Steinhauer's Affidavit | Job Posting Modification

On May 24, 2017, I filed an appeal with the PA Office of Open Records concerning a Right To Know that I submitted to the School District. Mt. Lebanon submitted a position statement, which included a request to deny my appeal, as well as affidavits from Dr. Timothy Steinhauer and the administrative assistant from the department of Human Resources.

Notice who notarized the affidavits. Jeanine Szalinski is the school district's Open Records Officer (ORO) as well as the superintendent's administrative assistant.

The OOR has until July 24, 2017 to make its Final Determination.

  1. I guess I don't understand. If there truly are no more records responsive to your request (possible, if they were smart and didn't create a paper trail or, less likely, did nothing wrong), then why do they need to contest the appeal? I fully acknowledge that I may be missing something.

  2. Why would they go to an outside notary and pay for the stamp when they have a notary in the building? Nothing to be gleaned from that fact.

  3. Signed affidavits, high priced lawyers...seems like the School District is circling their wagons. Something fishy here.

Note that the SD is saying that they don't have records of any job posting modification. Not that it was or was not done.

  4. Do we know how many outside candidates applied and how many were interviewed?

  5. No, "we" don't. Why don't you file a Right To Know and let "us" know?

  6. 12:00 PM: I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the choice of notary. There is NOTHING that can be gleaned from that fact.

  7. As a reminder, Timmy will be getting a 5.5% salary increase on July 1, 2017 per his amended contract. Additionally, the District will be contributing to his tax deferred plan in the amount of 3.5% of his base salary - an increase from 3% in 2016.

This amended contract came with a $20,000 bonus for Timmy. Based on what has been posted on the blog this week, do you honestly think he deserves it?

  8. Another $20,000 bonus for Tim? On top of last year's $20,000 bonus? God, I hope not.

  10. And there we have a perfect example of why there is a pension crisis.
Did you get a 5.5% salary increase plus a $20,000 bonus?
