Assistant Manager to retire

Marcia Taylor, assistant manager of Mt. Lebanon, announced her retirement after 34 years with Mt. Lebanon. She will be retiring on July 1, 2013.

Best of luck, Marcia. You will be greatly missed.

Hopefully on the school district side...

My only comment is this.

It seems that both Marcia and Jan are good at their jobs. But I never get the sense that there is much recommendation going towards the commission and school board. They more react. This is likely due to the political nature of both bodies, but I think it doesn't give either authority the knowledge they need to make sound financial decisions. Essentially it leaves these two bodies to figure out things on their own and then for the finance manager to implement them.

Yes, it is a way to job security. But it may not be the best for the town. I wonder if there is a better set up than this. One without a self-serving/job-preservation bent.
