"Relentless Pursuit" of Perfect Spelling

The woman who sent the following to me is a life long resident of Mt. Lebanon. She wondered how our school district could possibly provide the "Best education possible for each and every student" when the district produces informational flyers with spelling errors and the school board president signs her name to it.

Mrs. Posti,

I just finished reading the Budget Update.

Only 2 spelling errors on this one.

Funny part is, the first error is in the spelling of the name of the company* you people hired to do the study!  I wonder if "the check writer" will spell their name correctly when payment is made.  The second error is actually in the name of the school** where the School Board meetings take place!

Oh my, will you ever get this right?

I am just a mom and grand-mom yet I would never sign my name to any document unless I was sure it was perfect.

Just saying,

Concerned mom/grand-mom

Dr. Tim would tell you, "This is government work."

I could make a suggestion for those directors "relentlessly pursuing" ways to cut costs. Besides freezing Dr. Tim's and Ms. Jan's salaries, they could eliminate the PIO. But I won't because we know they will all be getting pay raises this summer.

Don't forget that JoPo has a degree in English...With a $113 million project in the balance, good thing she's such a stickler for detail.

And how do you think we will pay for government pay raises and pensions?

At the Federal level here is what will happen:

Unprecedented Tax Hike For 2013: Starting January 1, 2013, Americans will face a $494 billion tax increase, the highest ever in one year. Obamacare’s tax increase over 10 years barely edges ahead of Taxmageddon at $502 billion. The average American household would see its taxes rise by $3,800 in 2013 alone. And this is just for one year. Taxpayers would see even higher tax hikes in succeeding years.

Expiring Tax Cuts and Obamacare’s New Taxes: Almost 34% of the tax increases from Taxmageddon come from the expiration of the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts. Another 25% comes from the expiration of the payroll tax cut. Most of the remaining increases come from Obamacare, notably from the start of the hospital insurance 3.8% surtax on all forms of income over $250,000.

Taxmageddon Hits the Middle Class: Taxmageddon falls primarily on middle- and low-income Americans. That’s because 60 percent of the Bush tax cuts went to middle and low-income taxpayers. The expiration of the patch on the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) will cause these taxpayers to pay a tax they were never supposed to be hit with, and the expiration of the payroll tax cut is a tax hike almost exclusively on middle- and low-income families. That’s just the direct impact. Americans at all income levels will feel the pain of Taxmageddon because it will slow job creation and wage growth.

Thanks to the Heritage Foundation for this TAX DAY commentary

You clearly have hate in your heart. Maybe Posti tried to save money on ink by missing the letter?

Maybe they should hire a "Perfect.Spelling Facilitator" that would work side by side with the Strategic Plan Facilitator. Then we could institute even mote 4 day work weeks for the administrators.

Of course to offset this "mandated" additional staffer and fewer hours "by Governor Corbett" the board will need to raise the student parking permit fees to $100/month and add a surcharge of $10/passenger.

Sounds like a plan. To measure community support for the plan, the board has a survey question they'd like you to respond to.
Do you like the above plan?
_ YES I love it
_ YES I think it's a good plan
_ YES It sounds like a solution

I'm pretty sure the board will discover through their survey of residents, a majority of the respondents. "heard from" support the plan.

Giffen, don't forget that we will need to choose THREE (3) answers.

How about a feasibility study for spell check software?

Yes, I guess it is hate in my heart. I should give the woman a break. Look at how much ink was saved since 63 residences on my street never received the mailing. That sure makes it tough for feedback. I hope Posti is praying for that mom/grandma who has hate in her heart.

I see that the agenda link on the district site shows that it was revised on 4/13/12.
