PTA up to their old tricks UPDATED 101617

What are the odds that an entire school board ticket cannot attend a PTA sponsored Candidates Forum? According to the Facebook group that I belong to, and please correct me if I am wrong, the only ones who can attend are either former* or current PTA Council Officers. It doesn't surprise me. This is reminiscent of my November 6, 2011 post,  PTA Apologizes to Cannon.

Just an FYI, PTA. The Pennsylvania PTA Nonpartisan Policy does not mean that you should pull this crap on both Republicans and Democrats. You're up to your old tricks again. All the more reason not to vote for the Timmy Ticket. By the way, Timmy is 3rd Vice President of PTA Council.

*Elaine Cappucci PTA Council Secretary
  Mary Birks PTA Council President
Katie Caste 2nd Vice President of PTA Council

Update October 16, 2017 8:27 PM This is how you seal the deal.
The School Board recognized the PTA leadership for this school year at the school board meeting tonight. Their hard work and dedication in service to our students is vitally important to the success of our schools and is greatly appreciated. #leboproud

  1. Seriously, will someone please verify that Strotmeyer, Diamond, and Riemer cannot attend the forum? I know that since I read it on Facebook, it must be true. ;) I just don't want to be accused of Fake News.
Also, I'm having no luck finding a sample ballot.

  2. EG:
The Allegheny County Elections Division used to have on-line sample ballots for all government entities in Allegheny County. In fact, it still does (http://apps.alleghenycounty.us/website/ElectPollPlace.aspx) - except the sample ballots are for the PRIMARY elections! I can't remember a time in the past ten years or so when the County did not have sample ballots for the general election available less than a month before the election.

  3. They were invited but declined to attend. They could attend, but chose not to.

  4. You mean like how Remely chose not to attend? Hmm, that's interesting.

  5. Who are you, 8:05 ?

  6. The forum is a godsend for the Timmy ticket. Mary Birks will have the chance to explain away the ethics investigation even as it closes in on her. Elaine Cappucci can share with the community how best to secure plum District jobs for their children, neighbors, friends, children of friends, etc, etc. If only Remely was around to explain how one builds a $95 million dollar high school for $115 million dollars. What a bunch. Vote for change.

  7. Don’t forget Caste could explain how the campaign designed to raise money for education has lost money and why she kept her mouth closed about it.
Plus explain how the books for fiscal year ending 6/30/17 seem to be changing as late as August 2017.

  8. I participated in a Candidates Forum when I ran for commissioner. For those who are not familiar with the format, members of the audience submit questions on index cards. They are collected and then the sponsors of the forum select which questions are asked. Don't get your hopes up, Folks. I doubt those questions will see the light of day.

  9. Here is another question that can be submitted, but not asked. If they are all about education, why did Mary Birks and Dan Remely vote to spend $20,000 on a mural of sports heroes at the October 16, 2017 school board meeting? The meeting is tomorrow night.

  10. It always seems to come down to teachers vs. bleachers, in one form or another.

  11. Why a Sports Hall of Fame mural?
Doesn’t MTLSD produce stellar business leaders, doctors, programmers, writers and so forth.
These spendthrifts like Birks, Cappucci live in their little domain and can’t see further than their noses.

  12. 8:05 Reading the Facebook post, it seems clear that the Strotmeyer, Riemer, Diamond group was only invited after the date, time and venue were set; likely in coordination with Cappucci, Caste, etc. Does anyone really think that Cappucci and Birks want to talk about nepotism and ethics policies? This is a campaign event and not a candidate forum.

    Vote Riemer, Strotmeyer and Diamond.

  13. Where's the wall of Mensa members going up? Oh, that's right, never. It's frowned upon to treat/acknowledge our intellectually gifted like we do our athletically gifted.

  14. "This is a campaign event and not a candidate forum." I guess so, 8:22 AM. It should be canceled or rescheduled so that all seven candidates can attend. Gotta love the PTA.

  15. The PTA knew who the candidates were in May, but waited until 5-6 weeks before the election to try and schedule a forum? That's just good planning no matter how you cut it.

But more likely, they are finally reading the tea leaves and seeing that their preferred candidates may struggle to get through, so they're doing their best to tip the scales.

    PTA action, it's FAN-tastic.

  16. If Kurt Angle is going on that wall...think about this...http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/08/14/kurt-angle-opens-up-about-substance-abuse-recovery/
Or are arrests for DUI or public intoxication the new norm for Mt. Lebanon ?

  17. At one point in time, there was a strong connection between the League of Women Voters and Elaine Cappucci. That was a few years ago. I don't know if the League still supports Cappucci but it sure did I think the first time she ran. A member of the League told me. Wait, isn't the League supposed to be neutral? I guess not.

  18. Since the LeboGOP seems to be asleep, on vacation or simply brain dead the League of Women Voters are probably safe assuming all Lebo women voters are democrats.

  19. Can you define the "strong connection" that you speak of 11:07. What does that mean?

  20. @10:37 am
It maybe a true Lebo Legacy if that is the case and if people do not vote for a leader in the 4th Ward. Please vote and not just pull the lever. Vote for leadership committed to All in Mt Lebanon and not just themselves.
