Who will she be representing?

As reported in the Post Gazette this morning, Mt. Lebanon Commission named Commissioner Kristen Linfante as a new school board liaison. Kristen is certainly qualified for the position.  On the Municipal website, her dossier is as follows:
  • Key Communicator, Mt. Lebanon School District
  • Utilities Management Group, Mt. Lebanon School District
  • PTA, Foster Elementary and Mellon Middle Schools
Later in the article,
Board President Josephine Posti said the board's working relationship with the municipality is better than it's ever been since she joined the board in 2005. Naming a liaison is a great idea, she said, noting that they already communicate often, even though it's not practical to attend each other's meetings faithfully.
"I think the goal would be to just dispel the perception that the two bodies don't talk to each other frequently," she said.
At the risk of sounding paranoid, I smell a rat.

I'm sure that Posti and Linfante will "talk to each other frequently". Just don't expect them to do it in view of the public. Josephine, you will remember, refused to attend the Joint Steering sessions because the commission would not participate if they continued to be held in secret. And Linfante was one of two authors on the blog Real Lebo, which closed rather than continue to allow comments from residents.

Better than it's ever been? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...oh, there truly must be something in the water. (This reminds of me of 2003 when Baghdad Bob was being interviewed, stating no American forces were in the city as an Abrams tank rolled by in the distance...hahaha...) This just keeps getting more and more ridiculous and entertaining. Of course, she could actually be right. I mean, if you go from not talking to any commissioners for any reason and then saying hello to one, I guess technically that qualifies as "better".

I'm sorry, I almost aspirated my coffee when I read that one. There should
really be warning labels on these articles.

And now for all those residents of Mt. Lebanon that didn't vote in November... you have clear evidence as to why your vote counts.

As an unpublished anonymous comment stated, no one was appointed, as of yet. I was at the meeting and don't remember a vote taken. Have I repressed that or are we remembering that accurately? I guess we need to watch the meeting on TV or go to the podcast.

No appointments were made for a liaison, or who would do it, whether it would be alternated among a couple of commissioners nor was there a time frame set for this “experiment” to terminate.  I think the only goals were to end with a Joint Steering Committee and it had to be open to the public.

I find it fascinating that the liaison on this make-or-break Mt. Lebanon project is the commissioner who has lived here the shortest amount of time. She's also new to the commission.

Perhaps the "liason" could ask Mrs. Posti why the board restricted campus parking to staff and teachers only, since according to one student "The walk from the church is pretty much the same as the walk from the student parking lot."
She might also confirm for Commissioner Blumfield whether his suspicion is correct that the teachers would file a geivance if not given the closest parking spaces!

Wasn't it President Posti that advised graduating seniors to only associate with liked-minded people? So much for new ideas, fair and equitable representation in the Duchy!
