Sleepy Hollow is considered a collector street and is not permitted to have block parties. Thanks to our former commissioners, Bonnie VanKirk (who wants taxpayers to pay for her deer to be killed), and Joe DeIuliis, Mt. Lebanon residents must now apply for permits and pay a $25 fee for block parties. The link has in bold:
Also, permits will not be granted for highway, arterial or collector streets. Because of the volume of traffic on these streets block parties cause unnecessary traffic restrictions and can present safety challenges to people residing along these streets. What is interesting is that this block is where a close relative of our PIO lives. This isn't the first time the rules were broken. My former commissioner lives on Roycroft. They were able to have block parties on Roycroft when she was commissioner.
Why does this surprise you? When Crystal & Brumfield have their Block Party all the traffic is forced on us on Gypsy which is PRIVATE! And not ready for ready regular traffic. Last year we had to keep the kids in because we feared for their safety. Our kids play on the road. But guess we all now have to get in our heads that we have a tiered system of laws. One for us "workers". One for those here illegally and one for our special politicians. Didn't I read on your blog that "certain" commissioners had sweet property assessments. Did the township/school district fight those under assessments? Sorry but I can't dare sign my name as Brumfield and his neighborhood buddies (bullies) act like 3rd graders.
ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow Road is a Ward 4 street in Brumfield's Ward.
ReplyDeleteWhich section of Sleepy Hollow is closed?
ReplyDeleteNear Brafferton and Old Farm.

It's between Fruithurst and Highvue.
ReplyDeleteThank you, 6:40 PM. I guess a Lebo CitizensALERT is in order.

Lebo[Citizens]ALERT:
Sleepy Hollow Road is closed between Fruithurst and Highvue for the PIO's family illegal block party. Please avoid this area when trying to go to the Mt. Lebanon Fireworks tonight. It sucks to be you.
Chief McD said no block parties on holidays because holidays are for the nation not the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteThis Block Party stuff gets me so mad! They close our street so a small group of my (younger) neighbors can drink beer and watch movies till midnight. Never once were we given an invite and several other older neighbors haven't either. The only way we know one is coming is the volleyball things along with the road barriers are dumped in my front yard. Being handicapped and unable to walk leaves me stuck in my house all day. Last year my wife had a heart stress test that Saturday and her friend wasn't able to move the heavy barrier so my wife had to walk to the house. Our friend said they actually sat and laughed at her. Others said they had to wake up at midnight to move their cars fearing they would get tickets for parking on the street. There should be a way for people to veto these.
ReplyDeleteWhy aren't Crystal or Gilkison on the list of restricted streets?
