A blog reader took the June 8, 2009 School Board Meeting podcast that I posted in a previous thread and cropped out the portion of John Allison's 9:42 minute address to the School Board and community. (Thanks goes out to the person who sent this to me.)
I do hope the current School Board takes 9:42 minutes out of their holiday weekend and listens to Mr. Allison's words. Here is the link. John Allison's Address.
Actually, it is my hope that everyone who reads this blog, takes the time to listen to this. If the School Board listened almost two years ago, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.

And that was the meeting where it is recorded that the SB added the 2 additional lanes to the pool and the third gym because these additions would take them up to but not exceed what they had been told would be the debt limit.....the entire SB and new Super. later claimed the budget for the project was not and never had been the debt limit!
Short term memory loss is often a symptom of a serious brain disease....seems extant among 'em.

John Allison may not have had a doctorate degree, but he had the ability to see that this was going to be a runaway train.
Looking back, I'm sorry that he left us. At least he had a spine and told the board the truth which most of them had no interest in hearing. Now look where we are.

The difference is this: Allison, having resigned, could speak frankly; Steinhauer, still being employed by the school board, cannot.
I see your point, Tom, but I'd rather have the honest truth told to me. I seriously doubt that the board would fire him only months after extending his contract.
Sometimes the truth hurts, but it needs to be said, especially if it prevents an awkward situation later.

That being said, he is the leading public *cheerleader* and defender of this train wreck....does this not bring into question credibility and integrity ?

Sorry Tom, Dr. Steinhauer is not employed by the school district.
He is EMPLOYED by the people that make funds available for his paycheck-- the taxpayers of Mt. Lebanon.
