That is exactly what many residents have been doing in recent days, "Hunting the Deer Hunters."
Mt. Lebanon hasn't made it easy for us. Allegedly, Mt. Lebanon was to notify neighbors and haven't done a very good job. I have asked repeatedly for neighbors bordering these killing fields to share their letters, and not one of them have been able to say that they received anything from the municipality.
How many received this LeoALERT and checked the agenda to see if anything was mentioned about killing in the parks?

This is the Environmental Sustainability Board, Kristen Linfante, and artificial turf ALL OVER AGAIN! Why isn't Commissioner Steve Silverman addressing this issue with the Parks Advisory Board?
At the last commission meeting, a very emotional resident brought up a video of what happens during a corral and kill and had the commissioners confirm that they watched the video. They all said that they saw it. Here is the video. Residents asked for a crosswalk at the intersection of Cedar/Morgan/Greenhurst. They were told it was too expensive. But there is money for turf, trophy cases and deer culls. What a great community!

Feral pigs cause enormous damage, and have been known to attack and kill pets. That being said, the mindset of those who shoot caged animals is on full display in that video. Walking off while wounded animals thrash about? Ethical hunters and sportsmen detest this.
Do not call the thugs hired by the Commissioners "hunters". They are nothing of the sort. They are killers.
Let me make sure I've got this straight.
Linfante Proclaims she is only interested in preventing deaths on our roads due to too many deer in our community.
To assure that her goal is achieved, the commissioners will try and hide the location of the corrals so protesters won't tamper with them.
BUUUUTTTTT... aren't the corrals fitted with corn feeders that are designed to attract deer?!
So, to keep you and me safe, Benner is luring deer across roads in secret locations in the name of making us safer.
I'll feel so much better and safer if I hit one of those lured deer.

Elaine - In a comment, you mentioned PA One Call being a cause for delay/concern. Are you stating that the utility companies are coming out to the cull sites to mark utilities? Is this because they constructed the killing pens there? Is the delay in actually closing the gate door just until the utilities are marked?
4:54 pm You know they always say "there's no money in the budget for that" and there always is money. It's just that they have already placed a claim on it. There's always money for a crosswalk because, umm..., it's just PAINT.
I got a couple crosswalks painted at an intersection a year after it was improved by hounding Tom Kelley. He said it was on the "to do" list but he and the contracted help didn't get around to doing it without the nagging.
I had to highlight the hazards of the intersection repeatedly. It's good to have a list of observations handy when writing emails or discussing these matters in public.
Don't listen to their talk about the slope of the intersection, either. You really have to have the "are you kidding me?" down pat for these types of conversations. Once they realize you are on to their tricks, I think they get uncomfortable and begin to cave....
All joking aside, when this corral and kill experiment is closed at the end of March how will we be able to determine its effectiveness?
We - to date - have no idea of how many deer there actually are in Mt. Lebanon so how will we know if we reduced the population by 30, 40 or 50%?
Commissioner Fraasch indicates people are already applauding the cull and can see results, yet she claims we haven't killed one deer... so how will we know if it's working or not?
Will we weigh deer poop? Count uneaten leaves?
For a $75,000 expenditure you'd think there would be a plan in place to measure the results?
It can't be deaths prevented, for that you'd have to have a benchmark and so far, no one has died from a deer incident in recent MTL memory.
Gee, I think we should have some university come out and examine our Mt. Lebanon deer.
Think about it. These deer are invisible to aerial survey cameras. The last aerial survey uncovered 196, a 42% drop from the previous survey of 342, but Linfante's expert is sure we have 100/acre or 600 total.
Maybe military snipers will want to come out and study them for their camoflouge techniques.
Then there is the deers' ability to withstand collisions with a ton of moving cars and SUVs.
Somehow, these Super Deer are able to walk away from collisions that are killing and maiming countless Lebo drivers and passengers year-after-year, then go out and propogate like rabbits.
We shouldn't be killing these animals, we should be studying the beast., they're remarkable creatures.
11:47 PM, the utility companies are marking their utility lines. This should have been done before any work started at the killing sites. He should have called 811. Firing bullets (explosives) near natural gas lines isn't the smartest thing to do, wouldn't you say?
11:59 PM, I had expressed concern at several commission meetings about the crosswalk not being painted in front of Washington School. So did a former commissioner who lived in the apartments across the street. We were told that it was PennDot's responsibility.
12:06 AM, we have no idea how many deer are in Mt. Lebanon. Steve Feller admitted that to me during Citizen Comments. When I asked President Bendel the same question, he shut me down.

"Do I have to call every 10 days if I am still working on the site?
If an excavator removes their equipment and vacates a work site for more than two (2) business days, the excavator must notify the one call center again."
This would also apply to Benner if he removes his bait stations before shooting or if he doesn't shoot within two business days. He will be required to call the one call center again.

My new mantra is: money for crosswalks, not crosshairs. After all, Linfunny is all about safety, right? Well, Krissy, time to show it. Pull this stupid and ineffective deer idea and start addressing real community needs like crosswalks, sidewalks, etc.
If the garden ladies dont like it, they can leave. Their time has come and gone anyway. ( it's not the 80's, girls. Nobody knows who you are and nobody cares. Move along. Go on, get going and take your silly gardens with you).

This comment bothers me, and I believe gives the reader an incorrect impression of the division within Mt. Lebanon on this deer killing program. How many people did Matt talk to - 2 people? The most recent KDKA POLL showed that 82.64% of Mt. Lebanon residents opposed this deer cull, and only 17.36% approved.
The residents (2?) that Matt talked to were divided on which cruel and inhumane, and ineffective deer killing program that they would prefer. Great!
