Also, the No Trespassing Zones have been expanded at the Connor Road site. I was told that this was also done at Robb Hollow.

Mr. Benner, there are 8 deer in Mt. Lebanon's Galleria for an upcoming movie. Ch-ching! |
Update March 16, 2015 3:30 PM Commissioner Kelly Fraasch has posted the week's kill on her blog. Deer Program from Monday, March 9 - Monday March 16. Kelly has also included:
From March 9th-March 13th Animal Control has picked up 4 dead deer, on Locust, Scott, Moreland and Birch.
Moreland is just above the corral/killing trap at Robb Hollow. I have no details as to how the deer had died.
Update March 16, 2015 9:29 PM The mapmaker was being conservative in relation to the location of the accident involving the motorcycle accident on Connor Road. The turkeys may have been closer to the corral.

Who is Carrie Doe? Now she is ripping on the Humane Society via the PG
This deer cull has really highlighted how many heartless people live within our region.
Bullet holes through the plastic proves they are unsafe.
You NEVER shoot at anything without knowing what is behind or beyond your intended target.
McDonough should know perfectly well this is negligence.
This amateur hour is going to get someone hurt or worse.
There are tons of heartless people out there.. i was walking my dog today down Jefferson and spoke to quite a few of people and 100% of them were in complete agreement on the cull...they felt the animals were just a pest and were tired of them sleeping in their huge back yards..
And possibly shooting uphill from what sounds like the ground, and not from an elevated platform downward and no enforcement by the corn cops other than expanding the no trespassing zone and harassing public park and conservancy walkers even in daylight, non-kill hours.
And the 4 commissioners are absolutely silent along with their trained and pampered flunky Feller.
There is also a steel tree stand with ladder back in the woods between Country Club Park and the corral. It goes up the tree about 15 feet.
8:38. Remember that a lot of these people have knifed their way up the corporate ladder for that bigger house. Deer are just something else to be crushed. You can see the abject sterility of their lives at functions. Cosmetic smiles* and makeup can't hide it, and some use copious amounts thereof.
Deer happily eating or dozing remind them of their barren, cold existence. Their bank accounts may be full, but to what end? Let them steep in their misery.
*based on the dentition of a certain Mt. Lebanon official, there are exceptions
That is an awesome map and some great pictures!!! This is what journalists used to do many years ago! You guys rock!!!
How to get this information out more?
Those community bulletin boards in grocery stores are a thought. Notes with "find out current news on the deer situation: lebocitizens.blogspot.com"
Maybe tear-offs on the paper ads? Maybe have some cheap business cards printed up and left and posted everywhere?
Go for it, 9:58 PM! Thanks.
Elaine
Tree stand not next to the corral?
They're taking deer by sharpshooting!!!
Just what they did in '
06 and 08.
Or someboy is poaching an the the corn/urine police should be after them instead of harassing law abiding citizens!
10:13 WOW! If they are taking deer outside the corrals, isn't that a complete violation of the contract???
I noticed that people are talking about this issue on twitter, Facebook, craigslist (pittsburgh), etc. You can share the images there and you might want to send it to Nicholas Kristof at the NYTimes. He would be horrified and he advocates for animal rights, children's rights, etc.
The more this Mt Lebanon deer cull develops, the more it reminds me of the Hunger Games: the ugly plastic and vain elite and the working folk kept under heel until.... Anyway, we need a "Mocking Deer" symbol...

The police stopped highway traffic for deer fleeing rising rivers in N Kentucky.
I think it's important to see how other regions care for people and wildlife.
10:18 pm Maybe that metal ladder was there before?
Go for it, 10:20 PM! Thanks.

carrie doe aka carrie steel is scary narey! Marilyn Narey the witch responsible for the petition with signatures from "residents" although they have proven to be outside of Lebo too!! HAHAHAHAHA. what a lonely ratchetey old woman. The kids call this an

COSMETIC SMILES- ha. Like Scarey Dr. Narey. How much surgery has she had? and she STILL don't look good. A good skin cleansing regimen will do wonders people- and maybe make you enjoy nature and animals...
10:20 speaking of Facebook there are pictures of PGC-sanctioned out of season deer exterminators Merlin and Gene on their other company website.
They are holding a Prioria UAV at a "conservation convention" in New Jersey earlier this month.
https://www.facebook.com/RemoteIntelligence
Was murdering deer out of season a popular topic at the New Jersey Conservation Foundation's Land Conservation Rally?
Ask their trustees.

NY state mandates that public schools educate children in humane animal treatment.
http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/nycode/EDN/I/17/809
This entire mess of the deer euthanasia is a lawsuit waiting to happen! How is it that the public is barred from walking near a public park? The taxpayers have every right to be in a park and not near the post areas! I do hope the ACLU is on top of this! It smells like a class action suit against the muni for discrimination. State and Federal laws are being violated!
So a licensed educator in PA impersonated a Mt Lebanon municipal official via a fake email address in order to ensure that an inhumane and cruel deer cull would continue to go forward by disparaging Laura Simon and others online?

to: 11: 40 pm YES! She has some screws loose, maybe the above mentioned face lifts, etc.
11:40 pm >>>>> how to prove it?
Call me naive or just ignorant but I find it hard to believe that an educator from Duquesne University would stoop so low as to create two aliases, Carrie Doe and Carrie Steel, in addition to fabricating forged local government email addresses for both herself and Elaine. C'mon now.

10:20 there are more things popping up on social media that are new to many (not everyone is on Facebook or Twitter)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGItONfaiFc
Cross-linking all sites everyone is aware of increases visibility. I try to mention this place, but am not very good with some of the newer stuff. Spread the word any way you can!
10:40, if that ladder and tree stand was there before it means someone's been hunting there and the safe zones are in effect!
Are you telling me golf course employees never noticed it. Maybe they are some of the municipal archery volunteers that were trying to get their illegal hunting legalized.
The corn police should be investigating this, fingerprinting the ladder and catching the culprits instead of harassing citizens near parks.
Gnarlybark...how about adding the lebocitizens url?
Or perhaps enjoying nature and animals will make you need less surgery and cosmetic fixes. Her evil is showing through a little too much
No idea who gnarlybark is, add lebocitizens.blogspot.com in the comments?
Not everyone is on all these networks, those who are and can, please do!!!
I've read a number of Carrie Doe and Carrie Steel's posts on a few Almanac articles, and my impression was that it was Commissioner Linfante. The comment content sounded like her, i.e. the same lame arguments she has used over and over again. So that's who I thought it was.
Whoever "Carrie" (deer, doe, dodo) is, she makes Sissy Spacek's Carrie look well-adjusted.
Maybe somebody put deer lure in her jug of 'Snooki by Nicole Polizzi'
Read Pass Time's reply to my comment in John Hayes' Finding a 'palatable answer' to deer overpopulation.
"Elaine you portrayed the first aerial survey as invalid on your Lebo Citizens site. You're the one picking evidence. The entire anti cull effort has no cohesive plan. You've advocated sterilization in the past and now you say no problem exists. It would seem you're more interested in being against the person who beat you in the commissioner race then being in favor of anything." That would be Kristen Linfante. She has said multiple times that I am against her on every issue, and that I lost to her in the commissioner race. She still hasn't figured out that I ran against the Republican incumbent in the Primary. I never ran against her. Kristen ran unopposed in the May 2011 Primary.
Elaine
Love Deer Hunter's reply to Pass Time. Now they are talking about my Linkedin profile in the PG's article. Too bad Deer Hunter doesn't see the irony about bashing anonymous commenters on my blog and doesn't know how to spell "lose."

"Mr. Huntington's role in the project will be to assist in site selection and development of methods, as well as assist Brian Benner and other technicians in the field. He would train the field staff and provide day-to-day oversight, however, not remain onsite throughout the project."
Why is he still here?
Where does it say his role in the project is to file false police reports against Mt. Lebanon residents enjoying their public parks on a sunny afternoon?
7:27 AM, Huntington was added to the amended game commission permit, now, one of five approved.
Elaine
Elaine, the link I provided was the proposal to the municipality for professional services.
The game commission permit is a separate document with a different government agency.

Welcome to Powdermill Nature Reserve
Powdermill Nature Reserve, the environmental research center of Carnegie Museum of Natural History, has been dedicated to its mission of research, education, and conservation for more than 50 years. It is a place for scientists, for students, and for families who are interested in the natural world. ThePowdermill bird migration research program is home to the one of the longest continually running bird banding stations in the United States. A wide variety of public education programs serve children and adults. Researchers from around the world conduct diverse long- and short-term scientific studies in herpetology, botany, invertebrate zoology, and ornithology."
According to the Hayes Post Gazette article, Powdermill encourages independent hunting of deer. Parents might want to think twice about letting their kids take a field trip there since apparently the grounds are open to hunters whose only check is to have a hunting license. Wow!
http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/outdoors/2015/03/15/Mt-Lebanon-deer-cull-begins-four-killed/stories/201503150110
Hayes writes in his column: "Mt. Lebanon commissioners agreed to pay the contractor $500 per deer up to $75,000 a year to take enough whitetails to reduce deer-car collisions by 50 percent in five years. Technical and regulatory issues delayed the start of operations."
One would think a good reporter would ask how they determined that a $75,000 investment would reduce deer-car collisions by 50% in five years.
No that's too hard for Mr. Hayes, instead he'll just spew the MTL propaganda.
The Post Gazette is a joke paper, best used for lining bird cages.
I'm still trying to figure out how killing deer at McNeilly is going to help reduce deer-car collisions by 50% in five years. Adding a second corral/trap at the golf course won't do much either, unless they meant to say deer-cart collisions.
Elaine
Speaking of birds...
http://triblive.com/mobile/6021833-96/parker-museums-carnegie
I'll bet the Carnegie Museums new president just loves having the institution thrown into this Mt. Lebanon debacle by the Post Gazette.
If anything, Elaine, since a lot of these corrals are meant to lure deer in and are placed on the periphery of Mt. Lebanon we should be seeing a spike in deer-car collisions.
We instituted a no deer feeding ordinance which seems to have reduced the number of deer in Lebo according to the 2013 and 2014 aerial surveys and now Benner's set up feeding stations on the borders to attract them.
With no independent oversight, how do we know Benner's people aren't shooting deer out in Washington County or some remote place and driving them into Mt. Lebanon so they can claim the $500 bounty?
Nobody can close to see whether they are actually pulling the deer out of the corrals!
The Lebomag.com poll ask "My favorite Mt. Lebanon 'spring thing' is:".
Now they can a new reply-- • being stopped by police and asked for ID while taking a pleasant walk NEAR a public park!
Damnt, wasnt or isnt there a size limit on the corrals? It looks like the size of barn.
Also if you live near the golf course or sunset hills.. you should keep you cats inside because they could get shot if they go inside the corrals.
I wonder if the corn police will attempt to have the cats near the corrals show them ID and give them their phone numbers.
Nothing would surprise me any more.
How far do cats wander from home? There is one posted as missing in MTL today but I don't think it lives near a corral.
I noticed there was a Lebo Alert that the Golf Course was open today.
Does the municipality know that normal people don't like to golf next to killing traps?
Are they kidding. This from Lebomag's Facebook.
Make this your view today. The Golf Course is opening at 9 today.
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10152882884128666&substory_index=0&id=177840613665&refid=17&_ft_&__tn__=%2As
Be sure to bring proper ID, the police may stop you for trespassing.
I wonder which rules apply should your ball go near or into a corral?
The Royal & Ancient Rules of Golf or the Police Departments "Stay the F*ck Away from Benner's corrals?
As far as I am aware, Powdermill has not received permission from the PGC to hunt at night, over bait, using AR-15's out of season.
I'd feel safer in Powdermill during any season than Mt. Lebanon with Benner's nitwits running around in the night playing Deer Commando.
Increased human traffic on the golf course should impact deer comfort level.
If you golf, be sure not to discard your half eaten apples in areas away from the corrals. That might confuse the deer.
Looking at the PDF aerial view of the recently found corral on the golf course it is in an area I believe to be in bounds.
It takes a very bad slice to put a ball there but it is an area in play and players should be able to play from that spot or recover their ball.
Perhaps Matt Kluck can confirm that.
Correction.
Mislabeled a bad hit near the corral from the 8th tee as a slice. It's really called a shank shot.
Ugh, Lebomag ... I just let 'em know on their 'drive safely to avoid accidents' post...
- Jason M.
Think I just spotted the deer killers headed towards Banksville Road 2:24 pm Monday. They didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign, Coleman.
I wonder if those dead deer that were picked up are being inspected for bullet wounds...just say'n.
In the interest of quality data collection and reporting, Elaine, I do not feel you should include dead deer on streets picked up by animal control as deer officially killed per the permit by Benner in your tally.
While those deer were likely killed by the horrific biological processes initiated by consumption of fermented corn in late winter, Benner's failure to handle them himself in the manner deemed by the permit should be recognized in the counts, HIGHLIGHTED, and reported to the GAME COMMISSION AS REASON TO WITHDRAW THE PERMIT IMMEDIATELY.
Nowhere in the permit does it state that finding dead deer on streets and lawns is OK nor does it indicate that killing deer via acidosis or enterotoxemia is permissible.

Do turkeys like corn feed? If so, a motorcycle rider crash into the back of a Subaru Outback, who had stopped for turkeys crossing Connor Road near the corral/killing trap. Motorcycle rider hurt crashing into car that stopped for turkeys
Are we going to start a turkey incident report? Culling the turkeys next?
Elaine
I'M NOT, 6:38 PM!
Elaine
Does the municipality have liability in this horrific accident since they are responsible for attracting multiple turkeys to the corn corrals?
Didn't their actions create a dangerous situation that caused this?
Get ready folks, next we'll have a turkey cull and then probably a squirrel cull after that. These damned wildlife are too much for Mt. Lebanon drivers to navigate.
Throughout the country, feeding wildlife is discouraged because doing so enhances the likelihood of disease, predation and human conflicts.
Wild turkey DO EAT and ENJOY corn.
So with a bait site full of corn off Connor Road, does one have to be a licensed private detective to suggest that maybe, just maybe, the wild turkey have discovered the site and were coming or going from the site causing a "human conflict" resulting in the injury of a motorcyclist?
Sure, you may argue this is a coincidence. If so, please, somebody, share the data on how often wild turkey/motor vehicle accidents have occurred at that location.
The motorcyclist might like to take a look at the PGC permit.
Videocamera footage from the Connor Road kill site would indicate, potentially, whether the turkey were feeding there.
The accident occurred around 4:20 pm. 3/16
7:03. Merlin can take care of the turkey problem. Only $200 per bird.
Call now! Operators are standing by!
Do we know where the coral is located at over by Connor? Any GPS coordinates?
I live on Moreland and I was present when the deer was located in my neighbor's back yard. I spoke with the very nice animal control guy. He said that it had been dead for a long while as it was frozen to the ground. He thought that it was possible that it had been hit by a car and only made it to a back yard. He felt around the body of the deer but couldn't say for sure that he felt any broken bones but that it was emaciated. Could have died from anything but it had been there for a long while.
7:58 pm So you are saying a dead deer of unknown size was frozen in someone's backyard indefinitely?
Uh-huh. And scavengers don't live in Pittsburgh, either. They are all frozen to the ground too.
The coral site off Connor is about 40 yards to the left of the brick gas building looking from Connor and about 40 yards from the curb.
Funny ..... actually the turkeys will love picking through the straw in the killing mangers. They will find various insects, seeds and yes corn. The straw would interest them more.
People who feed wild turkeys with corn have to "deer proof" their feeding stations.
Did Benner, the genius, turkey proof the deer kill sites loaded with corn?
Could this accident be an unintended consequence of the ill thought out experimental deer cull?
http://www.leelanaunews.com/news/OldArchive/Outdoors/Deep_snow_bait_ban_challenge_hungry_wildlife.html
6 deer ..... kidding right.?
6 X $500 = $3000
Time for a new heading .... "BENNER'S EPIC FAIL" or "BANKRUPT IN MT LEBANON" or even "I QUIT, COMING HOME HONEY".
The dead deer in the yard died laughing watching Benner's gang.
8:29 we just had the thaw/rain melted a lot of the piles. Try to picture the back far corner between 2 properties where there are bushes, etc. Not sitting smack in the middle of the yard. It was actually on the property next door to the woman who called. (On elderly woman's property.). Elementary school boys who live in the house found it as it was actually warm enough to go outside. There had been some....um....well, something had started to make a meal out of the behind of the deer. It sounds nasty but I had actually taken some pictures of the deer but I deleted them as my daughters are always looking at my pictures and I really saw no reason to keep them. I hope that clarified sort of where it was, etc.
I moved to Mt. Lebanon in 1966. In the 60's & 70's in addition to deer we had many pheasant, wild turkey, raccoon, and a lot more rabbits, squirrel, wild birds and chipmunk as neighbors to associate with - it was wonderful.
Well we can't have Marlin Perkins Wild Kingdom here.
Merlin Benner's Barren Kingdom is so much more flower friendly.
How come we don't see news coverage of women in other communities crying about deer poop in their yards, being attacked by deer as they step out their front door or living in constant feel of Lyme desease?
Do we have a community of prissy princesses afraid of their shadows?
10:22 You are living through the wussification of Mt Lebanon. Children cannot play in rain and adults cannot coexist with deer. What is next?
Seriously, folks. I drive down Connor Road many times a day schlepping kids. I have NEVER seen turkeys there. Mission Hills has a lovely flock. Along Mt. Lebanon Blvd., they should have a turkey crossing sign...unbelievable. Of course, WE have all adapted and stop as they stroll across the street during morning rush hour. But, never seen turkeys on Connor. Hmmmm....it's gotta make you wonder.
Talk about upsetting the ecosystem! THANK YOU MT. LEBANON COMMISSIONERS FOR PLAYING GOD!
What is with these fat, menopausal garden queens that can't go outside and deal with the deer? I have deer almost everyday. We depose of the deer poo, go outside and make noise, clap out hands, use the water hose on them, tell them to "move on", and they leave! I have a deer path on the hill behind my house. It is not a issue for us. Four years ago, a deer was resting 5 feet away from my back porch, chewing her cud. We sat and looked at each other about 2 hours. It was peaceful. No problem! She eventually left. Yes, they eat my roses, but, so what! The plants can be replaced! Now, what is the damn problem!!!!!
Because of severe clinical depression, i am on disability thus i am home during the day..Especially during the summer months, i enjoy watching the various groups of deer that wonder through my backyard as i tending to my veggie garden..Like me they are very docile and somewhat afraid. The thought of the murder of these dear creature has kept me up most nights. I know we're at the half way point,, but i think i may have a complete mental breakdown before the end of the month..Does anyone know the name of the counselor that spoke at last Tuesday's meeting... Im seriously thinking of calling someone..I dont think the Commissioners ever thought about the fragile citizens who live in the community and what this brutality will or has done to our sanity..
If that motorcycle crash on Conner road was adjacent to where the killing corral is located, I'm sure the corn feeder in the killing corral was attracting the turkeys to cross the road. If someone knows the name of the motorcycle and car owners, they should be notified that Mt. Lebanon should be held liable for this crash. How many times were they even warned about his potential problem.
10:44. Hang in there. If nothing else this has shown how many people do actually care.
If we save just one deer from Benner's gang, just one, we have won. The more we save the better.
The point is we ARE making a difference! You are making a difference.
We may not be able to save the whole world, just a piece of it. If that's what is meant to be, then so be it. Far better than if we stood by and did nothing.

So Bwana Benner and his entourage with its hi-tech corrals, cameras, and corn feeders (and police protection) have managed to kill just 6 deer at a costs of $500/deer. Don't over look his consultation fee of $12,000 that convinced our leaders to proceed with this farce, making the cost to date actually $2,500/deer killed.
While without any apparent effort we culled 4 deer without spending a dime, except to pick up the bodies.
Brilliant stewardship of our tax dollars commissions, plus your actions may have possibly contributed to a motorcyclist almost dying.
March 16, 2015 at 10:44 PM
Yes 10:44 PM there are others in Mt. Lebanon actually suffering from PTSD who have appealed to the Commissioners not to allow lethal weapons into Mt. Lebanon. One young girl was a high school student (I don't want to mention her name in this post), who suffers from PTSD and who was brave enough to speak at the Commission meeting, and pleaded with the Commissioners not to bring lethal weapons into Mt. Lebanon. Her pleas fell of deaf ears. She was ignored by all the Commissioners, except for Commissioner Fraasch. So that basically tells you the measure of character of our Commissioners. How do you ignore the pleas from a young girl who suffers from PTSD, just to please a handful of elite snobs, because they refuse to plant deer resistant flowers. It's unconscionable! I would advise anyone with PTSD or suffering from any mental distress over the Commissioners turning your neighborhood into a shooting gallery and inhumane slaughterhouse to sue Mt. Lebanon. They were given notice that this plan could cause extreme trauma to many residents suffering from PTSD and mental distress, and they ignored that notice and implemented the plan any way.
March 16, 2015 at 10:42 PM
Ex-Commissioner Barbara Logan launched the 2006/07 and 2007/08 deer killing program hoping to get tax payers to kill the deer in her yard. (see her press quotes below, no car-deer collisions mentioned). She is the puppet master behind today's deer killing program. Logan trys to leverage her power and influence in Mt. Lebanon's Democrat party with new candidates to get them committed to her personal deer killing agenda. (FYI, I'm Democrat) Commissioner Linfante is her puppet. Linfante's mission from day one was to launch another and ongoing deer killing program. Barbara Logan endorsed Linfante, served on Linfante's executive committee during her campaign, and I believe donated to her campaign fund too.
ex-Commissioner Barbara Logan in her own words:
"My shouting and screaming at them does nothing," she said.
"My concern is that if, or when, this plan happens, many of us will be disappointed because our deer are not in an area where we can cull them," said Commissioner Barbara Logan.
"I'm afraid that once we start culling them, they'll lay low until it is over,"added Logan
Ms. Logan said she understood that some people are upset at the thought of killing deer, but whether they die from old age, disease, hunger or hunting, "One way or another, the deer are going to die."
Personal Injury attorneys, when you're doing research for your clients, make sure to review this entire blog. You will see the evidence of the commissioners you should name in the lawsuit and the documents that prove their culpability in this mess.
The Associated Press picked up the turkey motorcycle accident story and there is no mention of the corn bait sitting out next to the road the flock were crossing. In other states, if baiting is permitted, it is not allowed to be placed so close to a road.
