Of all people, Conor Lamb...

Your new TV ad features Michalina Pendzich saying something about your ability to work with both sides and bring new blood to Congress. Michalina Pendzich, one of the most politically polarizing operatives in our community, is speaking on your behalf? She is a cold-hearted, uncompromising deer killer.

You might want to rethink your ad.

WHAT? HER? Does the ad id her? That is a mistake.

YUCK. He just lost some local votes.

As an animal advocate this is very UPSETTING and DISTURBING!!! I've been a BIG Conor Lamb supporter. My only question is that maybe Conor doesn't know how the animal advocate community feels about Michalina Pendzich and her efforts to slaughter all the deer in Mt. Lebanon, and who refused humane and non-lethal deer population management offered by the Humane Society of the United States. Very upsetting!!!!!!

Irony, she says we need new “blood” in government - LOL!

One of the problems is that the Mt. Lebanon Democrat Committee has been dominated by wealthy elitists like ex-Commissioner Barbara Logan who is the main architect of the deer slaughter (It's a personal obsession and agenda for her) and her socialite wannabe todies, i.e. ex-Commissioner Kristen Linfante, etc., who wanted her support to run for commissioner. These are not your typical Democrats. The Mt. Lebanon Democrat Committee has been infected and made sick by these characters who don't represent the mainstream Democrat principles or constituents.

Remember Ex-Commissioner Barbara Logan's press quotes from the 2006/2007 time frame. BTW, notice that there are NO mention of car-deer collisions.

"My shouting and screaming at them does nothing," she said.

"My concern is that if, or when, this plan happens, many of us will be disappointed because our deer are not in an area where we can cull them," said Commissioner Barbara Logan.

"I'm afraid that once we start culling them, they'll lay low until it is over,"added Logan

Ms. Logan said she understood that some people are upset at the thought of killing deer, but whether they die from old age, disease, hunger or hunting, "One way or another, the deer are going to die."

"Mt. Lebanon dedicated an entire weekend to celebrating gardening as it hosted its 25th annual tour. Eight houses were featured, including the home of Barbara and Robert Logan, which was showcased during the inaugural event." [Mt. Lebanon celebrates gardening, The Almanac, 7/14/15]

Just a reminder of the KDKA Poll results, "Are You in Favor of The Mt. Lebanon Deer Culling Plan?"

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2015/02/18/mt-lebanon-deer-culling-plan-in-effect/

RESULTS:
NO - 82.59%
YES - 17.41%

Also, remember the petition submitted to the Commission, Mt. Lebanon: Stop the deer culling! with over 9,000 supporters oppose to the deer slaughter in Mt. Lebanon.

Opening paragraph of 5 page letter from Laura Simon, HSUS' Wildlife ecologist, to the Mt. Lebanon Commission.

Nov. 8th, 2011

Dan Miller
Commission President
Mt. Lebanon Commission
710 Washington Road
Mt. Lebanon, PA 15228

Dear Commissioner Miller and other members of the Commission,

On behalf of The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and our 638,000 Pennsylvania members and supporters, I am writing to voice our firm opposition to the proposed plan to allow hunting or deer culling (bait and shoot) as a means of reducing deer related conflicts. Arbitrarily plucking deer out of the environment will not achieve the Township's goals. Instead, this misguided plan is likely to expose the public to increased safety risks and the trauma of seeing wounded deer. There are far better ways to resolve this (and any other) - deer problem.

A few excerpts from Laura Simon, The Humane Society of the United States Wildlife Ecologist's, letter published in the Post-Gazette Jan 23, 2015

SHOOTING DEER WON'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Although an archery deer kill was called off recently, Mt. Lebanon’s decision to pursue other lethal options is a big mistake. Simply put, killing deer won’t resolve Mt. Lebanon’s deer issues, but it will waste taxpayer dollars and result in an endless cycle of killing.

As long as the community maintains dozens of floral islands that entice deer onto the streets and as long as residents don’t utilize preventative gardening strategies, the problems will continue. Killed deer will be soon replaced by those wandering in from the surrounding deer-rich habitat.

Deer confound efforts to control their numbers in other ways. Where they’re hunted, deer numbers bounce back. When deer have better nutrition, they breed at a younger age and have higher fawn survival. The net result is a population surge after any hunting decline.

The deer-killing methods to be used are understandably controversial: Bow-hunting incurs a high crippling rate, and it’s hard to fire a metal bolt into the brain of a struggling deer with enough precision to ensure a humane death.

The Humane Society of the United States urges the Mt. Lebanon community to show true leadership and invest in an innovative, effective, humane and long-term solution. That is, one that utilizes deer-resistant gardening strategies, state-of-the-art fertility control options and successful collision reduction strategies already in operation elsewhere.

6:24,

Very funny. It's sad, too, that Micalina is so very blood thirsty. She gives me the creeps.

Anonymous said...

Poor choice on Lamb's part. I heard his campaign staff is a mess. Obviously, they didn't do their homework before running this ad.

Anonymous said...

You folks do realize that the 18th Congressional District extends beyond your bubble, right? Do you think the voters in Greene and Westmoreland County give two hoots about a deer cull in Lebo?

Anonymous said...

12:48 pm You do realize that animal advocate opposition to blatant animal cruelty doesn't stop at Mt. Lebanon's property line. The Humane Society of the United States has over 638,000 Pennsylvania members and supporters, many of which live in Greene and Westmoreland County.

Anonymous said...

12:48 They don't give two hoots about a deer cull in Mt. Lebanon, but if Lamb wants to gain support from anti-gun voters in Lebo he isn't doing himself any favors with the ad.

Anonymous said...

Right 12:48 the voters from those districts would probably line up for the right to shoot the deer!

Anonymous said...

What kind of people would want to line up for an opportunity to shoot a semi-tame doe and her fawns, that would likely walk right up to them to be murdered. I'm sure these would be people of high moral character? What kind of person posts that kind of comment?

Lebo Citizens said...

We're kind of getting off track here, but to answer your question, 2:38 PM, I was "lucky enough" to see someone yesterday coming out of Robb Hollow where the leaves are dumped. He was driving a big, black pick up truck coming down the ramp on to Kelso/Robb Hollow. On a Sunday morning. Since it is a "cull," they can kill on Sundays. The back of the truck had plastic covering his kill. So upsetting.
Elaine

Anonymous said...

Obviously, Conor Lamb wants "those kind of people" 2:38 , since he has blood thirsty Michalina's testimonial.

Anonymous said...

Lucky for Lamb, people outside Mt. Lebanon do not know anything about Michalina or what she looks like on the TV ad. He will lose votes in Mt. Lebanon because of the Michalina feature.
He cannot afford to lose votes in Mt. Lebanon. We are his base.

Anonymous said...

News flash 2:07, Lamb isn’t anti-gun. Granted, there’s probably a greater chance of meaningful gun reform with him in office as opposed to Saccone; but Lamb is not anti-gun.

And 1:56, how would you suggest that the animal rights advocates in Greene and Westmoreland Counties identify the woman in the ad as pro-cull?

Anonymous said...

Lamb has to carry Mount Lebanon. It's his greatest strength. Step outside of his hometown. You see more Saccone signs. He needs Mount Lebanon to win. In any District he runs in.

Lebo Citizens said...

3:52 PM and 6:12 PM are absolutely correct. Like I had said originally, of all the Mt. Lebanon people to pick for his testimonials, he went with Michalina? Yikes! Leave it to her to mention blood. Michalina is not someone who cares about working with both sides.
Elaine

Anonymous said...

3:57,

Correct. Lamb is not anti-gun. In fact, one of his first ads show him with an AR-15 and says, "He still likes to shoot."

At the first debate between Lamb and Saccone, just days after the Florida school massacre, both candidates said that they do not support any ban of public access to assault type weapons.

Michalina likes guns, too.

Anonymous said...

I think Lamb's perhaps subconscious decision to include Mikaline in the ad was to underscore his love of guns.

Anonymous said...

Lamb is a dud. But so is Saccone. Choice of evils, I guess.

OMG,, the just sight of her makes me want to run... she is cold and heartless and wont let you forget that your personal problems are nothing compared to her Polish mother who was in a Prisoner Camp during WW2.. of course she had to endure much more that anybody else..i also know that this ice queen has been canvassing for Lamb for months door to door in the surrounding communities and Lebo.. infact today,, i saw her walking down Mt Lebo Blvd,,,

3/6/2018..7:45am.. Conor is clueless about these deer-killing competitive women..most are over 70 and they are just like grandmothers to him...

Anonymous said...

I agree with u 9:02. He probably has no clue about the background of the deer killing grandma in his commercial. He just wants to win. I can’t believe he doesn’t have a strong stance on the ARs though.

Anonymous said...

Shame on him 9:02/9:51.

Anonymous said...

7:21 here again. Do you want someone who is clueless 9:02/9:51?

Anonymous said...

Well, I truly hope that Conor is clueless. You can't expect him to micro-manage everything going on in his campaign or be the director of his commercials. My concern, is that I don't know if he was clueless in this divisive selection or not, and how it affects others who want to support and vote for him. The Mt. Lebanon Democratic Committee needs to throw these old blood thirsty witches who choose animal cruelty over humane solutions to the curb, and move the party forward, or get new party leadership that will.

Anonymous said...

The Mt. Lebanon Democratic Committee is a mess. However, that committee has no connection to Mikalina.

Anonymous said...

3/7/2018.. not sure if its his Ivy League credentials or that he looks like a young Kennedy,, but I do know these over 70 grannies,, Michalena included have been seriously knocking on doors for months,,,they are not looking to convert the Reps but make sure all registered Dems in Lebo and the surrounding communities get to the polls on Election Day... also conor is a 30 something fresh face so what would he really care about the deer?? he does and say what his handlers tell him....

Anonymous said...

12:09 PM, with all due respect I think your comment, "also conor is a 30 something fresh face so what would he really care about the deer?? he does and say what his handlers tell him...." is pretty stupid.

I don't know Conor, but I'm sure he is not a puppet for his "handlers". He served as a Marine and a federal prosecutor. I think he's his own man, or he wouldn't be running for Congress of the United States.

In addition, in the last debate he called out Saccone for voting against Libre's Law. Libre's Law was a landmark anti-cruelty law passed last summer. Libre's Law had overwhelming bipartisan support. The law was named after an extremely neglected and abused puppy named Libre. The law calls for increased penalties for animal abuse in Pa. He called out Saccone's vote against this bill as a matter of basic decency and character. Saccone demanded to respond to this claim, and when given the opportunity, he did a typical politician change the subject and responded to something else dance. He never responded.

So I do believe that a candidate's position on issues like animal cruelty goes directly to the character and decency of the candidate. I know that I won't vote for a candidate that votes against an animal cruelty bill like Libre's Law. So to blow off an issue of animal cruelty whether it's a dog or a deer, i.e. suffering is suffering, like you did in your comment just seems stupid to me at least, because for me it's a judge of the candidate's character and decency.

Anonymous said...

The fate of 90,000 wild horses and burros are at stake as I type. If the majority of the current legislators in congress vote to strip away the long established protection for wild horses and burros, then we will see a horrific slaughter of over 90,000 wild horses and burros, which will go down in history as a major inhumane debacle on this congress and administration. And we just witnessed the turn around on Trump's commitment to stop the trophy hunting of Elephants in Africa. So my point is that the decency and character of candidates we vote for congress will be the decision makers on major issues of cruelty vs. decency and humanity. So for me, this is a critical issue that I will be evaluating between Lamb and Saccone. I have no doubt how Saccone will vote on these issues, but I'm just not sure how Conor Lamb will, and so his views on animal cruelty to dogs, deer, horses, burros, elephants and lions is critically important to me.

3-7-2018 1:28pm,,, I live near Conor Lamb and frequently see cars with DC plates outside his house which is campaign headqtrs.. do you think they are visiting for a game of cards??!! you can go on believing he is own man but why did he moved into his grandmothers house with girlfriend right before Christmas but property was transferred to his name in Feb 2017??

Anonymous said...

Those who are ripping Saccone for his position on Libre's Law do not have your facts straight. If you bothered to fully inform yourselves you would know that the bill (have you even read it?) was so broad that it left many unanswered questions for our agricultural industry - PA's most important industry. It does not relate to what you are saying it does.

Read the Bill: http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/billinfo/billinfo.cfm?syear=2017&sind=0&body=H&type=B&bn=1238

Now, read the MEMO: http://www.legis.state.pa.us//cfdocs/Legis/CSM/showMemoPublic.cfm?chamber=H&SPick=20170&cosponId=2227

Notice, the MEMO states "Accordingly, I will be reintroducing legislation (prior HB 2383) updating and clarifying the existing animal abuse statute and increasing the penalties for abusing any animal."

So, what's the issue? One more example of uninformed voters pursuing sway.

I'm not hear to defend Conor Lamb, but these to recent Saccone posts are totally rediculous. It reminds me of the negative TV attack ads and lies from those outside groups supporting Saccone, and another reason I wouldn't vote for the man.

1:28 pm I don't believe you live near Conor Lamb, and I think your comment is pathetic.

3:06 pm I can't make any sense out of anything you posted defending Saccone's vote against Libre's Law.

The one link you posted goes to an overview of Libre's Law HB 1238, which was sponsored by Todd Stephens (R). And the other link goes to a bill by Rep Frank Dermodes reg aggravated assault on public utility employees.

Libre's Law was passed unanimously by the state senate and overwhelmingly by the state congress. Rep. Saccone was one of very few state reps who voted against it.

When Saccone was given an opportunity in the second debate to explain why he voted against this landmark bipartisan anti-cruelty bill, he didn't respond, but danced around, and changed the subject. That's the fact - Jack! :)

"Republican-aligned groups have greatly outspent Democrats in the race. According to the Washington Post, as of February 27, Saccone-allied groups had spent a total of $9.1 million on the race, between the Congressional Leadership Fund, the National Republican Congressional Committee, and others. Meanwhile, Democratic groups had spent less than $1 million."

So if there are a few D.C. plates outside Lamb's residence, I wonder what the plates look like lined up in front of Saccone's residence. BTW, wasn't Biden here yesterday. Maybe that was his car you saw in front of Lamb's home.

Please don't make me defend Conor Lamb anymore. If you are going to attack him, attack him with some credible facts.

EEK! 5:47> I'm not HERE to defend Conor Lamb, but these TWO recent Saccone posts are totally

RIDICULOUS.

Conor Lamb lives on Washington Road. Check a map. Count the condos on Washington Road. Count

the streets off of Washington Road. Count the houses. I'm a believer.

Conor does live on Washington Road. Unrelated to that, his campaign is getting huge checks from outside the 18th District. He didn’t raise all that money from local $10 donations. His campaign is loaded with millions.

5:47 pm here again. Thanks for the spelling lesson. :) You'd think that after 8 years of Catholic grade school, and nuns with rulers, that I'd learn to spell. :) BTW, you missed another misspelled word. I used "to" instead of "two". Actually, I don't think it's me. I don't think my spell checker can spell. I spell the words correctly, and then she changes it w/o my permission. I swear that's the tooth.

Conor's average donation is ~33. You can't honestly tell me you think LAMB is the one getting big checks from the outside. I got a letter in the mail thanking Lamb for protecting our second amendment rights. Turns out, it came from the Congressional Leadership Fund, Paul Ryan's PAC, and was sent to more liberal areas to drive down liberal turnout — yet it looked like it came deceptively from the Lamb campaign. You want to talk about a Pelosi Puppet? Why is Ryan trying so hard to get Saccone with this garbage advertising?

Anonymous said...

And Obama is a Kenyan Muslim? Painting someone pink is no longer a slur. What's it like living in Russia?

Anonymous said...

I am not sure about the timing of the swearing-in. It should be immediately, after all votes are counted. If the race is extremely close it could take a couple days. If Conor wins, he can run up to Blaise for a quick oath. I don't know who would swear-in Saccone. That's the way it should work. In reality, each of the candidates is probably planning some grand pageant for the swearing-in.

Anonymous said...

Even though I believe Mr. Lamb is not ready for "prime-time" with all recent the Trump troubles, the very bad disturbing Saccone attack ads and of course the march of the grannies I think he is going to be on top of this race...

Anonymous said...

Conor’s campaign hired outside the district professional door knockers. He is paying them and there have been hundreds of them canvassing the district for about five weeks. Those paid canvassers are the reason Conor has been polling better. Truly I think that Conor would like the blue haired ladies to stay home and let the pros do their jobs. I don’t blame him. Mikalina is not going to move anyone toward the polls.

Lebo Citizens said...

9:29 AM, I bet you are a Mt. Lebanon Democrat, not that there is anything wrong with that. (Thanks, Seinfeld.) Just be mindful that Mt. Lebanon is just part of this district. Go outside the bubble and you see a different picture. Don't forget, to avoid criticism or lectures, there are many Republicans who are afraid to admit to being R's, thanks to the media.

We will see how it all shakes out on Tuesday.
