Mr. Meduho,
Police Administration, Fire Department Administration, Public Works Administration and Municipal Administration conferred and were in agreement that permitting this block party on Sleepy Hollow Rd would not cause any significant traffic or public safety concerns. The language related to this approval can be found in the following guidelines for block party approvals, "permits will not be granted for highway, arterial or collector streets without review and approval of the Mt. Lebanon Police Department. Because of the volume of traffic on these streets block parties can cause unnecessary traffic restrictions and can present safety challenges to people residing along these streets."
Thanks,

Alternate route for Sunset |

So, apparently nobody needs to get to Sunset Drive. This just burns my toast!
ReplyDelete10:27 AM, please see my second update. The map shows an alternate route, for your "convenience." Mt. Lebanon doesn't expect anyone on Sleepy Hollow to consider others. I have also included a photograph of your commissioner. It explains everything.

municipal administration = PIO
ReplyDeleteTo get to Sunset, make a left on Fruithurst and a right on Jonquil. A 1 block detour. It's not that hard.
ReplyDelete1:01, it is that hard! Why do I have to sacrifice my time by going out of my way so that the PIO'S family can yuck it up on the streets that my tax dollars pay for? I bet there was alcohol too! This world has gone crazy!
ReplyDeleteThey pay taxes, too, and deserve the same amenities as any other residents. Is it really that much of an inconvenience?
DeleteAs for the Brumfield photo, he can only dream of such a sleek body.
ReplyDeleteB.
Having a block party is not an amenity. Our illustrious commissioners voted a few years back not to grant permits "for highway, arterial or collector streets without review and approval of the Mt. Lebanon Police Department. Because of the volume of traffic on these streets block parties can cause unnecessary traffic restrictions and can present safety challenges to people residing along these streets. BLOCK PARTIES ARE NOT PERMITTED ON HALLOWEEN DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS."
ReplyDeleteIf the ordinance isn't going to be enforced, then get rid of it. Open up block parties to every street. But those in charge of this town are on power trips; passing ordinances like no smoking in the parks, deer feeding bans, block parties on certain streets, cracking down on jaywalkers, while looking the other way when it comes to bad driving habits. As I told Joe Kramer, if you think it is a bad ordinance, then go to a commission meeting and let the commissioners know. Don't come to my house and tell me to mind my own business. Talk to the commissioners who pass this crap. And for goodness sakes, BE CONSISTENT. There shouldn't be exceptions for certain people.

"If the ordinance isn't going to be enforced, then get rid of it."
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The only thing worse than a law that isn't enforced is one that is selectively enforced! In my opinion, there are too many ordinances on Mt. Lebanon's books as it is; some of them are archaic, and others make little sense. Also, every ordinance passed should come with an expiration date. If it's a good law it can be easily renewed; if it isn't then it can die a quiet death. I brought the law review and ordinance sunset provision ideas to the commission via E-mail some time ago and actually got at least one favorable comment from it. That was back when the commission was talking to me.
Richard Gideon, I can't believe that you too, are being ignored. You are so polite, a perfect gentleman. They are the worst commissioners EVER.
