Not too long ago, mtl Magazine was looking for and
hired a "content creator." The entire "team" is listed
here, which includes SIX photographers. (Why Susan Morgans spends money on stock photography images, is beyond me.) What strikes me as funny is that Facebook articles tend to mirror what is discussed on Lebo Citizens. Every time I write something about Mary Birks and Outreach, magically, an article shows up on Facebook.
It is uncanny. I write something about Mary Birks and bam! something shows up on Facebook. Susan Morgans comes to the rescue. So why do we need a content creator?
We have Susan Morgans trashing Petco, writing about her trips to wine country, and trolling on this blog. Oh, the money we could save in the Public Information Office.
You're mad... about an article... that talks about a nonprofit that helps struggling teens find themselves. Delete this post.
ReplyDelete"We have Susan Morgans trashing Petco..."
ReplyDeleteWhat is the beef with PETCO? PETCO is a responsible pet care company.
Seriously, they have an Editor In Chief, Managing Editor, and Senior Editor and they need a Content Creator as well for a lousy 15,000or so magazine base published 10 times a year!
ReplyDeletePlus numerous contributors that submit stories and a free blog that gives them stuff to cover for free.
Are they kidding?
Oh sure 7:51, there's no coincidence that a comment appears on this blog of perhaps a conflict of interest with a board members and a position with Outreach and less than 24 hours a "pr piece" appears.
ReplyDeleteSure it's just coincidental!
Nobody is bashing Outreach, it's about the possible conflict.
The comment submitted by 7:51 brings up an interesting topic.
ReplyDeleteIt has been often argued on Elaine's blog that commenters should be required to identify themselves for their submissions to be taken seriously.
It's also stated that they should self-identify because there is nothing to fear for expressing ones opinion in Mt. Lebanon.
So, I'd be interesting in reading the reasons why 7:51 failed to identify them-self.
Do they fear reprisals or is it that they have a vested interest in squelching any scrutiny of the relationship between the school board and Outreach?
Or are they an employee of the PIO and figure they have a monopoly on what residents can read about or discuss?
By the way, I'm all for anonymous comments on this blog and therefore would never, ever demand Elaine or a commenter pull down a post. It's the free speech and exchange of opinions that make it such a valuable addition to our "community."
8:00 AM, I'm thinking that it might have something to do with the fact that my email to nine school board directors, one superintendent, and one reporter was ignored. I sent it out again this morning.
ReplyDeleteClearly, I touched a nerve.
Elaine
Of course it did Elaine.
ReplyDeleteThat's the oblivious reason for the 7:51 anonymous request for you to delete this post.
They don't want any discussion about it.
If all is as it should be it should stand up to the sunshine.
""No experiment can be more interesting than that we are now trying, and which we trust will end in establishing the fact, that man may be governed by reason and truth. Our first object should therefore be, to leave open to him all the avenues to truth. The most effectual hitherto found, is the freedom of the press. It is, therefore, the first shut up by those who fear the investigation of their actions." --Thomas Jefferson to John Tyler, 1804. ME 11:33
ReplyDelete7:51 is trying to shut up an investigation of their actions.
Correction: Is 7:51 trying to shut up an investigation of their actions.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know whom 7:51 is.
Why is anyone who dissents on this blog suddenly accused of being about 10 people on the Lebo Citizens Public Enemy List. Yes, I, 7:51, am Dr. Steinhauer, all the school board members, Susan Morgans and all her assistants, and every commissioner. They have hired me as their official spokesperson to respond to all comments on this blog! Get over yourselves. I'm glad to see 8:53, the one always searching for quotes because he/she can never say anything noteworthy on his/her own, is back. Very big deal. Very intellectual.
ReplyDelete9:54 AM, I do agree with you on ONE thing. The quotes are annoying.
ReplyDeleteElaine
9:54, you are mistaken IMO. The very existence of this blog is about free speech, public opinion and inquiry.
ReplyDeleteNo one denies your opportunity to dissent or express your opinion here. The problem is for your call to "Delete this post."
I suppose you are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean that Elaine or any other commentator is "mad." (As in crazy)
Why did you start off your 7:51 post insulting people by name calling? Thought we were supposed to coming together in Mt. Lebanon and accepting of opinions from people we don't agree with?
And I continue to hear crickets in the school district. Keep in mind, this thread, as well as previous posts, is about School Board President Mary Birks also being Executive Director of Outreach Mary Birks. This is also about our overpaid PIO trying to control our social media through Facebook by lurking here and trying to manipulate us.
ReplyDeleteElaine
9:54, I'll turn your comment around.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that anyone that questions anything that has to do with "official" Lebo actions or policy is "mad?" Look at how people are labeled as hating kids, sports, etc., etc, simply because they oppose something.
Someone submitted a very good question as to whether there is a conflict of interest with a school board member pushing Outreach while at the same time being Outreach's Executive Director.
Also, in question is the PIO immediately posting a pr piece on Outreach.
To expand questions further, is Outreach the ONLY service for struggling teens available in Mt. Lebanon or Allegheny County?
ReplyDeleteAND is it working considering the rise in bullying, hate, and alcohol and drug abuse in the community?
Interest comment by 9:54, Elaine.
ReplyDelete"Yes, I, 7:51, am Dr. Steinhauer, all the school board members, Susan Morgans and all her assistants, and every commissioner. They have hired me as their official spokesperson to respond to all comments on this blog!"
First, can't all those people speak for themselves?
Second, who fits the description of "their official spokesperson?"
There is no official spokesperson to respond to all comments on this blog. I believe that was sarcasm, 11:47 AM.
ReplyDeleteshaking my head.
Elaine
Of course it was sarcasm to avoid the question of whether there is a risk in putting your name to a comment in Lebo.
ReplyDeleteThe word mad was used as angry, not crazy. Also, sort of ironic to criticize anonymous commenters from an anonymous posting? Even though Elaine and I differ in opinion, I think we would both enjoy if we could stick to subject of discussion instead of getting sidetracked.
ReplyDelete1:43, I'm sorry but you seem to have a problem with comprehension. I was not criticizing your right to post anonymously, I actually agree with being able to do so.
ReplyDeleteI was merely asking if you too found it necessary to do so because you fear recriminations from wherever or did you do so to veil your identity as an employee of say Outreach or the public information office.
Yes, by all means let's get back to the discussion at hand. Is it aconflict for a school board member to influence the school's association with an enormity that they they lead and draw a salary from?
correction: entity, not enormity @ 2:22 pm.
ReplyDeleteAw, 2:22 PM, now you did it! You stopped the discussion in its tracks. Don't ask direct questions. All you will hear are crickets.
ReplyDeleteElaine
And isn't that the intent of a "timely" post of a positive Outreach article and 7:51's initial comment.
ReplyDeleteDeflect from the original issue of whether there is a conflict.
