From Republic Waste Services:
Hello, as you all know we were delayed a day due to the new year’s day holiday and all Friday collections were scheduled to be done today. This morning we had a horrible ice storm that snarled traffic with many accidents, many trucks never ever reached their towns.
On Monday we will be going back to any town that did not finish and then going to get as much of the Monday collection as we can. Then Tuesday we will be doing the same thing finishing Monday then moving to Tuesday and so on. It is important that residents keep their trash out during this time as we cannot predict when we be by their address.
Rest assured we will come back to every area with the regular drivers that know where they have been and what still needs serviced. The important thing is no one has been injured to the point. So thank you for your patience…
Update January 4, 2015 11:22 AM There it is. The PIO doesn't strive to be first, just accurate.

Subject: LeboALERT: Due to ice storm/hol...

This is an important notice from LeboALERT.
Due to ice storm/holiday, trash pickup is behind. Sat pickup will be Mon, with early week pickups possibly delayed one day. Keep containers out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The PIO couldn't put out a LeboALERT because she had her hair up in curlers and was waiting for the closure of what she considers to be that low grade grocery Bottom Dollar in the Lebanon Shops.
ReplyDeleteWonder what it will be like when we have a few inches of snow on the ground and streets, with high winds and bitter wind chill factors ?
ReplyDeleteWill entire weeks of pick-up's be postponed and our streets become temporary landfills ? Anybody got a copy of the Republic contract ?
Very professional.
ReplyDeleteThis policy of "put your trash out anyway" doesn't work for me. The other times there have been delays in trash pickup, many cans in the community spilled and trash was strewn all over. I think the policy should be that they move trash pick up days back by 1 day.
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain WHY an entire street had their garage picked up except for one house? My neighbor has had their garbage left so often that they have been carrying it and putting with ours. I don't remember so many issues with garage collection before these guys can around.
ReplyDeleteIf you PAYT it'll get better... they'll promise.
ReplyDelete9:29, driving up Brucewood/Jefferson earlier this evening there was already trash on the sidewalks and in the streets that leaked from the trash bags. Because of the high winds that are predicted for tomorrow, I'm sure it will get worse.

This collection company really does suck. One weem they come at 6 am, the next week around 10.
ReplyDeleteIm just going to start dropping off my trash at Middle Field. It's already a toxic waste pit. Will it matter?
How are those new reassessments and subsequent higher taxes working out for ya?
ReplyDeleteIt's going to get better when they remove garbage collection expense off the municipal ledger and onto your checkbook directly with a PAYT fee.
Garbage collection has been poor since the new contractor was selected. Houses are routinely missed. Cans and lids end up in the street or driveways. Trucks block roads during the rush hours. Litter from half emptied cans blowing down the roads. Not good.
ReplyDeleteWhat Elaine is not telling her readers is that if it wasn't for residents who sent emails to the commissioners and the manager inquiring about the trash situation and asking about why no LeboAlert, there still would be no LeboAlert and Elaine would not have this post on her blog and everyone would still be left in the dark. The PIO manager (SM) is being paid $112,000 per year (including healthcare) and this is what we are getting for that $112,000. More residents need to take note and get up to those commission meetings and express their outrage, otherwise we are just going to keep getting what we're getting. It's sad that residents need to remind certain folks how to do their job that we are paying them to do. BTW, only 1 commissioner was kind enough to take her valuable time to respond to this situation.
ReplyDeleteNick M.
Absolutely, Nick. If you hadn't asked, we would still be in the dark. And when you say "her valuable time," it was Kelly Fraasch, the only commissioner who takes her role seriously.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nick and Kelly!
Elaine
Over the holidays I ran into Brumfield at a party and asked him about the rumors of PAYT being a done deal. He laughed and said that garbage collection was getting too expensive and PAYT would place the "buck" back onto the residents. I then asked if I took my garbage to my business would I still have to pay a "FEE" and the answer was "Of course!" I asked if the money saved and/or generated would be used to build an indoor lacrosse/soccer/football field and he laughed and walked away. Coaches are telling kids that it is going to be built. Either by the School District or by the Commissioners. We need to draft a letter stating it would be cheaper to pay for Brumfield's kid's college than all this lacrosse crap. Will taxpayers have to build a new olympic swimming pool when kid 2 gets into High School? The new indoor pool isn't "grand" enough!
ReplyDeleteNow now! There are NO taxes in LeboLand. They are Fees. You surely don't want to be the grinch that didn't pay their FAIR SHARE do you? In case you do, the best and fastest way to do that is to become a Brummie BFF. Look at his BFF across the street from him. He has a double lot and pays taxes on only one. A huge addition is added but somehow that isn't reflected in their property value. Now be on the other end and dare to say anti-Brummie things and even with NO changes to your property you get hit with an increase of 47%. You take off work and appeal it and the increases are rolled back only to have the School District fight you. You have to love LEBOLAND!!!! Not.
ReplyDeleteNo trash pick up today for my neighborhood. At this point: Republic -1, Blowing Trash +1.
ReplyDeleteHeard a new rumor at Bottom Dollar... The commissioners are voting to allow Republic a four month pass on garbage collections. Residents will have to carry their trash to Cedar Blvd and for $25 per Giant Eagle sized bag they can dispose of their garbage. Those that can't afford it will have to leave!
