No surprise here. Grella is an inexperienced, not-ready-for-primetime kid who wants to play grown-up commissioner. From what I understand, his Republican opponent, Bob Fisher, is a mature, community-minded, experienced guy AND a volunteer firefighter.

Hmmm. Grella or Fisher? You make the call.

Will the person who called me twice today, please call me back. Thanks.

Apparently, Grella was endorsed by the Mt. Lebanon Democratic Committee. And you wonder why nobody takes that committee seriously.

This is rather pathetic news. Mt. Lebanon Democratic committeeman charged with stealing from Republican U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy’s Pittsburgh office

Just knowing that Cox is still a local Dem leader says it all. I don't care about Murphy's affair. I do care that one of the two major parties is flush with lunatics in their ranks, from local losers like Cox to the federal level, where a losing candidate is on a book tour to promote her inability to accept defeat.

As a long time former paper girl for the Pgh Press, I can say that tracking down missing papers is a thankless job. But this papergirl never had to rely on the police or security cameras. Shame on Tim Murphy for his affair, too. Now we all know where he was. -Mary E

Yeah, the Murphy thing is cheesy, but when will we read about Grella's transgressions in the local papers?

Didn't several local democrats take great joy in a republican school board member did nothing more than walk home while intoxicated from a celebration.

Murphy's problem while unsavory affected only the private parties involved.
It has no effect on his constituents except to alert them to a possible character flaws which if we apply those standards to almost every politician we'd have to vote most of them out of office for one indiscretion or another.

And you have to love the explanation. "I took the papers because, you know, he wasn't using them." By that standard, I guess Cox seems to think he can hang out on my back deck since I don't use it much.
Ah, the Lebo Dems. Nothing but class. The Goldman thing, the dirty school board, the dirty commissioners who flat out ignore residents, the local committee that thinks nothing of launching personal attacks and ensuring the community keeps getting the bottom of the barrel as elected officers. Same party that still can't figure out why Trump won. Sheesh.
Too bad most Lebo Rs are so scared of being viciously attacked that they won't run for office. Lebo could be a really pleasant place to live if the politics would change.

I'm behind in my current events, it seems. I will have to catch up on the Goldman thing because I don't know anything about it.

I do not see myself as the morals cop, so what Murphy does in his private life is his business. Grella, however, is running for Mt. Lebanon Commissioner and running from the cops at the same time. Not good.

BTW, I am a Democrat and I know why Trump won. Also, the local democratic committee is full of #$%^*.

Chris Cox? Never heard of him on dem committee.

Anonymous said...

Okay, found him. Chris Cox is a member of the Mt. Lebanon Democratic Committee from Ward 5 (Kelly's ward).

I don't see what the big deal is with Tim Murphy. He "did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."

Elaine, don't you understand, there's a double standard.
If you're a democrat named Clinton (or Kennedy) you can have lots of adulterous affairs, especially in the Oval Office, lie about it and still be loved by the party faithful.
Be a republican, have an affair, come clean about it and you'll always be a jerk.

It would be great to get back on-topic with comments about Craig Grella's arrest for public intoxication last weekend and if and how that will impact his candidacy for ward 4 commissioner. The election is less than two months from now. IMO, Grella should step out of the race because of his indiscretions in public while running for office in Mt. Lebanon. If you Repubs are looking for an opportunity to improve your chances of winning that election, now is the time to capitalize on the Grella incident. Dems, too.

Absolutely agree 9:32.
If the republican candidates are seriously in their races to win they should be aggressively building support right now while the issues like the wasteful Capital Campaign and Grella flaw are in front of the public.

If we've learned anything over the last couple of election cycles it's that nice guys (and girls) finish last in Lebo!

It's not fair to lambaste the entire Mt. Lebo Dem Committee for "endorsing" Craig Grella for 4th District Commissioner. He ran unopposed (that's a whole other story that needs to be told as other potential candidates were supposedly dissuaded from running; so some agents cleared the field for him and you have to ask if there was a "quid pro quo"). They didn't have a choice. Anyway, we all know Craig's "cheerleaders" on that committee. Certainly, not everyone on the Committee supports (or supported) Grella's flawed candidacy. Many people see Grella for what he is – uninformed on local issues and opportunistic to the extreme. Those folks need to take back control of the Committee before it loses more credibility with the people.

5:28,

Yes, you are correct. But there are only a few diehard Dems on that committee. The rest are schmoes----like Grella and Silverman and the guy who steals newspapers. That is just embarrassing.
