Mt. Lebanon's Krista Harris will be replacing Councilman Vince Gastgeb for County Council. Allegheny County Council Republicans have selected Ms. Harris to represent Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park, Upper St. Clair, and Bridgeville until the special election which will be held in November. It is expected that Krista will go on to win the May primary and become the party's candidate to fill the remainder to Mr. Gastgeb's term, which runs through 2016.
Krista Harris made the news when Rich Fitzgerald and her husband, Mark had a verbal altercation after the November 2011 debate for county executive. Raja: Fitz behavior "erratic" When Krista shook Fitzgerald's hand and said, "I'm his wife," Fitzgerald, smiling, responded with: "I wouldn't be proud of that."
Republican candidates have until March 12 to submit their nomination petitions with 250 signatures for the May primary.

Of course I am not surprised by Rich's reaction to the introduction. Mark ran a very negative campaign trying to get Raja elected and that is the only type of campaign Mark knows how to run.

This is politics as usual and the people get stuck in the middle of the pi**ing match.
How sad. guess the Rs will never learn. Krista Harris has done...nothing. good luck. and those who celebrate the Rs on the county council are fools.
You could drop these people in a coffee can, shake it, tip it over and drop the first one out into the office.
Nothing will change, taxes will still go up and the Rs and Ds will blame and call each other names.
That's why it is exciting to see a Libaterrian running for Smith's House seat.
I am a fan of Mt. Lebanon resident Heather Heidelbaugh on the County Council. She has a sharp mind and tries as much as she can to keep everyone honest.
If Krista can simply lend her a hand in that department, it would be helpful. At the end of the day, the council is dominated by the D's who can push through whatever agenda they want.
But yes, as is the case in most political races, we have what I refer to as Shampoo Politics.
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
How does someone new have a chance?
I would suggest 12:42 the first thing 'we' could do is get out of the mindset that a candidate isn't a legitimate candidate unless they are a D or and R.
This George Brown looks very interesting to me. I'm going to pay very close attention to what his platform is. If he meets my expectations of a candidate he'll get my vote.
I've never voted straight ticket in any election, but almost always though sometimes reluctantly went with a main stream R or D.
Looking at the quagmire in DC, Harrisburg and locally there has to be some better people out there.
The Raja vs Fiztgerald race turned me off on both major parties locally. How we can continue to vote people into office chosen by parties that supposedly have principals is beyond me.
Kris Harris is going to have to convince me she doesn't have the same ethics as her husband.
