One very determined troll

As of November 8, 2018, I changed the settings on Lebo Citizens to No More Comments. On Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 6:22 PM, I missed a call dialed from the Mt. Lebanon Library. I was out and didn't hear my cell ring. When I came home, there was a call on my caller ID, also from Mt. Lebanon Public Library, at 6:23 PM.

No messages were left on either phone. I didn't think anything of it, until I opened my email this morning.

Your post on Dec 4 perfectly illustrates how out of touch and filled with
hate you are.

This is one, very determined troll. Obviously, I offended a Mt. Lebanon Public Library employee. Wow!

Gee, who could that be? Perhaps the Community Engagement Coordinator of Mt. Lebanon Public Library and potty-mouthed school board commenter, Beth "Shit Show" Evans.

Am I the only one offended by this?

This is in the Teen Section of Mt. Lebanon Public Library.

While I was away...UPDATED

On August 29, 2017, there was a white, sixty year old man outside of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library blocking people. From Facebook:
He was on his phone the whole time, saying very awful racial slurs etc and complaining about the types of people inside. He was loud and it was very scary for my son and I. He was there for well over an hour. I did end up calling the police, because no 60 year old man needs to be sitting at our library scaring people. Police did go and said he wasn't breaking any laws. HOWEVER... and this is the reason for my post .... the library director said it's against THEIR policy. No hate speech on their property and they implore us all go report him or anyone else directly to the desk as they can make him leave whereas the police can do nothing. It sucks. I can't even go to my own library anymore. Anyway, stay safe and if you hear him spewing his stuff report him. I have a picture but won't post it unless admin says it's ok.
Since I was away from my computer, I wasn't able to post this until now

Coincidence? I think not.

A Lebo Citizens reader brought the following to my attention based on the Commission meeting agenda for Monday, February 27, 2017 .  Aren't salaries over a million dollars?

I find it odd that we comment about the high salaries on your blog regarding the library then a few weeks later they want to pass an ordinance so the library follows municipal rules and policies so they have more oversight especially when it comes to hiring employees.

Coffee with the manager and rec staff

The other day, I went to my first "Coffee with the Manager."  I thought it was a nice gesture on the part of the Municipality and the Community Relations Board.  Thanks, folks!

I was disappointed by the turn out.  There were just a handful of us, in addition to the Rec staff and members of the Community Relations Board. Not one athletic supporter in sight, despite the nasty comments made  in the April 22, 2011 Lebo Citizens post, Timely letter to the editor.

I listened to the requests directed to Dave Donnellan and was shocked to hear about the poor conditions at the Rec Center, Golf Course, and Tennis Center.  I heard about holes in the walls, lack of hot water, walls and floors in terrible shape, lockers in terrible shape, etc.  The answer given by Mr. Donnellan was that we had no money in the budget to fix these things.  I couldn't take it any longer. I had to say something.  I said that this is why people are so upset with the McNeilly Field project.  Our assets are deteriorating.  Yet, we want to start working on something else instead.  Dave Donnellan said that the lack of fields is the reason Bird Park is a mess.  It is overused and nothing will help that except more fields. Steve Feller started to say that I made a good point and maybe we could turf Bird Park.  I interrupted him, (Sorry Steve) saying we have ONE Rec Center, ONE golf course, ONE library and ONE Tennis Center.  We need to maintain what we have or we will have another neglected high school scenario on our hands.

Naturally, I have many more questions. Are there other places that need tender loving care in Mt. Lebanon, besides the holes in the walls at the Rec Center, walls needing painted, or sadly - poorly maintained memorials?
How big is a soccer field?  Bigger than a football field?  How much would it cost to turf a soccer field?  Or repair the holes in the walls at the Rec Center, and all the other things mentioned at that meeting?
We will have a one time windfall due to pension contributions.  I want to say that it is $600,000, but I might have dreamt that number.  Could we take the $125,000 pledge made by the Soccer Association and add it to the wish list to fix up what we have already?

Martha says...

Yes, I admit it.  I am on Martha Stewart's mailing list.  Today's email had a list of 101 ways to get started going green.  Martha suggests getting a library card.  I suggest donating your savings to Mt. Lebanon Public Library.  Martha says to reclaim wood furniture.  I say to go out in your neighborhood on trash night and see all the goodies that can be recycled.  Martha says to vote for change.  I say, "Absolutely!"
Read 98 other ways to get started here.  101 Ways to Get Started Going Green

Update 3/29/11 I understand there is an ordinance against garbage picking.  I don't recommend driving through neighborhoods with a dump truck. We have lots of fun on our street when we are getting ready to put out our garbage. The neighbors will make an announcement and ask if there is any interest in such and such, before it goes to the curb.  It is an opportunity to get together with friends while going green.
