No agendas posted for Monday UPDATED Published! Secret topics, as well as parking restrictions on 5 streets

I emailed the commissioners this morning, asking about the agendas for Monday's meetings. No agendas have been posted for Monday's Discussion Session OR the commission meeting. (No LeboALERT had been sent out.)

I also asked when we were going to get the results from the archery hunt. We usually get them at the February meetings.

No response.

Update February 24, 2018 8:57 PM I heard back from Steve Silverman.

Elaine,
I understand the agendas have been posted for Monday's meetings. Also, the Deer Management report for the archery program has been forwarded to IT to be posted on the Mt Lebanon website.

Commissioners,

1. When will the agendas be posted for Monday's meetings?
2. When will we be getting the numbers from the archery hunt?

2/26/18 Commission Discussion Session agenda
More discussion on overnight parking. I have never seen this before: Thirty five minutes are set aside for
#4. 7:15 p.m. Extended discussion session(s)
Consideration of topics for extended discussion session(s)
Commission will discuss and suggest possible topics for an extended discussion session(s)

What the heck does that mean? They won't even list what the topics will be? They are allowing 35 minutes for this! No transparency!

2/26/18 Commission meeting agenda

Parking restrictions on Main Entrance Drive, Circle Drive, Outlook Drive, Lebanon Hills Drive, and Inglewood Drive.

Why does everything need to be a freaking conspiracy for you?? Perhaps #4 is exactly what it says it is - commissioners will SUGGEST and DISCUSS topics that they would like to an extended discussion. Isn’t that the same as new business? Why not show up and hear what they have to suggest and discuss rather than suggest that something is being hidden. And what can they hide? Discussions are televised for people like you who won’t go and no votes are taken. Please tell me what’s so threatening to you about an open agenda item on a discussion session agenda???

Pro-Tip: GFSZA + The Goddard School + MTLPW = <1000 ft.

12:38 PM, I have pointed this out before, but the GFSZA is only for K-12. Preschools and daycares don't count.

I have a feeling that if they were truly transparent, any future items for discussion would be listed under "Tentative list of follow-up items for future meeting(s)" Do we really need 35 minutes for an unknown topic? Or is it something controversial and they don't want to draw any attention to it?

I have NEVER heard of this before, 9:52 PM. I am willing to bet that I have been to more commission meetings than you ever will, 9:52 PM.

This is such a political and taxpayer boondoggle right under everyone's nose and nothing is said or done about it. This is Mt. Lebanon's Archery Program, that they pay DeNicola (White Buffalo) to organize and manage, but they don't know anything about it. They don't even know where it's at or what's going on. They know nothing. How can this be? They intentionally don't want to know how many deer have been killed in their archery program (critical info to evaluate if they even need another "sharpshooting" killing program) before they voted to payoff DeNicola another $77,000+ dollars for the "sharpshooting" deer killing program. And they don't want the public to know this archery kill number before they voted payoff DeNicola. How can the commission make informed taxpayer spending decisions without demanding the info to make these decisions and sharing this info transparently with the taxpayers?

This commission has effectively turned Mt. Lebanon into a private hunting preserve and shooting gallery, i.e. a bloody killing field, so that a handful of elitists who refuse to plant deer resistant flowers or implement any deer proofing methods, so that they can plant tulips and show off their homes and gardens in the annual library garden tour. These are the same elitists that refused a non-lethal deer population management program that would have been likely fully funded, and not cost the taxpayers anything. No, these lovely ladies wanted the deer families, i.e. the doe and her fawns, and pregnant does slaughtered. They demanded blood. When given an option, their preference was for animal cruelty. These are the same small group of elitist ladies that sit on non-profit charitable boards and who are patrons of the arts to enhance their social status, and who receive outstanding Mt. Lebanon women awards. Rod Serling, Twilight Zone, could have written an excellent episode about Mt. Lebanon and these award winning ladies. BTW, his daughter and author, Anne Serling, was very active trying to stop the deer slaughter and animal cruelty in her community, and said that her dad would have been at her side in that effort.

I totally agree with you, 1:49 AM. I wonder if the topic of deer killing in our neighborhoods will be discussed during the school safety meeting in March? We still don't know which private properties have active hunters in the not-too-late hours (maybe Elaine can let us know again about the hours in which the killing takes place with rifles right in private properties throughout Mt. Lebanon). If I had school-aged children who walk through the community, take short-cuts, etc. I'd be worried!

I would be happy to, 8:09 PM. This is what is listed under the FAQ's on mtlebanon.org .
The special use deer control political subdivision permit allows culling activities to take place seven days a week. Shooting takes place in the late afternoon and after dark.

How vague can they be? What is late afternoon and after dark?

The hours are 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, seven days a week on those secret private properties. On public properties, the hours are 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM Monday-Friday.

You will NOT see those hours under FAQs. I have had fights with the PIO every frickin' year about that. Maybe they don't want to put in writing so that Tony can start and stop any time he wants. I am waiting to hear that it is too warm for the deer to be attracted to bait. So it is quite possible that they kill ten deer and get paid $7,711 per deer. That is what our brilliant commissioners agreed to.

Thank you for letting us know the hours in which the killing occurs, Elaine. Scary! 4:00 PM is right after school, and who knows where the private properties are?

Loads of folks have drones these days so I’m sure someone could figure out where all the hunting is but beware the hunters have collapsible stands these days

-Mary E, still alive despite walking the trails of Lebo during Deer culls

Mary E., if you walk those trails on Saturdays and Sundays, you are safe. We're told to stay on sidewalks "in the late afternoon and after dark," so if those trails are made out of concrete, you are safe. The commissioners have lined sidewalks with bulletproof glass for your protection. I also heard that the historical bricks, salvaged from the roads that were replaced with asphalt, have been recycled and are being used in addition to the bulletproof glass. Note: no recycled bricks from pizza boxes were used. Recycled bricks from breadstick boxes and McDonalds sandwich boxes were permitted.

I watched the extended discussion topics segment of last night's commission discussion session. Not one word about deer. Suggestions included coming up with a new parks strategic plan. The old plan is from 2004. Air rights and a vibrant uptown district were mentioned for future topics. Engaging more residents to volunteer, and an evaluation of all of the policies for unity was also mentioned.

No deer reports. No PAYT. No brick streets.
