There is a new blog in town. Just like all the other blogs that have come and gone in the past four years (four years on Saturday) I have been doing this, I am announcing this one too. It is called Lebo Citizen, not Lebo Citizens. I have nothing to do with this blog.
Check it out. It has a Real Lebo blog feel to it. Real Lebo was a blog run by Elaine Labalme and Kristen Linfante.
It is unfortunate that the anonymous bloggers have chosen a name so close to this blog. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
That's the spirit.
ReplyDeletePack up your troubles in your old kit-bag, and smile, smile, smile.
Seems like the anonymous owner could be the muni PIO, a mtl-rag co-worker or relative ?
ReplyDeleteI smell desperation. Thats the only reason for it.
ReplyDelete10:14 AM, I believe it will all make sense after the next commission meeting.
ReplyDeleteElaine
To me, the malapropism in their welcome is predictive. The mock-blog focuses on the "interleaving" of various social media sites...
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that this already un-funny dis-spirited blog will be "leaving" soon. There is only one "Lebo Citizens" blog for the truth(s) about local politics--and I am happily on it right now.

9:17 AM, I had to search your comment and found that it was a very popular World War 1 marching song to boost morale.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a war. Nor is this an effort on my part to boost morale.
Good luck with your blog.
Elaine
This is just pathetic. They are so unoriginal that they have to copy your name. Not off to a very good start, are they? I agree with 10:14, this reeks of desperation and they will do anything to try to lessen the influence of this blog in this town. They can only hope that their little blog will be half as successful as this one is. This blog is the best, most informative and useful blog in Mt. Lebanon. It has changed things for the better in this community and has proven that sunshine is, indeed, the best disinfectant. Keep up the good work, Elaine. You are making a difference and this town would be far worse without you in it.
ReplyDeleteConsider the timing of the new blog:
ReplyDelete1) Thirty day delays on right to knows
2) Illegal transfer of money from Public Works to Turf
Project
3) Nationwide attention to toxic turf
4) School district funding crisis
5) Sports group dirty work secrets spilled
I think the blog owner a sports group devotee, Mt Lebanon lifer, and bitter, stalker man.
Note to the stalker -- yes, it's illegal to stalk in PA.
"Sure the taxes are high, but hey, who cares? I don't. You can all comment on taxes if you'd like. To me? BORING!!!!"
ReplyDeleteDoes St. Clair Hospital have a good psychiatric ward? Maybe "Lebo Citizen" can do a blog post about it. Clearly this person is mentally disturbed.
The crazy in this town is now off the charts.
Odd how someone so enthused about all the wonderful things happening in the bubble won't share their name. Why do think that is?
ReplyDeleteAlittle IP sniffing and wham bam you have the owner... I won't release your name right now as I'll be kinder than you have EVER been to Elaine. So release your name and OWN you pathetic blog. And FYI you do NOT scare me. I'm 6'4", 278 lbs and played 4 years of Division 1 Football. You threats are nothing more than a laugh. I fear my 3 year-old more than you.
ReplyDeleteJust took a look and there appears to be another person that has been able to track down the owner's identity. Wonder how long they will keep it up. Funny how they go into length on the greatness of the donut shop opening. I thought Mt Lebanon was all in Mooch obola's healthy eating crap and donuts don't fit. Also that company has erased Christmas completely. They are the Not So Nice list this year. Elaine update your Google tags. Use Google against him.
ReplyDeleteThe blog has been removed.
ReplyDeleteElaine
I think we're all being punked. This new blog is making fun of Lebo and everyone who just wants to keep their head buried in the sand and not worry about silly things like taxes and change orders or whether or not our Commissioners or School Board is mishandling EVERYTHING. BORING! The Christopher Walken at Mineo's comment is making fun of MtL Magazine. The French Laundry comment is pure Lebo Cake eater. I think we should all sit back and prepare to laugh our a$$es off.
ReplyDeleteApparently people have gotten upset and in the spirit of keeping the peace I have deleted the blog.
ReplyDeleteTo 1:46PM: You had it right. And very good with the Walken pickup. The Dunkin' Donuts was directed at the new "French pastry" shoppe. Though their pastries are good. Maybe the "Lebocitizen" moniker hit too close to home for some.
ReplyDeleteSeattle Seahawks RB captures my feelings perfectly about the 36-hour mock-blog as well as my overall feelings about the increasing bizarre-ness in Mt. Lebo:

Why not register the trademark "Lebo Citizens"?
ReplyDeleteThe idea is to protect yourself from these kinds of things...
http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/how-to-register-your-blog-name-as-trademark.html
It would be interesting to know who is behind the use of the similar name. Perhaps an attorney? Is there a ore sinister motive playing itself out?
It's an interesting thought, but as Jessie Jackson once said, "You can beat me, but you can't defeat me."
I love these spell checkers...
ReplyDeleteMy comment should say, "...there another..."
not, "...there a ore..."
"Mr. E," please email me at EGillen476@aol.com. I need help with your suggestion.

Before it went away "Lebo Citizen" had a post from someone who wondered why the Blog owner, being a proud Mt. Lebanon fan, wasn't proud enough to identify himself (or herself). I wondered the same thing.
ReplyDeleteExcept for what seemed to be a deliberate attempt in branding to confuse the new Blog with Elaine's, and the curious lack of disclosure, I had no problem with it. The new Blog was obviously not going to compete in the arena of ideas, so it would not have had any impact here. And even if it had attempted to be a sounding board for alternative ideas - so what? The free market should be just that - free.
Hey pal, my advice, for what it's worth, is this: re-brand your Blog to avoid confusion with this one and have at it. It wasn't my cup of tea, and your "who cares" about high taxes was cute (I'll send you my tax bill if it'll give you any pleasure), but I would certainly not let a few negative comments deter you. (I'm assuming you didn't set up your Blog as a "straw man" in order to claim others in town knocked it down!)
Mr. Gideon, Sir, if you knew who was behind this blog I doubt that you would be a "happy camper" about it. There was a really good reason why it was Anonymous. I would out them but I don't want to see Elaine trashed for it. She's again in the middle. She needs to put up a graphic showing how many times she has heard the word "lawsuit" from various bullies including our commissioners.
ReplyDelete3:56 PM, I get trashed for many reasons. I don't mind if you out them.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you that I had to hire an attorney to protect my assets, thanks to Brumfield. Cost me what Deiseroth charged us for four Turf Project Task Force meetings.
Elaine
Jack:
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt that there are people in this town who are "gunning" for Elaine. She has provided a unique forum that permits a range of opinions to be published and read. She has also been public-spirited enough to question authority; and when someone has the "gall" to question authority in a public setting the "authority" may not like it. And that some residents threaten a lawsuit at the drop of a hat speaks to the efficaciousness of this forum.
It seemed to me that the "Lebo Citizen" Blog owner was deliberately trying to tweak Elaine's nose by choosing a name only one letter removed from "Lebo Citizens." But I didn't read anything on that Blog that seemed like a personal attack, and barring that if the guy wants to continue on with his "writing career" then it would be very un-libertarian of me to try and stop him, even if he should turn out to be an unqualified loud-mouthed SOB bully.
I think Elaine is right to allude to all the Blogs that have come and gone since she started this one. "Lebo Citizen" would probably faded into oblivion on its own merits. That the guy pulled it off so quickly leads me to believe he had other motives (or gal, as the case may be!).
3:56 I want to know who it was. If you're willing to share, email me at jcannon1775@verizon.net.
ReplyDeleteOr, 1:47 PM, Blogger removed it because it violated their policies.
ReplyDeleteElaine
If this blog is all about all the Mt. Lebanon news that fits to print, that no one else will talk about, I as well would love to know the name of the person behind that shadow blog! There's probably a shadow story that speaks volumes as well...
ReplyDelete- Jason M.
Jason M. and Jim C., I'm guessing they are voting on killing the deer right about now.
ReplyDeleteLots of hot topics at the meeting tonight, so there may be a big crowd at the commission meeting. Perhaps we will hear from 3:56 PM tomorrow.
Elaine
Jason - I, too, would like to know who the author was of the mock-blog. I have my guess but I need a confirmation from the IP investigator.
ReplyDeleteUntil then, Elaine, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'd like to say thank you so much for the resource you provide this community. Mt Lebanon really needs this blog and you are tireless in your efforts and responsiveness.
I know you are making Mt Lebanon a better place for those of us who would like greater transparency and fairness, among other things!
Thank you, Elaine!
Mary Edgerly
That is very sweet of you, Mary. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteElaine
A follow up on a few things.
ReplyDelete3:56 PM, I omitted Dave Franklin and Susan Morgans from the list.
I had filed a complaint with Google and had to submit photo ID. Thank you Google!
The French Laundry is located near San Francisco.
1:58 PM, you're full of crap.
Elaine
Jack... are you Merle Jantz?
ReplyDeleteThe blog was removed by Google.
