  1. Why am I reminded of:
    “Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn and caldron bubble.
    Fillet of a fenny snake,
    In the caldron boil and bake;
    Eye of newt and toe of frog,
    Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
    Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
    Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
    For a charm of powerful trouble,
    Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

    Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn and caldron bubble.
    Cool it with a baboon's blood,
    Then the charm is firm and good.”

  6. One does need a degree in feminist critical theory to observe and note the ugly gender dynamics on the MTL Commission and the MTL Government writ large ... and, as Ward 2 Candidate Stephenson noted, in society and politics more broadly.

    It is also important to note that an organization can be made up of 95% women and still have a decidedly paternalistic power structure. Sometimes, even women acquiesce to it, if fearful or socialized as such.

  10. They're making fun of snobby Mt. Lebanon on Lynn Cullen's radio show reg. Lebo giving out authorized Mt. Lebanon trick or treat bags, and residents being told not to give candy to any children that don't have the authorized Mt. Lebanon bags. Apparently, Mt. Lebanon doesn't want poorer kids from adjacent neighborhoods trick or treating in snobby Mt. Lebanon. Par for the course. Sounds like a Susan Fleming Morgans idea.

  11. You’re right 10:16, a picture is worth a thousand words.

  12. 10:29 That is Mt. Pleasant, not Mt. Lebanon who gave out the authorized treat bags. You can't blame everything on Ms. Morgans

  13. Elaine,

    Speaking of Susan Morgans, where is her costume? You know, the little yellow critter?
