Timmy Ticket Trickery in its infancy

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "There's something about Mary UPDATED 2X":

It is still obvious to me that there is a " conflict of loyalty with Berks and Outreach. Who is to say that she's not IDing kids in the district with disabilities which gets sent to the to MLSB which likes to get rid of kids with disabilities including physical, and mental health disabilities. It has happened in the past. All students have a right to a free and appropriate public education. Too much corruption in regards to the disabled kids. This is why Sabol was let go. She found out and had it been investigated, then the school district would have been bankrupt.

Funny how one submitted comment leads to exactly what I was looking for. I did a blog search for "Sable" and found this post, which I believe marks the beginning of the Cappucci, Birks, and Remely shenanigans with Timmy. OMG  They want to keep him through June 30, 2019 The contract extension was added to the agenda and was not even suggested at the previous meeting! I went back to the school board meeting summaries, to find out which school board members voted to extend Timmy's contract and found this. http://www.mtlsd.org/uploaded/SchoolBoard/Board_Summaries/September_16,_2013_Board_Meeting_Summary.pdf  (Note who was absent.) Did you read Cappucci's Board President Report? I'm sure it was purely a coincidence, but young Cappucci had just entered the job market. Did you notice Alyssa DeLuca's name? We know how that was a disaster!

Please, Mt. Lebanon, do not vote for Elaine Cappucci, Mary Birks, or Dan Remely. Too many conflicts, coincidences, untruths, false promises, and a complete lack of transparency.

DeLuca resigns

The Capital Campaign Director for Mt. Lebanon School District resigned recently. In my August 13, 2013 post Lebo Appoints Capital Campaign Director, Alyssa DeLuca's starting salary was $82,500 plus benefits.

According to Monday's school board meeting agendathe school board will be approving Margaret M. Schmidt's contract. "This is an extension to the agreement with Margaret M. Schmidt to provide consulting services for the capital campaign at a rate of $62.50 per hour, not to exceed $2,000 per month, up to a maximum of 32 hours per month."

Pursuant Ketchum Going...Going...

Looks like Pursuant Ketchum is on their way out, according to the article in the Trib, Vote set on hiring of new advisor for Mt. Lebanon School District Alyssa DeLuca, who just returned from family leave, will continue to lead the fundraising campaign at $82,500 per year. Maggie Schmidt will replace Pursuant Ketchum and will be advising Alyssa DeLuca at a rate of $62.50 per hour for as many as 32 hours per month.
Schmidt would replace staff from consulting firm Pursuant Ketchum, which has been advising Mt. Lebanon on the campaign since March 2013. Pursuant Ketchum recommended Schmidt to the district, and she will replace consultants who had been traveling about once a month from Pursuant's Boston offices at Mt. Lebanon's expense, said Superintendent Tim Steinhauer.
Also from the Trib article:
The board also discussed hiring former employee Stephen Schuerer as a human resources consultant, also at a rate of $62.50 per hour, to work with the district on a new contract for its teachers. The current contract runs through June 30.
If Steve Schuerer is not currently working for the district, who is the director of human resources? He is currently listed as the Title IX compliance investigator on the MTSLD calendar and in other places. Every school that receives federal money is supposed to have one. Is Steve Schuerer an attorney? If not, why is he being hired to work with the district on a new teachers' contract? Nice that he can double dip.

Speaking of teachers and administrators, we can find out how much administrators and teachers earned in 2012-13 here: Pa. posts school administrator, teacher salaries to website The salary information is difficult to find. To view individual teacher salarieschoose Allegheny County, then Mt. Lebanon School District. View district information. In the top right of the next page, view fiscal information. Scroll down on the right, and go to School Personnel Salary Date. It's a downloadable spreadsheet.

Mt. Lebanon School District Teams Up With Pittsburgh Foundation

First, we had the Feasibility Study with Pursuant Ketchum for the $30 million $15 million $6 million fundraising campaign.

Next, PK was hired as counsel for the $6 million capital and endowment campaign. (March 2013)

The School District Hired DeLuca as Capital Campaign Director and Executive Director of the Mt. Lebanon Foundation for Education (MLFE) with a $82,000 a year salary. (August 2013)
The Mt. Lebanon School Board unanimously approved Alyssa DeLuca as the Director of the Mt. Lebanon School District Capital Campaign and Executive Director of the Mt. Lebanon Foundation for Education (MLFE). Ms. DeLuca will work with the Superintendent, MLFE Board Chair and campaign leadership to raise $6 million in capital and endowment funds. She will serve as the primary staff support for a volunteer campaign committee and the MLFE Board in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual donors. Ms. DeLuca will lead campaign logistics and prospect management activities while establishing a long term development program for the District. She is expected to join the District on August 30.
In addition, MTLSD has been buying fundraising software on more than one occasion. I would love to know how much has been spent so far toward fundraising efforts. If a reader could do that research for me, I would appreciate it.

The Trib's Matt Santoni has an article in today's paper announcing that the Mt. Lebanon School District is teaming up with the Pittsburgh Foundation. I am trying to get a link to his article and will share it here as soon as I can. Mt. Lebanon, Pittsburgh Foundation team

Last I heard, we were in the "Quiet Phase," the longest quiet phase in the history of fundraising. In the article, I understand that our super Super Timmy would not disclose how much has been raised so far.

School Board meeting update

I have not had time to listen to the podcasts which I uploaded on www.lebocitizens.com, but I did get a quick recap of the meeting.

Construction update included a visit from Tom Celli. Scott Goldman questioned Tom Berkabile about the contingency fund and how it seems like we will run out of money.

During the school board meeting, Ms. Deluca requested that we spend $30,000 and hire a firm to reduce the large list of alumni (2,500?) to the top 100 contacts. Wasn't PK supposed to do that with the feasibility study? I would be willing to do that for $25,000.  In listening to the meeting, at 23:20 Timmy requests to hire Richard A Kettle (sp?), a "freelance prospect research professional," at $30/hour not to exceed $6,000.

A resident asked why the railing in the pool spectator area has not been fixed. I believe that was reported last October. He never got a response from the school board.

What does a MTLSD Capital Campaign Director make?

A Right To Know request was filed for the employment contract for the new Capital Campaign Director position.

Ms. DeLuca did not enter into or execute an employment contract. However, she did sign an offer letter dated July 23, 2013. Enclosed please find a copy of that letter. For the reasons set forth above, her home address has been redacted.

It is a sweet deal. No wonder we are where we are financially.

A second Right To Know request for her employment record, reveals no work experience with PA Cyber. Different person with the same name.

Update August 18, 2013 7:45 PM A Lebo Citizens reader submitted the following article, Stocks can't fix Pittsburgh's pension system fiscal woes, experts warn With Larry Lebowitz inquiring when they can borrow again, the board needs to keep this article in mind. Change it from the city to Mt Lebanon and the story could be the same.
