Update September 4, 2018 12:19 PM Here is Timmy's semi-annual warning for killing deer in our densely populated community. Isn't it ironic that parents and certain school board directors have issues with School Resource Officers carrying guns in our schools, but there is no outcry from those who have concerns with weapons being discharged in undisclosed locations and parks? The killing will be done during daylight hours with parks remaining open.

Dear Mt. Lebanon School District Families, 

In our ongoing effort to keep you apprised of local issues, I am sending you information that I received from the Mt. Lebanon Municipality concerning the controlled archery hunt they will conduct from September 15 through January 26 with a break between November 24 and December 25. I have attached a letter from Assistant Municipal Manger Ian McMeans with details about the program and a link to more extensive information on the Municipal website at http://www.mtlebanon.org/2114/Deer-Management-Information. This same information is also being shared with all of our principals, teachers, and support staff. Please do not hesitate to contact the Mt. Lebanon Municipality or Mt. Dear Parent/Guardian and Students:

I am pleased to share that as a result of our ongoing partnership with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department a School Resource Officer (SRO) has been once again assigned to Mt. Lebanon High School for the 2018-19 school year and beyond.  Mt. Lebanon Police Officer Bryan Henley will serve in this role. In addition to all required trainings for veteran Mt. Lebanon Police Officers, Officer Henley is also certified as an SRO by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) and well as being qualified to provide ALiCE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) emergency response training. 

Officer Henley has been transitioning to the high school over the past two weeks while participating in various staff in-service programs and will officially begin his new role on the first day of school.  SRO Henley will continue in a similar capacity as the previous SRO who temporarily joined the high school this past spring. He will serve as a presence in the high school throughout the regular school day and strengthen relationships with students, parents, and staff.  The presence of the officer is not in response to any specific issue but rather a continuation of the program which began in April to improve upon the many safety measures already in place.

Delinquent School Tax List for 2017

Last night, the school board approved, once again, the list of liened properties to be available to the public.

There are the usual characters on the list, who habitually have liens on their properties year after year.

I feel sorry for some, but for others who never pay their taxes - shame on you! For one in particular, I single handedly spent enough at your shop to pay your damn taxes. Too bad you are such a jerk.

This is an important notice from LeboALERT. 

Drivers/pedestrians, be careful Uptown. Starting 8/14, there will be more policing, warnings & enforcement due to PennDOT traffic safety grant. ----------------------------------------------

What is interesting is that State Farm also gave us money over a year ago for those Look Up Lebo banners that were at some intersections. Those banners are MIA now. An officer told me that only one person had been cited for jaywalking. I guess the municipality needed more money since they are spending $10 million to protect our salt.

School Board is back from Summer Break UPDATED

The school board will continue their practice of public shaming with their

Publication of Listing of Liened Taxes – Annually the Board takes action to make the list of liened property taxes from the prior year for public view. The list is recommended for public view by the Superintendent. 

Timmy had his review on June 27, 2018 and will be getting his contracted 6% increase, resulting in a salary of $217,822. No mention of a bonus this year. Aww.

To be voted on at the next meeting:

School Resource Officer: RESOLVED, That the School Resource Officer Agreement between the District and the Municipality is approved in substantially the form presented, providing for a three-year term with the District reimbursing the Municipality for 65% of all costs incurred by the Municipality in providing the School Resource Officer, in amounts estimated to be $78,088, $84,193, and $91,414, respectively, in each year of the Agreement.

The good news is that the school district is a loving and caring board. They will be approving $100 for supplies for the homeless. This will come from a Federal grant.

Susan Morgans has been allotted thirty minutes to discuss the recycling changes. I have been looking at property in central Florida where the regular garbage is picked up twice a week while the recycling is picked up once a week. I asked the real estate agent what is the fee and is it single stream. She looked at me with a puzzled look and said that there is no additional fee for collection and that it is single stream. Florida doesn't have a state income tax and no local taxes, only county property taxes. The millage is quite low. Now I understand why people go there to retire.

Another agenda item is the discussion of the stormwater fee. That can only mean that there will be an increase. For now, the commission agenda states that they are considering the fee to be collected annually. Again, Florida doesn't charge for a rain tax like Lebo does. Also, there are no parking meters there. Crazy, huh?

For all the trolls out there, I am still remaining in Lebo, but I now know where I am going to move when I get the heck out of here.
