Want to meet our new municipal manager? You can have coffee with Keith McGill on Monday morning at Uptown Coffee. You must buy your own coffee.

I had been to a coffee with the manager a few years ago. Steve Feller had provided coffee at one of the meeting rooms at the Rec Center. It was a nice event. Then it was discontinued.

I wonder if our manager will use a crosswalk when crossing Washington Road.

Jaywalking Ordinance Passed Unanimously UPDATED

The TV cameras were at the commission meeting tonight. Three people spoke against the jaywalking ordinance. It didn't matter. The commissioners' minds were made up. Fines up to $300 for anyone caught jaywalking. I guess we now have a walking tax.

Speaking of walking, Jody Jodi Joe D. spoke via telephone to the commissioners tonight concerning the "successful"archery program. Approximately 2% of the wounded deer got away. Kelly asked where they went and Jody said they just got away. Jody was proud of the fact that the number that got away was only 2%. Usually, it is around 5%. For future archery programs, Jody would like to see hunting over bait. There are some counties that permit that. He wants archers who aren't police officers to kill deer in our parks. Twin Hills should have been allowed. Mt. Lebanon is a private property owner of Twin Hills. They could have gotten lots of deer there. Jody wants White Buffalo killers (archery and guns) to be able to ask people for ID, who are walking through the public property during killing. If they don't have id, then the cops are called. They could be poachers or people interfering with a hunt.

Thanks to a tenacious Mt. Lebanon resident, here is the official Crash Breakdown 2013-2015  report from our police chief.

The report includes bicycle crashes, deer/car collisions, hit and runs, and pedestrians hit within and out of crosswalks. The number in parentheses is pedestrians hit within crosswalks. It appears that jaywalking is much safer in Mt. Lebanon.

Please see the attached document for the statistical information that you requested.  Please note that we do not separately account for "single vehicle collisions", however the most appropriate statistical category related to these types of collisions would be hit & run crashes as shown on the spreadsheet.

Your interpretation of the Pedestrian / Vehicle crash numbers is correct. These numbers should be interpreted as follows:

2013: 12 total, 5 of which were in crosswalks
2014: 11 total, 7 of which were in crosswalks
2015: 10 total, 7 of which were in crosswalks

2013 42% of the pedestrians hit by cars were hit in a crosswalk
2014 64% of the pedestrians hit by cars were hit in a crosswalk
2015 70% of the pedestrians hit by cars were hit in a crosswalk
