A former Mt. Lebanon resident sent me this link from the Chartiers Valley Patch.

Thought it was interesting that a 12 year old has a plan and proposal to have lights installed on a local field with no cost to taxpayers, while the Lebo YSA, full of adults, can't get a plan together, and expects taxpayers to pay for everything.
I attended the meeting, she will apply for a grant through Duquesne Light.
You should see the field she wants to light. In the last 3 years the STAA (Scott Township AA) has taken it from a beat up field with only wooden benches and totally transformed it.
Dugouts, scoreboard, regraded it, bathrooms, etc. All at very little cost, if any to the taxpayers. Lots of fundraisers, donations and blood, sweat and tears. A group of dads worked 10-12 hours a week for a year to complete it.
The Patch article includes pictures of the field. There is resistance from local residents over the lighting.

Notice the lack of signs.
I just got this response in an email.
Just saw the post and comment. Actually there are signs. Not a lot, but there are banner type advertising signs.

The first comment below the article is what I would expect from most of the posters on this site.

Great, just what we need, more lights glaring into our houses at all hours of the night.
To Anonymous 3:37 pm
Many of these people already have to look at the lights from nearby Scott Park that are often left on till midnight or later.
I'd say that's a bit late for a pick-up game, wouldn't you?
Also, the township building, which has nighttime lights, too, is next to the field.
Things sometimes look better in print than they really are.
Nosy Neighbor
Lets put stadium lights next to 3:37's house. Bet they're part of the NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) crowd.
I wonder, does 3:37 live in Virginia Manor by chance.
Seems they don't like there little piece of paradise disturbed.
From the Pgh PG July 17, 2002:
"Efforts to put a share-the-road bike trail in Virginia Manor, a Mt. Lebanon neighborhood, have attracted vehement opposition from the people who live there."
Damn, you let those crazy bicyclist in and there goes the whole neighborhood. Next they'll want us to pay in taxes what our homes are worth on the open market.
