:26:50.558-05:00Hitchhiker Brewing Files Cross ClaimHitchhiker Brewing Files Cross Claim on Lawsuit
It is kind of difficult to pinpoint the exact location of the darker blue areas by overlaying the maps. But considering the number of houses built before 1950, with most houses built before 1980 in Mt. Lebanon, it might be worth further investigation.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2395310382514169324.post-33650150180988204362019-01-31T17:44:00.000-05:002019-01-31T17:44:19.249-05:00Jan is gone and there is no fake budgetDo a search for fake budgets here, and you will understand. We have also had fake-fake budgets in the past. Jan Klein would come up with a fake budget so that the school district could file for Act 1 Exceptions. That would allow the school board to raise taxes above the index. This means the district will not be able to raise taxes by more than the 2.3 percent index — or 0.56 mills — for 2019-20. The most taxes could go up for the next school year would be by $56 per $100,000 of assessed value.

Coincidently, our superintendent didn't get whopping increases as he had in the past, our finance director retired, new auditors have been contracted to audit the books, the Audit and Finance Committee was reinstated, and no more Century of Excellence Capital Campaign.
My street was littered with 2 liter bottles, milk cartons, and whatever else my neighbors had in their recycling cans. Through no fault of their own, the wind carried all their lightweight recyclables and trash cans everywhere. No more glass to add weight to the receptacles. Wind and the new program are not a good mix.

Here is the new pilot program as stated in this week's Administrative Report.
Personally, I can't be bothered to sort out my recyclables in four separate bins - three for Michael Brothers and one for Waste Management. I take my newspapers to the school, so that would be five bins altogether. Oh wait. I recycle my batteries at the Municipal Building and bulbs at Home Depot. What does that add up to...seven bins? No thanks. I am sorry to say this, but I am giving up on recycling glass and plastics.

This beauty has no wheels, no locking handles, and no attached lid. Nothing for "us" to break. Since we are hauling more garbage to the curb (think glass), chiropractors will love this suggestion. Raccoons will thank us. And think of all the exercise we will get chasing lids that are rolling down the street on a windy day. If you're lucky, that lid will be driven over and flattened beyond repair.

Life just keeps getting better and better here.

Update: 10:03 PM On the front of the 2019 Solid Waste & Recycling Collection Guide, I see a can with wheels and a hinged lid.
