Holiday Parking Update

  • No Enforcement -> Thanksgiving Day, Friday, November 24th (Black Friday) and Saturday, November 25th (Small Business Saturday). This applies to on-street meter parking and all parking lots (i.e. Academy Lot, Alfred Lot, etc.). The garages in the Uptown District will charge regular rates for Friday, November 24th and $1 between 6am + 6pm on Saturday, the 25th;
  • Holiday Courtesy Ticket Program -> Parking Enforcement Officers will issue 'Courtesy Tickets' to drivers whose meter ran out of time. These Courtesy Tickets offer an additional hour to the driver. Dates for this program will run Monday, December 12th through Tuesday, January 2nd.

    Groundbreaking Ceremony is a bit premature. Again.

    When it comes to homework assignments, the School Board should get an "Incomplete." There is a parking ordinance in Mt. Lebanon which mandates 528 parking spaces must exist on site. The current parking plan violates that ordinance. The School District needs to apply for a variance with the Zoning Hearing Board once again. Come on School Board, when are you going to start doing your homework? Or is there another lawsuit on the horizon which we, the taxpayers, get to pay for both sides again?

    Update: Beginning this Wednesday, students will not be allowed to park on site.  Isn't that a bit premature, as well?  Do you have the blessings of the Municipality since you will be in noncompliance with the parking ordinance?

    UPMC Athletic Training and Physician Services Proposal

    As mentioned in the previous post, "Can you spell UPMC?" here is the "revised" proposal from UPMC.  UPMC Athletic Training and Physician Services Proposal

    Section A describes the services that UPMC would provide.  They will require designated parking.  Was that mentioned at the Zoning Hearing Board or the Planning Board?

    Section C discusses MTLSD's responsibilities.  Besides paying UPMC $154,000, MTLSD will agree to serve as a regional center for UPMC by providing auditorium, gymnasium, classroom or fields to UPMC so that they may have sports medicine and/or sports performance programs up to four times per contracted year.  By the way, UPMC will have the right to charge a participation fee to attendees of these programs.
    We also have to display four UPMC banners throughout the year at various MTLSD sports venues.
