From one of the Field Boys

Last week, I emailed the entire commission with the following:

Dave,I would like to see Matt Kluck have more than five minutes to discuss turf. The YSA presentation ran over thirty minutes, even though fifteen
minutes was allocated to the YSA on the June 25 agenda. I hope you do
the right thing and let the discussion resume after the commission
meeting. Elaine Gillen
I received no response. During the Citizens Comments portion of Monday's meeting, I spoke of backwater valves, flooding on Cedar Blvd, asked who sets the agenda, why the YSA proposal was removed from the municipal website, and I would like to see any presentations down the pike posted. It is in the podcast, the first five minutes of the meeting.

Last night, I sent this email to the entire commission:

Commissioners,
I just approved this comment from Dave Franklin (Lebo Fields): "I recently received a copy of a proposal being circulated by one of
our commissioners about a comprehensive Rec proposal. It covers every
major Rec asset from the tennis courts to the golf course to the pool
to the ice rink to new fields. It touches everything and at a
significant price. I fully support a large portion of this proposal,
but I'm worried that when she presents it you're all going to
Commisionet Fraasch her to move. Really?" My opinion of this Commission is now at an all time low. I am guessing
that Mr. Brumfield is the commissioner who is circulating a proposal.
Dave, are you responsible for keeping Jim Cannon's presentation off of
the municipal website? Elaine Gillen

This morning, I was greeted with this response from Dave Brumfield.

Ms. Gillen,
After having been at work all day, then coaching, attending a board meeting and finally getting home I saw this email.  It is readily apparent that you have no regard for facts when it comes to your blog, email and citizen's comments allegations.  In the last week you have accused me of preventing Mr. Cannon from getting his fair time.  But if you had asked me or Matt Kluck you would know that I had already agreed with Matt that if Mr. Cannon's presentation could fit in regular discussion we would otherwise it would be done after our regular meeting.   Since we had a full agenda from Gateway we were trying to squeeze it in but did not want to take away from Gateway's alotted time so we entered the presentation with 5 minutes as a place holder.
Next you accuse me of circulating Kelly's rec proposal to Dave Franklin.  I would have thought that in one of your conversations with Kelly you would have asked how long Kelly has been circulating her plan to key members of the public to drum up support.  The fact is I have not even had time to open the attachment with the proposal since Kelly sent it to me Monday night.
Then you think I am keeping Mr. Cannon's presentation off the website.  It was actually staff's opinion that it should be kept off.  When asked I told staff that as long as there were no copyright concerns, as some of Mr. Cannon's material was previously published, to put it up.
I would hope that this situation serves as a cautionary tale to keep you from using accusations and insults as your first line of inquiry.  I have replied only to you Kelly and Matt so that you can see I am not trying to embarrass you.  But so that you also know that I am serious about how easily you could have confirmed any of this.  I realize that this may be a somewhat terse email but at this time of night after all of this it is the best I could do.
Dave

First of all, I am not embarrassed by any of this.  It is public information, so I am sharing it with my readers as well as any commissioner who happens to read my blog. One reason why I am posting this is to show that Staff is running the store in Mt. Lebanon, not the commissioners. I would be embarrassed of that, Dave. Second, you never responded to my email about doing the right thing. As it turns out, you did the right thing and permitted the Matt Kluck turf information presentation to be given in the second part of the Discussion Session. By not responding to my email, I would be embarrassed, Dave. Third, I was respectful during my comments at Monday's meeting. Listen to the podcast. To say that I was using accusations and insults should be embarrassing for you, Dave. Fourth, your constant interruptions during Mr. Cannon's PowerPoint was embarrassing.  For you. It showed your true colors. And finally, to say that I have no regard for facts, is humorous, to say the least. I have promoted Lebo Fields, the blog by the other Field Boy, Dave Franklin, several times on my blog. I presented both forms of the YSA proposal and even had a poll which has not been removed to see what kind of support you had in the community with your plan. You can't say that I have kept anything from the public. I also discovered that to find the YSA proposal on the municipal website, one must use the muni website search widget using the keyword, "YSA."

As of 11:43 AM, the turf information presentation is still not on the municipal website, a website that is funded by you and me. My website and blog, funded by me, shows both sides. So who should be embarrassed, Dave?

Dave,
You performance as a commission is an embarrassment to you and to the community. No wonder we often hear how ML is being laughed at. It is bad enough that we need our fields updated but your single issue performance on fields and your interrogation of James Cannon that interrupted his presentation was an embarrassment to you. A judge would have cut you off immediately in court. Matt interceded to allow James Cannon the same courtesy you gave your Deadbeat Athletic Supporter buddies when they made a presentation. Shame on you Dave!

John Ewing

P. S. I've heard enough from lying cheapskate pickpocket deadbeats. Put up Mr. Cannon's presentation or get off the commission and take the California representation with you before they bankrupt the community. Or does the staff run the commission?
LOL

Oh, Dave, how many signs have the deadbeats sold?

There is a little comment in Brumfild's response that I find a little disconcerting, and before it gets blown out of proportions perhaps Dave or Kelly could clarify.

Dave wrote: "how long Kelly has been circulating her plan to key members of the public to drum up support."
I wouldn't find this so alarming if it weren't for the fact that mr. Franklin, obviously an opponent of any plan that doesn't include turf is apparently a key communicator.

By all means Kelly, should be consulting with friends, advisors and whom she considers key communicators. That's natural.

But considering recent history and knowing full well the tight relationships of some groups with our elected officials the use of the descriptor "key members of the community." BOSN comes to mind and the influence "key members of the community" tried to exert of the HS project.

Here's the quote from Mr. Brumfield: "how long Kelly has been circulating her plan to key members of the public to drum up support."

Is there an application form one fills out to become a "Key" member. Is there a long lost Playboy Club in Mt. Lebanon I don't know about? Perhaps some secretive Lodge or vestige of the Knights Templar!

2:00 PM, and the Kluck/Cannon presentation is a no show. As Lebo Fields explains, the commission came to them to make a presentation. YSA made the presentation and it went on the website the next morning. Matt Kluck wanted a presentation for real grass. Jim Cannon stepped up and put a spectacular presentation together, and it is still not on the website. What is wrong with this picture, Dave? Isn't Matt your VP?

Mr. B claims copyrights are a concern and one reason for the delay.
Now obviously, our commission president can get a YSA proposal cleared of copyright concerns much faster than he can calling Mr. Cannon III for a release.
Must be one of the benefits key holders posess. Instantaneous communication!
No there's no conflict of interest of preferential treatment.
Do you think having a key is like landing on Free Parking in Monopoly?

Looks like Dave is just his own show. Otherwise Matt would be on the Joint Steering Committee instead of Lackey Linfante.

Isn't it funny that over at Lebofields one his his 'anonymous' bloggers (didn't Dave criticize anonymous bloggers as chickens and unworthy participants in public debate) defines the 6 or 7 bloggers at that other blog as 'arrogant.'
Further warning him that your wasting your time as they are unyielding.!
But wait, on Lebocitizens there are a number of compromises and suggestions.
1. The YSA should turf the field
2. The muni should form a PPP
3. The YSA should come up with more money
4. Come up with better field care.
5. Cut back on some sports
6. The YSA should build their own complex
7. Keep the fields as they are.
What is Lebofields answer to all those arrogant suggestions, buy us our Turfed field!

PG (Chute) The board of Pittsburgh Public Schools tonight voted to furlough 280 school-based employees, including 176 K-12 teachers, 14 pre-K teachers, 59 paraprofessionals, 12 adjuncts, 10 other pre-K professionals and nine technical-clerical workers," noting that the employees are members of the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers. "The teacher furloughs are part of a plan aimed at saving $29.1 million over a school year through workforce reductions, school closings and reconfigurations, feeder pattern changes and larger class sizes."

Well glory be! Susan Morgans sent me this response at 3:29 PM today. She had copied Marcia Taylor who is filling in for Steve Feller this week.

"Both presentations have been up since 11:30. They are under Recreation Department; Projects and Improvements; Presentations Presented to the Commission."

Silly me. I was looking on the home page where the YSA presentation sat for a few weeks. You really have to look since it is buried. That was the whole email. I forwarded it to the commission since Susan left them out of the loop.

The Muni "comic book" and amateurish "puppeteer" have got to go !

A clarification from Susan Morgans:
"Elaine:

The Commission was not left out of the loop.  The acting manager notified them several hours ago that both presentations were up on the website, long before I answered your email.

Susan"
--
Marcia Taylor was copied. I responded with:
"I copied the commissioners on the last response, just as I am doing now. Thanks."

The problem with comparing us to Cranberry is they are in the inferior Seneca Valley School District. You know Lebo's cheer,"Hey! Hey!, That's OK! Your Gonna Work For Us Someday."

But at least we know where Mr. and Mrs. Lebo Fields have their priorities - get the kids out of the house and under someone else's supervision and the H+ll with academics as long as we are rid of the kids.

Seneca Valley Math Education,

The supermarket express lanes say 15 items only, then has a sign with three hands showing five fingers.

Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Lebo Fields.

Well I guess we have a right to feel intellectually superior to Seneca Valley.
See here's the type of math question and the remarkable solution they teach in the MTLSD.
3 parties join in a Joint Maintenance Agreement for 12 years.
Party M agrees to do all the maintenance but doesn't pay any money into the agreement.
Party YSA agrees to pay $30,000/year to Party SD who will then add $48,000/year and send the entire $68,000/year to Party M.
So class over 12 years how much did Party SD pay to Party M in total?
Of the total amount paid by Party SD to Party M how much did Party YSA contribute in total?
The correct Lebo answer - duh?
See how smart we are - everybody passes!

Still want to know how Franklin got s copyof Kelly's plan. Must be a really good story since he's acting like a coward.

Anon7:08....

Let's add a little finance training in...

If the YSA didn't pay the amount they committed to, what was the true cost of that money? The taxpayers paid the tab for the maintenance costs when they could have invested their money somewhere else and earned interest instead of paying the debt of the YSA. So, class, what is the answer? How many school board directors could come up with the right answer?? My guess is one - Scott Goldman.

9:51 you keep up that kind of nonsense and President Posti is going to figure you need a big raise.
Why does Remely even show up for board meetings? Why not just put a big sign on his chair that reads - ditto however she (Posti) voted.
