Dan McNichol (R) Vote McNichol - Deer Management pro-kill
In Ward 3, Steve McLean (R) Email from Steve McLean pro-kill
Andy Reinhart (D) Email from Andy Reinhart AndyReinhart.com Mt. Lebanon Deer Management Issues
In Ward 5, Kelly Fraasch (D) anti-kill
William Hoon (R) anti-kill
In an email exchange I had with Andy Reinhart this morning, it is not clear to me what his position is on deer management.
Update October 15, 2015 1:35 AM I have heard that while deer don't bother Andy Reinhart personally, as a commissioner he would vote for sharpshooting. He doesn't think it poses a safety problem. If that is true, then I am seriously considering a write-in campaign. Is it an omen that I just looked outside my dining room window and saw the most beautiful buck crossing the street?

#Throwback Thursday |
Update October 15, 2015 9:10 AM I am going for it! I announced it on my website, www.lebocitizens.com Write-in campaigns are rarely successful, so I need everyone's help. Spread the word to your Ward 3 friends and relatives. This is the much needed third vote for the sharpshooting program to fail in January.
Update October 15, 2015 5:01 PM Remember the fawn with the arrow stuck in it on Segar Road?
This is what happens when our commissioners turn Mt. Lebanon into hunting grounds.
I just sent an email to Andy Reinhardt. We shall see what he has to say.
ReplyDeleteI posted it on his blog
Off topic, but not. I just added this to the deer archery related report on my website.
ReplyDeleteElaine
"Elaine: a poor baby deer stopped traffic on segar road this evening with an
arrow sticking out of its side!! This is horrible. It was reported by several to
police. A baby!"
People hunt down in Segar/Scrubgrass area. Don't know if it's legal but they do hunt down there.
ReplyDeleteNick M.
It's not legal to hunt in the conservancy area adjacent to Scrubgrass that extends up to the JCC but I've heard Bill Hoon say that he has found arrows etc there during his runs along the road.
ReplyDeleteHi 9:57, I'm referring to the wooded area along the stretch of Scrubgrass on the right side where it levels off after Segar turns into Scrubgrass.
ReplyDeleteNick M.
REINHART is PRO-KILL. No question about it. And, that's what ANDY is telling people. Elaine, if you are the only serious write-in candidate for Ward 3, you are also the only anti-kill candidate for that Ward.
ReplyDeleteBUCK THE FIDDIES.

ReplyDeleteDid anyone take a picture?
Perhaps the pro-kill vote will split, and that will help Elaine win as the only anti-guns/anti-kill candidate.
ReplyDeleteJust to share with everyone:
ReplyDelete1. I've started researching deer-vehicle collisions using insurance company information, since data analysis drives (no pun intended) their decision-making. DVCs increase during hunting season and mating season, both of which would be addressed by sterilization. This commission is really flabbergasting me on this. Have communicated with Kelly Fraasch re: this info and plan to collect more info and present this approach to the commission at some point.
2. Have started a dialogue with Kelly and Chief Lauth on the importance of having accurate, more-detailed data about the dvcs in the muni, since this is apparently driving (sorry!) their decisions. Not just numbers of dvcs, but conditions (does with fawns, multiple deer versus 1, brush along roadways, etc.). Especially now, with hunting season in full swing and mating.
The more data we present to the commissioners, the harder it will be for them to hold on to shooting as best solution and ignore sterilization or present it as "experimental," which directly speaks to some of the conditions that cause accidents.
Because that's what this is all about....
It's all about getting someone on TV-News in tears after seeing a fawn with an arrow stuck in it's side, crossing the street. We need non-cop witnesses to come forward, ID themselves and make statements to the press. This would shut down archery in a heartbeat. Remember, the cops are in on it.
ReplyDeleteThey have no idea who hit that fawn. I will bet my arms and legs that one of Jody's yahoos botched this one.
ReplyDeleteOf course, it is one of Jody's yahoos. I don't believe the cop story for a second. Jody and the cops and the muni set us up for this months ago. All Jody could talk about was all those Mt. Lebo hunters already doing archery here. Hogwash. Nobody hunts in Lebo but the people the muni hires to hunt. This is a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteYou were at the Saturday morning meeting when Jody told us that he would be blamed for everything. But I haven't seen evidence of that, have you?
ReplyDeleteWatching the meeting video, I kept watching Coleen glancing at someone on that side of the room. It turns out, she was looking in the same direction when she invited the Chief to "testify." Didn't it seem rehearsed? She wouldn't invite Aaron to speak unless she was comfortable with what he was going to say. She is sooo much like Kristen, it is scary!
Elaine
You took the words right out of my mouth. As I was getting ready to look at your blog again on this subject, I thought to myself, "The cop thing was staged." You are absolutely correct. Coleen would not have asked Aaron to take the podium unless she knew exactly what he would say.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was there that Saturday morning. Jody said that. Exactly. You are not going to see any evidence of that blame unless we are pointing the finger. Cops, muni, Jody--- all hush on the matter. Aaron's email looks like several people proofed it and worked on it. Or, maybe Jody wrote it for him.
ReplyDeleteJust noticed Lauth didn't cc the icey commissioner.
ReplyDeleteI don't trust Lebo Cops with good reason. Exercise caution.
That was me, 10:24 PM. I didn't send the email to Coleen. Aaron replied to everyone I had originally emailed.
ReplyDeleteElaine
10:24 PM. Well said. Don't count on the cops for accuracy. That's not their job. They are working for Jody.
ReplyDeleteWhen the cops were investigating the baby deer w/ an arrow in it, what regular police services were neglected? It blows my mind that the cops are part of this at all. In my opinion, every cop should be assigned to speed ticketing for the next year and nothing else. What about the other 98% of traffic accidents? Talk about the ultimate red herring...
ReplyDeleteWe can't be sure, Zak, that the cops investigated this or any other deer incident. All they know is what they have to say if they receive reports of botched archery attempts. "It wasn't one of our (Jody's) guys."
