I'm sure the muni cull nitwits will claim the accident was likely caused by deer. They'll make that statement so often that eventually it will become a bubble "fact" in official records.
We havent, and won't, get a LEBOalert because the suspect vehicle isn't an Escalade and we luxury Lebonites mustn't be associated with a peasant vehicle, likely operated by a member of the horrid middle class. In all seriousness, we (our PIO and elected leaders) sweep those things under the rug here in Lebo. It's all about appearances.
Was it a hit and run of a car or of a pedestrian?
One problem we have in this community is dark streets at night. As a Castle Shannon Blvd. resident, driving from the Library to Mt. Lebanon Blvd. at night is awful with rainy nights like tonight making it worse. The lights are dingy brown and don't give off much needed light.
Here it is almost 2015 and we don't have energy saving LED street lights on our main roadways. I asked Tom Kelley about this last week, he said that Duquesne Light will be installing LED lights on Washington Road from Dormont to Bethel.

Washington Rd is MTL's "false facade". Nicely paved, lined with new sidewalks, nice homes and bustling boutiques. Venture off this road and you'll quickly see the emperor has no clothes. Just beyond the view from Washington, the new asphalt stops, the road paint is faded and the potholes are aplenty. Heck, you can even see some graffiti in certain areas! The further away from Washington you venture, the faster traffic seems to move, and with no threat of enforcement. I wouldn't doubt that the recent rash of "pedestrian accidents" is MTL's own means of culling the middle class and the peasants who "can't afford to live here". Ridiculous, yes, but can you be 100% sure our money-grubbing Commissioners haven't schemed to make room for more "newcomers"?

Mt Lebanon needs to install brighter lights and cut back the tree branches along the sidewalks and over the streets.
3:09, funny you should mention that. I've been wondering the same thing too. Let's not forget the ivy that grows unchecked along the power lines across major streets (Washington Rd, Mt. Lebanon Blvd, Castle Shannon Blvd., etc...).
On another note, knowing that Mt. Lebanon wouldn't do anything, I called Tom Hartswick (Castle Shannon manager) and asked him if they could clean up the traffic island at the intersection of CSB and Mt. Lebanon Blvd. Did anyone else notice that huge bush growing down there?
Anyways, Tom gave me a direct number for a PennDOT foreman who lives in Castle Shannon. After 1 week of contacting him, the whole island was cleaned up.
Why Mt. Lebanon couldn’t do that still remains a mystery. I talked with Dan Cessna from PennDOT a few weeks back, he said anyone could have gone down there and cleaned the place up.
What I don't understand is why the a priority in this community is not basic functions such as keeping the place looking respectable.

Nick I'm in a wheelchair and have called numerous times about our streets curbs. Getting in and out of vehicles with broken apart curbs is dangerous. I even offered to pay to have the curb in front of my house fixed and told I couldn't. I've been almost hit numerous times while uptown. I've seen older people almost hit too. When I called our commissioner and told him that there are more older people in this community than kids that want to play field sports I was told that the fields were a priority. So playing lacrosse and soccer is more important that a person(s) life. I fear only a horrible accident with loss of life will change things here. It's sad but I feel like the commissioner would be happy little campers if all us old people just died off. Then all these wealthy young families would move in. Whoops they all are moving to Peters and SF.
My young family doesn't agree with putting field sport playing conditions in front of accessibility and safety.
It's just our elected Mt Lebanon Commission that pushes through synthetic toxic turf that puts their wants before your ADA needs.
Hi John at 9:22, I understand your concerns and like you am totally baffled as to the priorities of this current commission. Safety before sports isn't just foolish, it's downright irresponsible. As we can plainly see, $5.3 million swimming pools, $1 million turf fields plus the bottomless cash pit for the high school project seems to be much more important than public safety in the eyes of our officials.
These streets are dark...period. Curbs and sidewalks need repaired...period. And when two cars are parked on either side of the road it's even worse. Driving down Jefferson tonight was really dark because much of that road is now black asphalt which absorbs light. Just wait till CSB gets asphalt next year with the current street light situation. I may equip my truck with additional driving lights just to play it safe.
If the commission wanted to prevent and/or reduce the number of hit and runs in this township, they just might want to adjust their priorities...but they won't.
And you are correct, young wealthy families are moving elsewhere.
I was reviewing the deer incident report a little earlier…I wonder how many of the deer/vehicle accidents happened at night.

We have street signs hanging sideways so why do you expect to have working street lights? There is only so much money and that money has been thrown at building a super-duper FAKE lacrosse field. End of story! Pay your taxes... Watch TV... And move on!

11:14 Radar guns? No it's cameras to watch who comes and goes that gets me pissed! All these cities are removing Red Light Cameras and who is working on getting them? Maybe Dumbfield can act like his "God" and make an executive order of his own and place cameras and tracking devices on his haters. Laws, ethics, even common sense is void in Mt Lebanon. We are now beneath Dormont and Castle Shannon. The joke is on us!
The leaf collection was typically inept this year. Whose bad idea was curbside piles? They just blow everywhere. The municipal pick up schedule is never followed and it ends too early.
Maybe the police don't care about the hit & runs because the municipality attempted to defraud them of their full pensions.
How could a lawsuit among your former colleagues vs local government and manager be good for morale?
