Is it too much to ask? UPDATED

I have been trying to get the 2013-14 Final Budget posted on the MTLSD website. The Budget that I have been asking for is the detailed budget that is generally around 200 pages - at 25 cents a page, somewhat out of my price range to pay for a printed copy.  Please read the exchange below.

Jan,

I know the budget is ready and she could pick one up, but she is looking for it to be posted on the website.

Good morning Mrs. Szalinski,
Back in June, I had filed a RTK for the Final Budget. I was looking for the complete budget, as posted here.
http://www.mtlsd.org/district/finance.asp You had told me that the state gave you until August to make it available. I see that in July 2011, the 2011-2012 Budget was posted. As of now, nothing has been posted on the MTLSD website. When will it become available to the public?
Thank you.
Elaine

I have not received neither a follow up email from the School District nor a link to the document online.

September 5, 2013 4:23 PM I heard back from Jan Klein.

Mrs. Gillen,

The report is now complete. The person who posts it to the website anticipates she will complete that function by the end of next week.
Respectfully,

Jan

These cost $5.00 per copy in the past. Before that they were free.

Why must an owner pay to review the financial records of a school district they own.

These administrators need a lesson that they work for use not vice versa.

Seattle Washington teachers signed a two-year contract and will receive a 2% raise this year and a 2.5% raise for 2014-15. The Seattle Times reports "the pay increases are the biggest that teachers have received in five years."

Compare these raises to the 4.54% and the 4.59% raises the Mt. Lebanon teachers get in the next two years. Double the percentage pay increase in a better school district. I wonder how many grievances Seattle has?

When is Willie coming here to check out the books?

The budget is probably listed in the "stuff" folder of the MTLSD website but the district does not allow the contents to be listed. Obviously, Pooch wants to control the distribution of public information.

I'm surprised she sent it to Elaine instead of Jeanine.

Posted this in the earlier discussion on the first day of school& tweets as an FYI for Dr. Steinhauer.

I think Goldner's advice is applicable to the board as well and just not limited to their social media.
Have empathy with your [constituents], ehgage with them, listen to them.
Its their brand, not yours or Dr. Steinhauers!

"The Definitive Do's and Don'ts of Social Media Marketing"

Do: Listen to-And Engage With-Your Audience

"Steve Goldner, a digital and social marketing executive consultant, feels it's important to "[k]now your target audience well and have deep empathy for them." He adds, "Listen to them on social channels-not just your own. Engage with them where the conversation is happening. Understand the type of information they value, as opposed to what you want to push. Be a valued source for your target audience.""

No accountability - absolutely no accountability, zero none - nothing! Nobody is held responsible for anything. No service standard. No pride in their work.

Nothing ever changes. Lazy, worthless, inept "don't give a shit!" attitude from the classroom percolates into administration!

Union pride - - - phew!

ddDon't they have scanners? The school dristrict telling us we have difficulty getting documents out to public is silly. Just ask a kid in the district how easy it is to skip school. They can't, it's on dashboard.

10:22 PM " Lazy, worthless, inept "don't give a shit!" attitude from the classroom " is most frequently the attitude that comes from students, not teachers. Especially at the middle and high school level. It has nothing to do with "union pride".

11:32 did you seriously just blame kids for the union mentality? How do you make it through every day being that dumb? Using your "logic", kids are responsible for the school district refusing to do anything beyond the bare minimum. So maybe we should get rid of the kids, since they're such a bad influence, and bus them all to another district. Who cares that we're paying so much in school tax. Any problems are because of the kids.

Please tell me you're a teacher. Please.

The kids are not mature yet. The teachers union is stiff-necked. Look for the meaning of stiff-necked in your Bible.

"Lazy, worthless, inept "don't give a shit!" attitude from the classroom"

What a crock of hooey...this had NOTHING to do with teachers. This post was about administration workers being rude and inept. I don't know if you had a bad experience in your educational past...but back off of teachers. That is one of the most condescending comments I have ever seen on this site...some of it's posters are going from "Informed Concerned Citizens" to Teacher hunting, hate spewing lunatics

1:17 how can you complain when all the union teachers are rated S ? Nobody knows your real worth.
