LeboALERT: School opens August 27

This is an important notice from LeboALERT.
School opens August 27. For an update on traffic patterns around the high school construction site, visit www.lebomag.com or www.mtlsd.org.

Only problem is that there is nothing on the Mt. Lebanon School District website. Susan Morgans wrote a nice article about traffic patterns here at lebomag.com.  This proves that we really don't need two public information officers.

Perhaps the School District PIO submitted the information to the Municipal PIO, allowing the Municipal PIO to resubmit the information to the School District PIO tomorrow.

11:30 PM, of course. That must be the case. Makes sense to me.

I drove by The A3 auditorium entrance from Cochran on Monday and there was a closed gate blocking entering there. It was around 1:30 pm

Its nice knowing that Morgans is being paid to do the District's work.

It's even nicer knowing that Cissy Bowman is getting paid while Susan Morgans is being paid to do the district's work. And they are both being paid while I do this for free. I wish I could just have their benefits!!! With that, good night!

How much work do you think a SD employee can do in a 28 hour work week.
Writing a press release on the traffic patterns would probably require OT.
Expect it on the SD site next week.

Say what?

Morgans post:

"—Beginning August 13, Horsman Drive will be closed from Cochran Road to the South Parking Lot (section of road in front of the A-3 (auditorium) entrance. This closure will likely be in effect until the first day of school."

But on the school district site and it's been up for a while:

"Traffic Changes/Road Closures

Horsman Drive will be closed from Cochran Road to the South Parking Lot (section of road in front of A-3 (auditorium entrance). This closure is expected to be in effect until mid-August 2012."

I guess that means the district will open up Horsman Drive on August 12th (does that qualify as mid-August?) and then promptly close it back up again on August 13th!

Good thing they put out that LeboAlert, wouldn't want to driving thru that suddenly open entrance and have the gate close on my car!

"public information" is a bit of an oxymoron for the school district, isn't it?

If we can do things electronically, tell me again why we have a municipal magazine?

Wait for the article on assessment bill being paid by the municipality to come out in Morgans' comic book.

Elaine, you wrote: "This proves that we really don't need two public information officers."

Actually, me thinks what it proves is we need to hire a public information proofreader/analyst. Some capable of remembering the information they already put out to the public and whether the new information is necessary or makes any sense.

How many instances does this make now where public releases conflict with previous info.
Wasn't it about a month ago that Dr. Steinhauer said all YSA bills where paid, then a few weeks later info is released that the YSA 'just' delivered a check making their account paid up.
Now we have a LeboALERT that's warning- "watch out" a drive is being closed that's been closed all summer.
Maybe the Strategic Plan Facilitator consultant knows a good PR person.
Oh, wait we just paid one $43,000 dollars to tell us we couldn't achieve $30 million in donations for the high school project.

Which reminds me...when is Pursuing Ketchup going to give their promising powerpoint presentation?

The agendas should be coming out tomorrow for both the SD meeting on Monday and the Muni meetings on Tuesday.

Don't think Pursuing Ketchme-if-u-can report is due until September now even though it was supposed to be only a 30 day study. Of course, they very quietly changed the goal from $30 M to only $15 M, which must have required a bunch of changes in the work plan don't you think they want us to believe ?

The switcheroo sounds just a bit similar to public fundraising for the Lebo public safety center about 10 years ago. The original goal was $1,500,000. When that was no longer obviously feasible, the goal was changed to only $1,000,000 but represented to the public as being the original goal. Problem was that what some bloggers refer to as the "comic book" had already previously published an article indicating the goal was $1,500,000.

The end result was around $600,000 which included a $250,000 state grant at the very end, sponsored by a state rep seeking reelection, who lost.

And, the cost of the public safety center ended up at just over $9 million v. initial cost estimates and preliminary budgets only a few years previously of about $4.5 million. And, it still leaks.

"Jello" Construction is getting quite a reputation in Mount Lebanon. Here come cost overruns.
