On Friday, Dec. 6, the new high school competition gym will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. before the first game in the new facility. The Boys’ Basketball team is hosting the Tip Off Tournament and will start the tournament off against Johnstown. Game time is 4:00 p.m. Stop by to catch the game and stay to see the first swim meet of the season in the new pool at 6:00 p.m.
Thats it? Thats the main competition gym? Boring, Dull. Cheap-looking.
ReplyDeleteThe pool on the other hand looks great except for that railing.
Asthetically and probably for safety why didn't they make it the same as the aisle height all the way across.
That floor to the right of the pool railing lopks like crap already in the photo above.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen Bethel's gym?
Did you happen to take photos of the "[c]racks throughout pool lobby and seating area?"
ReplyDeleteBethel Park's gym is an amazing work of design. That gym makes Mt Lebo's look outdated.
ReplyDeleteIf an athletic facility can be considered gorgeous, then Bethel's gym is gorg! There is seating on all four sides and also a four-sided scoreboard. I don't care for the black and orange color scheme - I've never been a fan of Bethel's colors. I prefer blue and gold! Other than that it's a fantastic gym.
ReplyDeleteEveryone should check it out when Lebo plays Bethel Park in the upcoming basketball season.
mt lebanon's looks like the south gym, just moved across the bridge to the west
ReplyDeleteJust sayin you're right and in a couple of years of shoddy maintenance and upkeep it'll look just like the old South gym.
ReplyDeleteI agree, 10:31 AM. Except for the blue seating. Are the bleachers plastic? Can't tell from the photo. I prefer the natural wood bleachers.

Gee nice gym, weight room, computer lab with Macs.
How much did this all cost Bethel... $87 million?
Thanks for the photo of the Bethel gym. All I can say is WOW!
ReplyDeleteLook at Lebo's 'new' gym, 4 walls, a polished floor and bleachers along the wall.
ReplyDeleteA description one could use on any school gym built in the past 50 years.
Compare that to Bethel's 21st century, multi-use, gym, multi-media, theatre-in-the-round civic space.
If you weren't aware of the school colors and couldn't see the logos which would you guess was affluent Lebo's and which was Bethels?
So in a few years the School Board will declare the gym as unusable and taxes will be increased to build a new building to not only include a better gym BUT a indoor soccer/football/lacrosse field. Dave B will for sure add several MILLION to help out! Remember it's NOT for the Children it's for the two Dave's kids! Both will promise that it won't cost a dime...
