Can't even title this due to my recent development of Tourette's

I am trying very hard not to interject any profanity for this post. My RTK was just granted.  Here is a copy of the email.

Gee, I wonder where Dr. S got his information regarding 2008's payment?

Must be some sooper secret stash, eh Tom M!

Notice to all students planning to drive to school next year.

First, sign up and get your permit. #2. Forget to or only make a partial payment. (the way the district keeps books, they'll never know if you paid it or not!)
#3. Who says you need a permit to park in the church or municipal lots like Dixon or the Commissioners lot.
You are a resident of Mt. Lebanon and can park in any muni lot you wish. If there are no meters or toll booths tell the SD to pound salt.
At the church, join the congregation for a year.
Furthermore, I wonder if the policy of making only students pay for parking falls under age discrimination laws regarding public property.
Why should kids have to pay and adults don't?

They are almost $150,000 in arrears. How many fields should we turf for them now? Keep up the good work Daves. You are an embarrassment to the town.

This district spins larger webs than a golden-orb spider.

Consider the approval for the HS change order. Did someone forget that when they wanted to put the 2005 natatorium project where the new pool is being located the soil samples indicated then the site wasn't conducive for a pool?
So, to justify the new HS renovation the board paid for a new soil sample with Celli overseeing it. Something like $20,000.
And now we're hit with a <$200,000 change order for new infill on the site.
Let Celli, or PJDick foot the bill!
I'm not a sheep.

The district and municipality need to take a course in remedial math.
The alarm bells are red and ringing here, folks! A thorough audit by a different auditor must be done.

Don't worry 1:17, Matt Smith (D) is working to make sure local government the school district is working for you!
He'll probably vote for the PA Dept. of Education to send more money to the MTLSD so they can cover the YSA portion of the JMA.

Just thought of something.
The YSA is a non-profit organization correct?
So is UPMC. If Jan baby can get a handle on the little old $30,000 YSA payments, how is she going to manage all the cash in the agreements with UPMC?

Elaine,

Please send the YSA deadbeat/freeloader payment history to the entire Commission, Manager, Asst. Mgr./Finance Director and Solicitor...they should be on record as having also received this information.

Thank you for seeking and posting this information. Isn't it just disgraceful how special interests get away with misdeeds, aided & abetted by some public officials !

Interesting on age discrimination for parking fees. Seems the school age parkers are being discriminated against I'd think.
In November 1975 Congress enacted the Age Discrimination Act (42 U.S.C. 6101 et seq.) as part of the amendments to the Older Americans Act (Pub. L. 94-135). The Act prohibits discrimination on the basis of age in all programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance.

Bill, I forwarded the RTK of the YSA payments to the commission, manager, assistant manager, and solicitor. I also included the podcast of Dr. Steinhauer and Jan Klein lying to us. I have not received a response. Maybe they fainted.

Am I the only one that thinks a donation of almost $308,000 is a wonderful gift? We should be thanking the YSA not complaining because they did not give more. Do not look a gift horse in the mouth.

4:47 are you out of your ever loving, freakin' mind. A gift? Seriously you can't possibly be that freakin' stupid?

The YSA didn't donate anything. They use muni and SD facilitiesto run their sports programs. Same as The Youth Dance Organization would pay to use the HS auditorium for a show or the Carnegie Library to run a speaker series or Travel series.
They joined in a Joint Maintenance Agreement to keep fields in good condition. They didn't DONATE anything. They run athletic activities such as Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse, Soccer etc.
The high use they claim is having a detrimental affect on the grass and why they are demanding $1,000,000 artificial turfing. They charge parents a fee to have their kids participate in those activities. Part of the fee is suppose to go to facility maintenance. How you figure the USA is donating anything is beyond comprehension.
The fee to maintain the fields and give the YSA access is $30,000 a year.
If as you say the USA is donating to a piddling amount towards field maintenace kick 'em the hell off.

The issue, as one poster has put it, is not how "wonderful" the YSA "gifts" are; the issue is how screwed up the accounting of those "gifts" is at the District level, and within the YSA organization itself. The issue is that so many "stories" have been told about YSA contributions and when they were made that trying to untangle this mess is a little like trying to unwind the middle of a golf ball. In short, the issue is credibility.

Al Capone was well liked by a lot of Chicago folks because he gave money to the poor and helped people get jobs. He was still a criminal and went to jail; not because he killed people, but for tax evasion.

The moral of the story is simple: Be careful what you swear to on a Federal form!

Hey 4:47 since you don't know much about horses, gift horses or otherwise here's something you should know about dealing with them.
Checking Your Horse’s Mouth And Teeth
By Heather Toms on April 15, 2011 in Horse Training Techniques

retweetItching to teach your mare some dressage essentials? Don’t take things too fast too quick—don’t forget to do some basic horse care and health maintenance—like checking her mouth. Are you using a hackamore because your mare won’t allow you to touch her mouth? Is she sick and it’s time for her gums to get a capillary refill? Did she injure her gums and now you need to treat her wounds? Though no one would wish your horses ill, there will come a time that you will need to check her mouth.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT LESSONS 4:47!
Don’t wait for an emergency to happen before you start training her to be comfortable when you are touching her mouth. Before actual equestrian training, essential horse care and grooming practices and routine should be established.

Essentially care should be established early... say like checking the books for instances.
Reviewing agreements, etc.,m to keep your horse healthy!

Dr. Steinhauer has claimed that the JMA has worked well and that the YSA is all paid up. Aren't you just thrilled that he is in charge of an $80 million operating budget and the steward of a $110 million high school renovation project ? It kind of gives you a bad case of indigestion !

Anonymous said...

Franklin, Blumfield and friends CLAIM our fields are deplorable. That maintenance is atrocious.
According to the school district's answer to Elaine's RTK the YSA is delinquent in payments to the JMA by about $150,000.
Dr. Steinhauer, you're supposedly an educated man could you please tell us what would have to happen for the JMA to be considered not working well... For you?

Lebo Citizens said...

You will probably have to file a RTK to get an answer.

I just filed another RTK. I guess I should just print out a stack of blank ones.

Which Administrator made a liar of the Superintendent. Whoever did this should receive a job rating of DME "Doesn't Meet Expectations."

Freezing a salary should send a strong message to Staff about honesty.

Anonymous said...

Elaine filing a RTK is an exercise in futility.
The obvious response will be- the information you requested does not exist.
There is no way Dr. S is going to view anything regarding the YSA and JMA as not working well.
Do you really think he's going to screw up his chances for an additional week of paid vacation and hefty raise in next year's contract negotiation.

Lebo Citizens said...

I was being facetious.

I was too.
The only person that didn't meet expectations is the head guy that is suppose to run the district in a fiscally responsible manner.
There is no YSA payment shown for 2011.
Wouldn't you think one of the first budget savings ideas to implement before cutting staff and charging students for parking, would be to quit covering the YSA shortages in the JMA?
No Dr. S is going to claim the agreement is working well.
That is DME. Or at least dim!

Chuck Bachorski said...

The easiest way to stop all of the madness is simple. Just reconcile the cancelled YSA checks with the annual invoices. If it agrees, then the problem is over. If there is a shortfall, the YSA needs to write a check for the difference. The problem is getting the documentation from both parties. The funds should be available, as the fees are collected at time of registration.

Marge Sable said there's going to be a huge mess to clean up when Jan Klein retires. Maybe the mess needs attention now.
