Oh my!

The Post-Gazette endorses Keith Rothfus. Keith Rothfus for Congress: The PG endorses Rothfus in 17th District

Wouldn't you know it? I switched parties so that I could vote for Ray for PA He was the only candidate who was against AR-15, the weapon of war. Conor Lamb ran an ad where he was firing an AR 15 and the voiceover was "Conor still loves to shoot."

I would love to know what his position is with assault weapons now. Robert Bowers used an AR-15, all purchased legally, at the Tree of Life Synagogue.

The Post-Gazette is also endorsing Scott Wagner. 145 comments of name calling followed the editorial.

Was it my imagination, or did Conor Lamb look like the proverbial Mt. Lebanon deer caught in headlights when Mayor Peduto was asking President Trump to stay away ?

&:28, You've got that right. Also, Lamb still will NOT support a ban on sales of assault-type weapons and high capacity magazines. I heard him say it in his last televised debate with Rothfus.

Um. You do realize Lamb is still in the Marine Corps Reserve, right? So he's supposed to morph into some anti-gun nut while still serving in a branch whose bread and butter is shooting? Come on, people. Use a little sense.

“Senate Judiciary Committee Releasees Full Brett Kavanaugh Report: ‘No Evidence’ of Sexual Misconduct”

“In other words, following the separate and extensive investigations by both the Committee and the FBI, there was no evidence to substantiate any of the claims of sexual assault made against Justice Kavanaugh.”

Here’s the entire 414 page report, read ‘em an weep haters.

I wonder if Schumer, Pelosi, Feinstein, Harris, Booker or any of the other ‘divisive’ democrats or man hating feminist will apologize to Justice Kavanaugh and the nation for trying to destroy an honorable man’s reputation?

On another front:
“The suspect in a synagogue vandalism act that forced the cancellation of a Democratic event is reportedly a former City Hall employee who worked on anti-hate crime issues and is a Democratic activist, The Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.”

Yeah Trump made him do it!!! LOL

Thought provoking info from The NY Times:

“If anti-Semitism bypasses consideration as a serious problem in New York, it is to some extent because it refuses to conform to an easy narrative with a single ideological enemy. During the past 22 months, not one person caught or identified as the aggressor in an anti-Semitic hate crime has been associated with a far right-wing group, Mark Molinari, commanding officer of the police department’s Hate Crimes Task Force, told me.”

Seems to fly in the face of the main stream narrative that the President’s dog whistle is stirring up hate. Is the NYPD commanding officer wrong?

7:25 AM, Um, did you happen to see what Fontana (D) had to say about assault weapons?

Sen. Wayne Fontana (D): Gun violence on Pittsburgh's doorstep

"Earlier this year, following the tragic events in Parkland, Fla., I introduced legislation (Senate Bill 17) to establish the Pennsylvania Assault Weapons Ban. Military-grade weapons have no place in civilian life and are unnecessary for self- defense. These guns were made to kill people quickly and efficiently. Proven once again on Oct. 27."

Speaking of military assault weapon bans and democrats pushing for gun control.

https://media.breitbart.com/media/2018/11/black-panthers-4.jpg

Stacey Abrams (D) candidate for Georgia Governor and supported by Oprah Winfrey is an ardent supporter of banning military style weapons.

Interesting dichotomy in the New Black Panthers photo supporting Abrams in the Georgia governors race.

These are very strange times indeed.

What does that have to do with Lamb?
The biggest issue I see with the entire debate is--on one hand, there are people who are experts, or at least gun owners/users with experience and knowledge. On the other side are people who use emotion rather than logic, hysteria rather than facts, and like Fontana, know absolutley nothing about firearms.
Two examples exist just in the paragraph you posted. First, the term "assault weapon". While used generically, there is a specific box in which a gun needs to fit to be considered an "assault weapon", and that is having the option of selective fire. Civilan weapons do not. And the term "assault weapon" is ridiculous. That's like saying if I run over my neighbor, I used an "assault vehicle". But that's a different topic and a semantics battle I will never win.
Second, "military grade" is a broad term. Fontana used it to elicit an emotional reaction: "Oooh, military grade! Civilians shouldn't have weapons of war!"
I understand the tactic but I also roll my eyes. Just calling something "military grade" is meaningless. Also, no military in the world uses the AR-15.
The standard rifles used by our forces are the M16A4 and the M4.
Guns by themselves don't kill anyone. It takes an evil or deranged human to wilfully and without provocation kill other people. On that point we all agree. But the nonsensical idea that banning a certain gun will magically eradicate mental illness and/or evil is ludicrous.
Last week, with attention focused on the synagogue, most people didn't notice a story about a gun being used to save lives. A man and his son were in a McDonald's when someone came in and started to shoot. The man was armed, drew his weapon and ended up hitting the shooter (who I think died as a result). Should that man,the one who prevented what could have been another tragedy, lose his guns? Is he lumped in with a crazy person who wantonly massacres people in church?
Years ago when autotmatic weapons were banned, it had no effect on crime. Why? Because the specific guns that were deemed illegal to buy weren't used in many crimes in the first place. It's the same thing with the AR15. It's pure laziness for anti-gunners to pick on that model. It is just a segue for them to justify taking away ALL firearms.Well, good luck with that.
We need to stop focusing on effect (shootings) and go look at cause (human behavior).

7:28, you are so right. According to the link below “assault rifles” are used very rarely and a ban on them wouldn’t do much to stop the casualties.

WEAPONS USED IN MASS SHOOTINGS

Latest mass shooting!

“At least 12 people were shot and killed at country dance bar in Thousand Oaks, California, Wednesday night.
The identified gunman is dead. Fox News described the assailant as “a mysterious man in black clutching a semi-automatic pistol.” One of the first responders, local police Sgt. Ron Helus, is also listed amongst the dead.

The Borderline Bar & Grill was full of students who had come for “country night,” when shots rang out around 11:20 pm. Witnesses say the gunman, who was reportedly wearing a trenchcoat, did not say a word before he opened fire.”

No AR-15, just a semi-automatic pistol which may or may not be a military style weapon.

7:28 is exactly right when they wrote: “We need to stop focusing on effect (shootings) and go look at cause (human behavior).”

While the public was justified in shaming Murphy The Hill below ask a very good question relating to 7:28’s point about human behavior. Banning a specific weapon will not reduce the killings. The mad person will resort to another one or some other means.
Whom from either party is picking up where Murphy left off?

Every morning, I listen to 96.1 KISS because Mikey and Bob make me laugh. This morning, they broke the news, "It happened again." Listeners knew exactly what they meant without hearing any details. 9:56 AM, I know you keep writing in that banning weapons is not the answer. But how is this going to stop? It is painful for me to bring this up, but working with the mental health community is virtually impossible. Dealing with finding providers in your network, waiting for an appointment, and all the other hoops that people have to jump through, makes a difficult situation even more difficult. It is easy to say that it is a mental health issue, but it is not that simple.

So politicians can continue to say that banning assault weapons or whatever the hell you want to call them is not the answer, THEN WHAT IS? It isn't just a simple mental health issue. Robert Bowers' mother had no idea that her son was like that. He had purchased his AR-15 legally.

And you can't keep blaming Trump. We can keep pointing fingers, and like this morning, we will hear, "It happened again."
