Independents can vote too!

I had a panic attack this morning. I was worried that I would only be able to see Dan Remely's name on my Republican ballot for the House seat.  No worries! There will be no D or R ballot for that race. Since it is a special election, there is only one ballot. Good news - not only can Democrats and Republicans vote for either Dan Miller or Dan Remely, but Independents can actually come to the polls and vote for the State House race. Typically they are not allowed to vote in primaries.

Keep that in mind and take a minute to cast your vote in the latest, unofficial poll here on  Lebo Citizens.

Additionally, someone sent me Dan Remely's campaign brochure.  I will wait until I hear from Mr. Remely before I post it. Dan, you know how to reach me.

For school board, no incumbent in this election will be getting my vote. I'll be writing in a couple pepole I believe would be good.

If they accept the position should they get enough votes, great! If they don't at least I'll know I didn't settle for the least of evils.

With 29 votes Dan can't even beat nobody (neither).

That should tell you and the R party something Mr. Remely.

When it gets down to the short strokes I'll bet the board will follow Upper Darby's lead and dump the financial crisis in the taxpayers lap.
They used the same Geary rhetoric like now the residents will see how hard it is.
Of course they'll conveniently forget that residents predicted long ago what would happen if they didn't rein in spending. That they were warned they would arrive at this point some day!

While the Upper Darby parents are right in trying to keep arts curriculum, whining to Harrisburg for mote money doesn't fix anything.
Does sending money from Lebo or Pittsburgh to Harrisburg to then be distributed to Upper Darby solve the financial shortfalls for the 100s of other districts with financial problems.

Here are several articles from the Commonwealth Foundation that make interesting reading.
http://www.commonwealthfoundation.org/policyblog/cf/fl/page.1/57/property-taxes

"The problem with property taxes isn't just in the nature of the tax, but in unbridled growth of education spending. Comprehensive reforms to reduce spending include expanded school choice, a Taxpayer Protection Act (limiting spending growth to population growth), mandate relief and reforming the student funding formula."

It'll be nice to hear Miller's and Remely's positions on property tax reform and education spending before we send one or the other to Harrisburg.
