RTK about Graffiti at High School Granted in Record Time!

Remember this? Latest Right To Know Filed

From the Open Records Officer for MTLSD:

On October 26, 2017, we received your request seeking "Emails, (including photos) sent to the school board on February 5 concerning the racist graffiti found in the high school kitchen on February 1 and the response from Mary Birks on February 6."

My RTK was granted in the minimum amount of time!

Graffiti in High School Kitchen

Note that Mary Birks was insulted.

  1. "This is both incorrect and insulting." Typical condescending, patronizing, self-righteous old-time Lebo talk. Attack the insightful. Chill speech that keeps power in check. Luckily, there is a thing called karma.

  2. This section is new to me since it is about a criminal investigation. It is part of the cover letter which explains any redactions.

"In addition, the portion of Dr. Steinhauer’s February 6, 2017 email discussing the progress of the related investigation has been redacted pursuant to Sections 708(b)(16) (criminal investigation) and 708(b)(17) (noncriminal investigation) of the RTKL..."

"...Please note that only an appeals officer designated by the District Attorney for the County of Allegheny has jurisdiction to determine whether a requested record is a criminal investigation record. See Section 503(d)(2) of the RTKL. The Open Records Appeals Officer for the District Attorney of Allegheny County is Michael W. Streily, Esquire, Office of the District Attorney, 401 Courthouse, 436 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219."

  4. Not sure if you can say she’s kind of an idiot, but you’ve got wonder why anyone would make her president or executive director of anything. She just doesn’t have the qualifications or personality for it IMO.

“Mary Birks had never worked as an executive director at a nonprofit prior to accepting her job at Outreach Teen & Family Services early last year.”

  7. Hey, time for another "unity" rally.

  8. Isn't it strange that the media didn't jump on this? What happens in Lebo, stays in Lebo.

  9. Racism in Mt Lebanon, seems that it is painted over, hidden, ignored, swept under the carpet. Maybe a police investigation, maybe a "unity rally", maybe nothing. Where is our leadership to actually confront and address it. Listen to Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria, head of the US Air Force Academy speak on this topic, follow this you tube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU0RfhvYN8s or search it out on you tube. This is true leadership. Listen to his speech, then ask "who is our leader" in the Mt Lebanon school district.
