School district paid $40,000, just to get it over with

In 2015, the Mt. Lebanon School District hired a volleyball coach despite getting warnings that he had allegedly behaved inappropriately toward players two decades earlier. Later that year, Brian Begor was suspended and resigned after players accused him of “unwanted conduct of a sexual nature,” according to a federal lawsuit.

Mr. Begor was never charged with a crime, although four high school girls and their parents accused him of sexual misconduct in a 2016 federal lawsuit.

According to the Post-Gazette, each year, local school districts agree to settle allegations of negligence, discrimination and other wrongdoing by the district and its employees, with the median cost of settlements obtained by the Post-Gazette at about $15,000.

In February, Mt. Lebanon agreed to settle that suit for $40,000.  Just to resolve it.

“Details of the claim are confidential by court order. But, we can state that no wrongful acts by the district or Mr. Grogan were ever established, and the district has always denied any wrongdoing,” board president Michael Riemer said in an email Thursday. “In consultation with our insurer, however, we determined that it would be best to resolve this matter.”

It has been said that Timmy does not inform the school board directors as well as he should. Through the years, some school board directors have read things on my blog, Lebo Citizens, rather than hear it directly from Timmy.

And what about the case against John Grogan and Mt. Lebanon School District?

Resolved. We will never know how it was resolved.

In lawsuit, volleyball players accuse Mt. Lebanon coach of sexual misconduct

Before he was hired by Mt. Lebanon , the suit said, former players, coaches and parents told athletic director John Grogan about the 1995 incidents and told him not to hire Mr. Begor.
After the district hired him, according to the complaint, he began sexually suggestive conduct.

I wonder if John Grogan shared the warnings with the school district. Does anyone know who does the hiring? Is it Timmy, the school board, or HR? Whoever is responsible should resign. Whatever the case, our school board president (was and still is) made national news when this youtube video hit. "Our goal is clearly not to find a qualified and interested U.S. worker."

If the name Begor sounds familiar, Dawn Begor was the Devil's Advocate advisor when this news hit. Parent offended by article in The Devil's Advocate UPDATED I don't know if there is any relation.

I am sorry that our girls had to endure this abuse. I hope they collect HUGE damages from Mt. Lebanon. This is despicable.
