Shame on Remely

I can't believe I read this. Dan Remely is putting down our police and fire department in the Trib article,  Renovation change orders could cost Mt. Lebanon School District $200 K
“Our illustrious police department and fire department are spending a heck of a lot of our money,” he said, noting that their reviews required more safety measures."
The PG caught that comment too. Mt. Lebanon school board nears decision on rifle range
Board member Dan Remely expressed concerns about the possibility of representatives from Mt. Lebanon's police, fire and inspection offices determining if additional safety features are needed.
THAT HE QUESTIONS? This isn't the first time Dan Remely has questioned our fire department. I am sorry, but I would NEVER question our police and fire department when it comes to our schools - or any time!!! We're talking about our children's safety.

This is what you get when we have four seats and four candidates running for school board. They can do and say anything they want, because they're in!

On a side note, the Trib picked up on Ostergaard's comment.
Board member Dale Ostergaard said he's worried because the district approved changes costing more than $300,000 last month.
“If we continue at this pace, we're going to run out of contingency (money) in eight months,” he said.
Someone asked me where I find the change orders on the school district website. That is a good question. They aren't listed in any particular section. You have to go to mtlsd.org. On the left hand side of the home page, click on "School Board." At the top of that page, click on "Agendas." In order to find the change orders, click on every agenda listed and the change orders for that month will be there. There is no running total available on the District website. To get that, file a Right To Know. Or look on the right hand side of this blog.

Josephine issues another big check

Thanks to Pennsylvania American Water for a $500 grant that will help Mt. Lebanon Fire Department purchase new cribbing and shoring equipment to help with confined space rescues. Pictured is firefighter Ed Davies with Jo Posti, the water company's public affairs specialist.

Thanks to Pennsylvania American Water for a $500 grant that will help Mt. Lebanon Fire Department purchase new cribbing and shoring equipment to help with confined space rescues. Pictured is firefighter Ed Davies with Jo Posti, the water company's public affairs specialist.
A couple of things:

  • The check is for $1500, not $500.
  • Another PA American Water Company grant that is biased. Steve Posti is a volunteer for the Fire Department. Not that I have a problem with the Fire Department getting a grant or that Mr. Posti is a volunteer fireman, but...
On January 26, 2013, our Fire Department came to my rescue when a PA American Water meter, improperly installed, burst behind my home with water gushing into my yard. Long story short, PA Am Water will not cover the damage. Their attorney will not return my calls.  Do you think Josephine Posti can write one of those big checks to me so that I can get my yard restored?

Centennial Celebrations scheduled for February 4, 2012

The First 100 Years
The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon will debut its newest exhibit, Mt. Lebanon: The First 100 Years, on Saturday, February 4. The exhibit will feature a timeline of significant events (pre- and post-1912), items from the society’s collection and old photographs of the community. The center, at 200 Lebanon Avenue, will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on February 4, and the exhibit will run through the end of 2012.

Mt. Lebanon Fire Department centennial open house
The Mt. Lebanon Fire Department will celebrate the centennial with an open house and “push in” ceremony from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, February 4, when the department’s new fire truck will arrive. At a push-in, firefighters (and others who may want to help) push the new truck into the garage. This is an old fire house tradition that dates back to when firefighting vehicles were horse drawn. When the horses were released from the apparatus, the firefighters then pushed the vehicle into the fire house. The ceremony joins the past to the present. The event also will feature an exhibit of historic items and photographs from the department.
