Found this definition of deduct online: de·duct (d-dkt) v. de·duct·ed, de·duct·ing, de·ducts v.tr. 1. To take away (a quantity) from another; subtract. 2. To derive by deduction; deduce. v.intr. To take away a desirable part: Poor plumbing deducts from the value of the house.
So just the description "deduct alternates" doesn't sit well, but suppose there is no alternative other than to give the board some more rope and help if they ask.
I disagree with the example, Dick Saunders. In this case, deducting the Super's private bathroom, as Bill Matthews suggested at the SB meeting, would be a good idea. :)
I thought that was a bit of whimsy between Bill and the Super. Stand by the analogy in that if they go to cheap materials we'll be replacing components in 4-5 years. I side with what I believe I heard Rothchild/CAC recommending. Dick Saunders
Someone please explain how the Super's private bathroom is necessary to meet programatic needs of and provide a 21st. century education for the children ?
There is no private Super's bathroom in the current admin area....maybe that helped the design team define a 20th. century outmoded condition that justified the private *enhancement* ?
Most SB members were not even aware of the *enhancement*.
