The position was posted for less than a day! So within a day the applications were closed and miraculously, 3 days later, ELAINE CAPPACCI RESIGNS.

Mt. Lebanon this is a disgrace. We do NOT have the best qualified teacher in this position. Harrisburg says to send the info to the DA's office. I for one think this is a criminal act. I think we need a copy of the by-laws, we need to IMPEACH TIMMY for his corruptness.
ReplyDeleteHe is not a blue devil he is a DEVIL.
Teacher Cappucci you should resign Elaine you are a damn disgrace . You really did not do your son any favors.
Wonder how many MTL graduates have degrees that qualified them for that position, but never had a chance in hell of getting because they didn't have connections.
ReplyDeleteThe Birks, Remely, and Caste Team should explain why they allowed this to happen in the first place. Birks and Remely because they were directors when it happened and Caste possibly because she's very active in the PTA. If she had no idea of the situation she should as a candidate, at the very least should make a statement as to whether she thinks the hitining was appropriate and whether she'd allow it to occur again in the future.
ReplyDeleteCan any staff comment on this per what I think to be from your current contract?

Mike Riemer said at the last Democratic Party meeting that his daughter (a Mt. Lebanon graduate) would never apply here because it would be inappropriate and unethical. Four years ago I voted for Elaine, Mary & Mike. This time I'm going with the Riemer ticket. Straight shooters! (no police pun intended)
ReplyDelete5:55 while I'm favoring Riemer, he was a director the same as Birks and Remely when this hiring occurred. If he thinks it was inappropriate or unethical shouldn't he have spoken up?
ReplyDeleteOr is there an unspoken ethos on the board of hear no evil, see no evil, say no evil? If that's the way the board operates why have 9 members? Why have any?
Perhaps he and Stephen Strotmeyer did, and that is why they have chosen not to run with Remely, Birks, and Cappucci.
ReplyDeleteElaine
That is a possibility, Elaine. At least he's conscious that it is inappropriate.
ReplyDeleteAs I wrote, I like the guy and some of his votes. Unless things change dramatically, he gets my vote in the primary.
I'll say though had the Superintendent gone to extreme measures of interviewing many candidates and could prove Cappucci was indeed of the best of the lot it'd be less of an issue for me.
Same would go for Riemer's daughter.
These children shouldn't be penalized because of their parents volunteerism. If they are the Best with a capital B they should have every opportunity to work here.
It a shame Cappucci chose to play the system.
5:55, I am curious. Was April's Democratic Committee meeting packed like sardines? They have been and I don't know why.
ReplyDeleteJust an off topic thought, tomorrow is Earth Day.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, will the School Directors climb that mountain of earth on the practice field and proclaim-- 'In celebration of Mother Earth we intend to worship her by covering this property in million dollar plastic grass and used tire crumbs!"
All of which will be appropriately documented by the environmentally concerned Public Information Office.
Yes, it is off topic. Earth Day will be celebrated on Sunday, in Mt. Lebanon Park. There may be some candidates working the crowd. Why don't you ask them yourself?
ReplyDeleteWith Andrew Cappucci being a football coach, I think it is pretty much guaranteed, 9:02 PM.
Elaine
If a posting is supposed to be on the intranet and emailed to staff for a week prior, did that happen? Did this 1 day posting violate the teacher's contract?
ReplyDeleteWas the assistant football coaching position ever posted?
ReplyDeleteTo be clear, is the link to Cappucci's job posting from the internet and not from the intranet?
Also, 9:02 PM, I am not going to argue with you about whether your comment is off topic or not. We go through this frequently, don't we?
Elaine
So if I am understanding the comment about the middle school teacher being hired, the issue is that he was the son of a school board director who resigned then her son was hired a few days later and now she wants to come back on the board? WOW! Then the issue with the job posting being only for a few minutes or hours on July 13. This reeks with ethical and moral issues. I can see that there needs to be a further look into the board and the relationship with the superintendent to say the least. Apparently the moral compass is broken for Birks and Cappucci and Dr. Steinhauer. So disappointed on these issues. I can only hope that someone digs a lot deeper into the board actions and relationships with the school administration, PTA and the school union. There is just the appearance of a good old boy network operating on the school board. Last time I looked the governing board is supposed to be independent of the body they are governing. This is to prevent any of these types of issues coming forward.
ReplyDeleteI hope the school board and the administration take a serious look at their actions. This is simply incomprehensible that this can take place in a school district like Mt. Lebanon.
I am taking a guess that there is a strong undercurrent on the board. It is very interesting in the split with the upcoming election. It seems that Remely, Beal and Riemer are conservative with the financial matters of the taxpayers. Certainly can't say that about Birks or Cuppucci. They have been spend thrifts. Was it not Birks who resurrected the air conditioning for the elementary and middle schools after the majority of the board said NO. Seems she is like a bully and just does what she wants. We should be keeping a close eye on Birks and how she is acting as board president. I will be paying closer attention to the school board meetings. It is a shame that our IT department for the school district can't get any better resolution cameras for the board meetings.
