No blood was on the street. Blood was on the grass though. It appeared that the deer came from the Bird Park, not the street. "It was really gross." No cops around. No bloody tarp. The deer had been removed before 9:00 AM.
These photos were taken at 12:04 PM.
Here is some additional info: According to kids, there were some bloody deer tracks on the sidewalk leading back to Bird Park. If you enlarge the first photo, above, you will see a couple red marks toward the bottom of the photo. There was NO blood on the street. When the kids stumbled upon the deer on their way to school this AM, they noticed that the dead deer was positioned on that little slope (see above) with its head closer to the street--- almost facing the street. Its back legs were closer to the church. There was some blood under and around the deer, but the deer appeared to be very clean and only dead for a short while. Rigor had not set in. Coming home from school at almost 4 PM, the kids noticed that the deer was gone and the blood had formed two streams from the sidewalk (where the dead dear laid) over the sidewalk toward Washington Road. Same as in the photos above, taken at 12 noon.
ReplyDeleteIt was a big doe with light fur.
ReplyDeleteThis killing is so inhumane. Apparently there are some very poor archers and I would assume there will be poor "sharpshooters ". That's a scary thought.
ReplyDeleteAh but the elated satisfaction the pro kill biddies must be feeling.
All of this just for them and their precious gardens.
I may bev out of line here but I'm surprised the only reaction was that it was "really gross".
ReplyDeleteIf I had seen that as a child (or even as an adult), I would be very upset.
Where is the compassion and sadness?
Upsetting the children could potentially be one thing used in fighting against this insane killing spree.
There was more of a reaction than it was "really gross." The student had limited time to text before school started. More came later, from what I understand.

I want to add that this student has much compassion for deer and it was extremely upsetting.

Thank you, Elaine. Yes, the student who reported the deed deer incident this AM was very sickened by, not just the sight, but that something so awful could happen to any deer. This student absolutely adores the deer and also knows that Mt. Lebanon is one sick place.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad that the student was upset but that reaction is something the anti kill group can try to use to push the commission into stopping this.
ReplyDeleteI am glad though that the student has compassion and does care.
No child should have to witness this.
My guess is that most children are afraid to say what they think about all of this. However, my son told me today that if "they are killing all of the deer", then he wonders "what will they do next? it could be anything. maybe they'll get rid of all the restaurants". I think he chose "restaurants" because they are something else he likes about Mt Lebanon. I find it unimaginable to be part of a group instilling such apprehension and terror in children... especially, on behalf, of gardens and perhaps, hateful people.
ReplyDeleteIf we could prove yesterday's fallen deer had been shot, the student who saw the poor dead thing, would step forward. He was in a panic and forgot to take a photo. He apologized for that. The wound must have been on the other side of the deer. He said that the side facing up was very clean. He saw no wounds. Everything we have put together so far points to an arrow or a bullet. If the cops put this on one of their tallies, you know they will say that the deer died as a result of a collision with a vehicle. I remember vividly when Coleen called Chief Lauth to the podium at a commission meeting weeks after archery started. He followed the script provided to him. The craziest explanation he gave was about the dead deer on the sidewalk ON A BLUE TARP at 6:30 AM at 318 Hazel Drive. A manly pick-up truck was parked next to it. Chief Lauth told the commissioners that the deer ended up there after being involved in a vehicle collision on Washington Road. The bullet wound, he said, came from a police service revolver. Allegedly, the cops had to put the injured deer down the night before. Lauth said that the cops do NOT carry blue tarps. Hmmm. But, NO archers were involved. Repeat after me.....
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hateful people. I work with a pro kill resident who lacks any warmth whatsoever and everything is supposed to go this person's way.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid that Mt. Lebanon is full of people who genuinely believe the universe revolves around THEM! This is so sad on so many levels.
