Also, the bid date is April 12 at 1:30. What about the $113.3 million from the Act 34 hearing? Celli got $6 million.
Can anyone explain the money difference of $27 million between the Act 34 board estimate of $113.3 million and the estimated bid value of $86 million from the RSMeans site? I know there are soft costs not included in the bid amount... but up to perhaps $27,000,000?

Elaine,
ReplyDeleteThis is a fascinating find. Do you think we can trust that the $86-million estimate is for our actual high-school project?
I ask because the page you linked to says it’s a sample. Is it possible that the figures, too, are just samples, the real estimates being reserved for paying subscribers?
I questioned that too, Tom. I really don't know what to think of it since it is labeled as a sample. I received an interesting anonymous comment and am hoping that it is resubmitted with a name.

According to the construction drawings, some of the new buildings are over old coalmines and pillars are being put into the ground all the way to the mine floor for support. I don’t think those pillars would be in the average construction estimates.

The $86 million cost estimate is taken from the PJ Dick 90% CD construction cost estimate from late last year...IT IS NOT THE TOTAL PROJECT COST ESTIMATE BY PJ DICK AT THE 90% CD COMPLETION OF $113.1 MILLION !
ReplyDeleteThe bids will represent only the CONSTRUCTION COST component, albeit the major component, of TOTAL PROJECT COSTS; so, if the lowest responsible bid comes in at $86 million, the SB cannot make a factual & honest statement like "..see, the project came in under $95 million" because the Kubit-Remely claims of $95 million were based on TOTAL PROJECT COST wishful thinking. To summarize, the PJ Dick construction cost estimate of $86 million equates to the PJ Dick total project cost estimate of $113.1 million.
To understand construction costing and the cost build-up bases, please go to the District website postings on the HS project and review the PJ Dick cost estimate updates that are featured on 2009 & 2010 powerpoint presentations.
