Check out this petition

Just when I thought I had heard it all about Chick-Fil-A, this petition pops up. Mt Lebanon School District: Return all monies received from Chick-Fil-A "Sprit Night" fundraisers
Jan Loney started this petition three weeks ago. To date, there are 24 supporters.
Note to Pursuing Ketchup: Don't go to Chick-Fil-A for donations. There are 24 people who will want you to return their donation.

  1. I just Googled Jan Loney. Turns out she is a metalsmith and a jeweler. Me suggests that anyone who is offended by her views make a point of not patronizing her ventures. She needs to stick to her metalworking and art. This is simply nuts and to think that 24 other people agree with her is over the top. Come to think of it, this could be a good crop of future MTLSD directors.

  2. Jan might want to ask herself just who is making any kid feel inferior.

    Her petition is ridiculous.

  3. Yeah, those closed-minded bullies at Chick-fil-A. How dare they try to impose their views on others by demanding businesses who didn't agree with them shut down. Huh? That was the gay rights lobby? Hmm...well, how dare Chick-Fil-A spray paint hate messages on the buldings of other businesses. What? That was the gay rights folks? Well, surely Chick-Fil-A is in the minority...um, so they're really mainstream? So, I guess I would ask Loney--you sure you're protesting the right people?

  4. What I find the most humorous about this petition is that Ms. Loney believes that the School District can actually keep track of monies coming in. The Superintendent would tell Ms.Loney one thing at one meeting, and then report a different amount the next meeting. Jan Klein would say they are typical for this time of year. Larry would be excited about getting chicken nuggets. For sure, Elaine Cappucci would not revisit Chick-Fil-A.

  6. Birks would say that Corbett is to blame. Posti would tell Loney to file a Right To Know. Remely would say this is errors and omissions on maybe three or four different sides.

  7. Elaine,

Not sure about how wise it is to bash another resident for no reason.

Are you not putting Ms. Loney through the same thing that you accuse her of doing to Chick-fil-a.

Freedom of speech works both ways.

I'd rather not see things like this on your blog. It has very little to do with the issues of the district and municipality and steps over into social commentary.

Certainly, you are free keep the post up, but it detracts from all the other posts that have more substance.

    Something to think about.

  8. 7:12 AM, I know you mean well, but I have posted this petition just as I have posted Dave Franklin's artificial turf petition. It was put online to gather signatures, right? So, now people can sign the petition if they agree or not sign it if they don't. In my opinion, both petitions do nothing to improve the bottom line. The online petition which I supported was to cut spending and cap the renovation at $75 million. My remarks do not bash Ms. Loney. My comments were aimed at MTLSD and their inability to keep track of funds.

  9. Much ado about nothing.
I sort of agree with 7:12... That is sort of.
I see no reason for you not to publish news of the petition as a community "service". After all whether people agree with Lebocitizens" they do read it.
Locating the missing resident a few months back is evidence of that fact.
This whole Chik-fil-a thing is in my opinion nonsense and a distraction from real issues.
If Ms Loney wants to petition the district more power to her.
She's not evil, no more fruitler than the rest of us.
I'm moving on to real issues that are worthy of debate.

  10. 7:!2--Loney posted the petition publicly. At that point thereis no presumption of confidentiality, correct? And frankly, the petition itself is partisan, is it not? Using a corporation's generosity and willingness to assist a (allegedly) non-partisan entitiy like a public school? Stop being so damn sensitive.

  11. What a waste of time.

  12. Mt Lebanon SD is so in the hole, they should be prepared to take money from Satan himself, let alone organizations and companies that don't fit the liberal ideals of a few residents.

In my opinion, Chick-Fil-A is great. Their food is great and I've always had great service there. My only complaint is they're not open on Sunday.

  13. Jack only one issue with your comment. You refer to the school district as 'they.'

It's not they it's us or we are so far in debt. It's not their school district it's ours. Somewhere along the line that fact has gotten lost.
