One of the meetings removed was from early May where Mary's report includes being caught voting on Outreach contracts. Get rid of the evidence, Mary. Atta Girl!
Update October 19, 2017 7:09 AM The district continues to update its website. Mary's scathing President's Report for October has been uploaded. However, Timmy's reports have been stripped down to one month - August 2017. The Superintendent's blog had been removed months ago. His goals for the 2017-2018 school year are MIA, but 2016-2017 goals are still up. Even though eighteen school board meetings videos have been removed, concerts and plays are still available as early as June 10, 2008. The school board is in lockdown mode. Instead of a "reset," the board should be thinking about a District Detox. I hope November 7, 2017 will mark the beginning of such detox.
Fortunately, the PG has it covered and it’ll be tough to eliminate that record.
ReplyDelete“Ms. Birks referred comment to her lawyer, Bill Clifford, who said his client “inadvertently voted” to approve contracts with the agency because approval was lumped into a single vote with a host of other annual contracts. Mr. Clifford said Ms. Birks has voted in favor of the contracts each year since she joined the board eight years ago. The votes were unanimous.
“She won’t vote on it in the future,” he said, including later this month when the next annual contract with the agency is expected to be considered by the board. “She wasn’t aware it was in those materials.”
Ms. Birks has been the executive director of Outreach Teen & Family Services since 2014. Mr. Clifford said he didn’t know her annual salary, but IRS forms that the agency is required to submit indicate that Ms. Birks earned $31,946 in 2014, the latest year that figures were available.”
Ms. Birks shouldn’t be voting on something she isn’t aware of. Hope that doesn’t happen a lot.
ReplyDeleteMary shouldn't be voting on something that she is very much aware of. It happens more than you know.

Ms. Birks has voted in favor of contracts for the last eight years and she has been an employee of Outreach since 2014!
ReplyDeleteApparently it appears she’s violated the ethics code more than once. Did she not read any of the contracts.
Wait--the district got rid of videos where one of their school boatd directors violated the ethics laws?? HAHAHA. Brilliant, Lebo. When in doubt, double-down.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the laws you already violated, now you can add obstruction to the list!
To be clear on the comment at 2:02 pm, that was Ms Birks’ Attorney Clifford that said she voted on the contracts for the last eight years and that she was an employee of Outreach since 2014.
ReplyDeleteHere is the article, 5:05 PM. Mt. Lebanon school board president to refrain from votes related to nonprofit Perhaps we should make copies of it, before Mary Birks makes them take it down too.

Page 24) “6:10. What does the concept “conflict of interest” mean and why should school directors try to avoid such conflicts? The term “conflict of interest” in the broader context of school board service refers to any potential clash between the public interest and the private financial interest of an individual director. Both the School Code and the Public Official and Employees Ethics Act prohibit various categories of conflicts of interest that school directors and other public officials must take great care to avoid. A public official must not vote on or otherwise attempt to influence decisions on matters that could result in private financial gain for themselves, their families, or businesses with which they or their families are associated. Violations can result in civil penalties, criminal prosecution and being banned from holding public office or public employment.“
