ok people I am not alone in this thought. Mr. Stein told us a fee for the trip lets say it was $2500. We all paid the fee gave him the money. He did not hold a gun to our heads that was the cost for him to take the kids to Germany for 2 weeks plus . The kids had a fantastic experience. He chose to share his summer break taking 19 kids to Germany would you do that? We were told there might be some money left he was not sure? He had funds available incase of emergency. He was never asked for an accounting of the trip, I believe that he earned the money. FYI for most it was not the students money it was the Parents of the students money. Few kids may have paid for their entire trip. We are talking about $35 per kid...There are teachers , administrators, and board members guilty of worse. Herr Stein is a great teacher, and an asset to the German Department. He was trusted with our children on foreign soil! He took good care of the kids and he showed them the culture of the language the kids were studying.
While "Herr Stein" may in fact be a "great teacher," Herr Stein has accepted "...full responsibility for the funds I should not have used," and says "I'm sorry for what I did". That sounds like an admission of wrongdoing as far as I'm concerned. The fact that there may be "teachers, administrators, and board members" guilty of worse - and I have no problem believing that some of those people may eventually be featured on the 6 O'Clock news - is not the issue here. The man says he was having "financial problems" and succumbed to temptation.
The point that should be adduced is not how great a teacher Herr Stein was, but the fact that he seems willing to take responsibility for his actions; he's going to have to live with the consequences.
Here is a question. If no parent (the owners of the money) did not file a complaint who has standing to make the complaint? The school has stated it was not a school sponsored trip. who has standing to file a complaint? Why is the school taking action?
1:55 I don't think 1:07 was saying he is a good teacher let him go. I get that 1:07 was saying he earned that money and the people that paid for the trip don't care how he used the left over money?
As a parent paying for my kid to take a trip to Germany. I would rather the left over funds go to the sponsor, than some undeserving Mt. Lebanon Student in future years!
It blows my mind that neither students in his class nor parents were directly informed about this. My student was in the classroom when the kids were told to "evacuate". The kids had no idea what was wrong but they had the distinct impression that Stein was in trouble. For weeks we assumed he was on drugs and maybe suspected of using them in the classroom. Still the parents and students have not been informed. My student was texted a tv headline picture by another student and also told to look at the blotter. Children (and parents) trust teachers and schools because we must. What does it say to us to remove a teacher and act like nothing happened?
The kids entered the classroom as they normally would and I believe Stein was not there so they expected him to arrive shortly when admin and police came in and told them to evacuate. Since then, the kids have had a retired German teacher who is "really nice". The kids liked Stein and my student says he was "chill". But maybe "chill" in a psycho thief way?
The person that reported these infraction was the other signer on the account, the other German teacher Peg Meyers. I think she should be charged as well. She had a fiduciary duty to examine that account and she did not for 7 years.
I would think of her as the get away driver, from a bank heist. She should be held accountable for her inaction for 7 years.
Rumor has it she just hates Stein, I think this was a witch hunt.
I wonder how many students needed a mental health day over that traumatic experience. Can you imagine sitting in the classroom when all of a sudden, MLPD enters and tells you to evacuate? Is this what Timmy 's tagline means? "What did you do today to improve the life a child?" Seriously, Timmy, do you ever do anything to improve the life of a child that doesn't have the last name of Cappucci? Elaine
11:51, according to minutes from a February 2013 commission meeting, a Christian Stein spoke about being opposed to an ordinance regarding a rental property inspection program.
"Christian Stein of 1035 Boyce Road stated that he owns 132 rental units in Mt. Lebanon, and he was against the proposed ordinance"
3:36---There is no plaintiff in the case against Stein. The Commonwealth is prosecuting him for a second degree misdemeanor and a third degree felony. This is a criminal case.
Apparently there are many loose ends to this story that will likely come out in court, but one fact is clear: The man admitted that he "did wrong," and seems resigned to the consequences of his actions. That in itself is something worthy of comment in this day and age, especially among public servants.
Whether Mr. Stein was a good teacher is beside the point. The fact that there may have been money left over from the trip to Germany does not automatically confer "personal use," and it seems a stretch to me to even imply such a thing. Again, the man admitted that it was wrong to use that money for himself.
The trip may have been taken over the summer, but Mr. Stein was a German teacher in the Mt. Lebanon School District and as such was a representative of same; whether school was in or out of session. And despite the timing and "private" nature of this trip, was there not some vetting of it by the District, seeing as how it involved a Mt. Lebanon teacher and Mt. Lebanon students?
I was engaged Christians step son Scott who just passed away of a od no stein is not on drugs lol I know for a fact.he and his wife robin are good people .I can't believe this is happening

THANK YOU HERR STEIN!
Be careful before you throw stones!!

It's OK if he was only stealing Mommy's money, not yours?
ReplyDeleteHouston, we have a problem.

ReplyDelete1:07 is correct. This is BS.
ReplyDeleteCan Mr. Stein say, "Stick 'em up" in German?

ReplyDeleteTold to evacuate? What do you mean, 6:33 PM? Did they arrest Stein in his classroom?

ReplyDeleteWho was the third party that discovered that money was not being deposited and/or that money was being taken?
ReplyDeleteDoes Mr. Stein still own 132 rental units in Mt. Lebanon?
Nick M.
Yeah, the way the school and administration have handled this is disgusting and unprofessional.
ReplyDeleteWait. Come again, Nick. Stein owns 132 rental units in Mt. Lebanon? What gives?
ReplyDeleteWere only Stein's students told to evacuate? And, go where? This is sounder odder by the minute.

Elaine, how is this Dr. Steinhauer's fault in any way?
