Also, Mt. Lebanon's first bike corral has been installed on Parse Way. It can accommodate 10 bikes and is sheltered. Uptown now has 'parking' for 16 cycles with more to come.
I hear that there may be free meter parking on Washington Road during Shop Small Business Saturday. I have been asking for that for years. If that is true, Eric, way to go!

Free Parking Saturday's!
Our local businesses should be estatic and hopefully the saved parking fees will find their way into the businesses pockets and the plan will attract even more retail establishments.
No, no, no, 9:08 AM. Saturday, not Saturdays. Thanks to John Bendel, only Beverly Road has free parking Saturdays. I have been trying to get one stinking free Saturday for Washington Road.

Sorry for misunderstanding.
One lousy Saturday, why bother?
90% of the community probably won't even realize that that one Saturday has free parking.
Who wants to shop Washington Road anyway?
Maybe the same people that shop Beverly Road?
What is the difference between the two commercial areas?
Beverly has an ice cream store, several restaurants, a bakery, a coffee shop, a quasi hardware and two banks.
Wahington Road, surprise, surprise, has ice cream shops, several restaurants, a bakery, a real hardware store, a bike shop, a music store, coffee shops, florist, drug store, auto parts, doctors offices, etc.
Why does Beverly get preferrential treatment? Could it be the parking ticket scofflaws had enough influence to get free parking on Beverly on Saturdays?
Lebo spends a fortune every year trying to prop up the merchants in Uptown (now mostly restaurants) and Beverly Rd.. There is no business privilege or mercantile tax in Lebo, and the properties are still under assessed for real estate taxes.
One might ask why anyone would want to buy a condo behind the Washington Road business district with trolley tracks in your backyard. Right 10:18?
Maybe the Lebo businesses need propped because people find it more convenient to visit the strip malls in Bethel, USC, Peters, Castle Shannon and Bridgeville/Heidelberg where parking is free and prices are perceived to be cheaper.
Those in the know understand what a crown jewel Rolliers is.
I would like to see a website devoted specifically to the businesses in Mt. Lebanon.
There is a business directory on the Mt. Lebanon website but that's all it is, just a directory.
