I am very sorry to read this news. In the dozen or so times I've had to call the tax office with a question or concern, I found Mr. Ferguson to be very helpful and understanding.
ReplyDeleteCivil servants who are both "civil" and "servants," in the best sense of that word, are rare commodities, and in my opinion Mr. Ferguson was both. RIP.
Great point Mr. Gideon, and it is sad news.
ReplyDeleteWhile we are honoring Mr. Ferguson's service, there are a couple of ladies in the MTL tax office that in my opinion also seem to understand the meaning of civil servants.
John was an old friend, believe we first met in the late 60's. He was a great Treasurer and tax collector, eminently fair, even handed and helpful to many having problems. He was well read, very intelligent and had a wonderful sense of humor....ever notice the ever present twinkle in his eye ? He was a lovable character, from and with truly fine families. Yes, he will be sorely missed ! Ad Astra.
