Please clue me in. With all of the need in the Pgh area, why would the Pgh Foundation donate this much to Mt Lebo schools when our schools are much better off than other area schools? Though I have kids in the schools, this is disturbing to me.

Are donations to the school tax deductible? Because the district runs the Campaign for Excellence. It is not a licensed non-profit.

The Pittsburgh Foundation doesn't donate to MLFE and Century Campaign. People donate to these non-profits, and the funds go to them. Pittsburgh Foundation is just the middleman.

Why does someone need a middleman for that?

No, the Pittsburgh Foundation acts like a quasi-money launderer. Any fans of Goodfellas? There is a scene where Henry is narrating, describing in detail how they would steal products, pass them through the backdoor of a restaurant, and they would go right back out the front door to be resold. That scene comes to mind with this topic.
People donat to the foundation. A little here, a little there. Later, the Foundation doles out money to "worthy" benefactors. It's a sham. And I'm suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure none of the people who donate ever ever ever ask for favors.
