What is REALLY going on with the school board liaison appointment?

To bring everyone up to speed, I am sharing this link to Blog-Lebo.  None of this is making any sense to me.  What is really going on here?  I have filed RTKs and I have been told that all of my requests now require an extension beyond the five business days to determine if the records I am asking for, are indeed public information. So I will hear something within thirty days of today or sooner, after the lawyers review my Right To Know Requests. So much for transparency in our local level of government.

While we are waiting, let me remind everyone of this article that appeared in the Post Gazette three years ago. Some Mt. Lebanon residents ask for new high school

  1. "...Josephine Posti said that voting for either alternative at this point would in essence be voting for a referendum."

    Mmm, not so much.

  2. Based on the Post-Gazette article, it would seem that neither Mr. Brumfield nor Ms. Linfante would be the best commission liaison to the school board since they apparently made their feelings known about the high school renovation project three years ago.
It is the commission's job to look out for all of Mt. Lebanon, not just a part of it.

  3. I'm curious, just what is this liaison thing all about?
Is Mt. Lebanon so huge and disconnected that the commissioners and school board members never socialize, can never pick up the phone, or cell and communicate without there being a designated liaison?
If the purpose is for a member of each "governing body" to plan a strategy or present a unified message to their associates, then Posti and Linfante are good choices. If you like their policies/platforms thus far.
But if one is looking for innovation and and open mind, in mind opinion these are probably the worst people in either group to put together. Why do I think that you ask?
Wasn't it president Posti that advised graduating seniors to surround yourself with people that think like you?
Hardly an invitation to change the status quo!
And then we have Mrs. Linfante that stage a protest and tried to mock a "town hall" meeting of a group of her neighbors that were looking for solutions and answers for problems concerning local government. Stifling conversation hardly seems like a way to enlightenment and innovation.
My observation on the issue, love to hear from others agreeing or disagreeing.

  4. We are supposed to be having PUBLIC Joint Steering Committee meetings with the president and the vp of both government bodies, but for whatever reason, that isn't happening. Rumor has it that the SB president and vice president will only meet with Linfante.

In the PG, Posti is quoted as saying: "I think the goal would be to just dispel the perception that the two bodies don't talk to each other frequently." What she doesn't say is that it is not public.

  5. Two more points to consider. Remember this post from Real Lebo? My mother taught me never to lie. The "opposed citizen" was me. You can hear this exchange at the April 19, 2010 meeting here. April 19, 2010 board meeting.
Kristen Linfante can be heard about 3/4 of the way through the podcast. After she spoke, I provided an update in petition signatures as well as addressing Kristen's accusations. You can hear her interrupting me from the audience. I am going to ask again. What is REALLY going on with the school board liaison appointment?

  6. Mrs. Linfante, made a big deal out of her mother teaching her not to lie.
She spent quite a bit of digital "ink" making disparaging comments about you Elaine, the Concerned Citizens, James Fraasch and Matt Kluck.
Made quite a few smary public displays mocking residents that opposed the school district overreaching and spending money it didn't have. So now we're at a stage where the board/admin. has a budget shortfall. Just as Mr. Fraasch and others predicted.
When does Mrs. Linfante dish it out to those "liars" as she did to you Elaine?
You didn't put out a glossy mailer claiming the hugh school would most likely come in under $95,000,000!
You didn't claim that the school district would need to file for exemptions to Act 1 limits!
You didn't claim that the municipality could afford to build a sports complex on McNeilly Road!
It seems Mrs. Linfante's mother only gave her half of the lesson.
The most important part of the lessons is once you've been fooled, you should suspect everything the people say that got it wrong.
Wonder why Mrs. Linfante never made as big a public apology to you and the Concerned Citizens as she did when she mocked you?

  7. As recent as yesterday, Kristen doesn't apologize. They are always misunderstandings. It is amazing how she twists things.

  8. I guess another Right to Know is in order for yesterday's email to the commissioners with her disparaging comments about me. This is getting ridiculous.

  9. Here's a suggestion regarding liaisons for Mrs. Posti and Linfante.
How about "liaising" ;-) with your constituents.
Put up the things you would discuss with each other on an OPEN blog and find out what your constituents think of your ideas and plans.
Actually talk to the people and respect their opinions. Rather than tear them down because they disagree. People like Mr. Taylor, Mr. Rothschild, Mr. Fraasch, Mr. Matthews, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Ewing, Mrs. Stephenson and Elaine.
Seriously, what could members of the board and commission discuss that has to be top secret?
