Take a look at Durwood Hill's numbers on the republican side. He was probably the closest thing to a republican on the Birks team and he finished dead last.
Losing even to Free-spending, turncoat Mary Birks.
I doubt the MTL republicans have a clue as to what being a republican means.
7,480 total votes on Democratic ballot for school board candidates (6,446 if you deduct Remely's votes on the democratic ballot)
4,866 total votes on the Republican ballot for school board (just 1,341 votes if you deduct the cross filed democrats)
With those numbers and the fact that nearly 3,500 republicans cast ballots for candidates that don't subscribe to the principles of the party speaks volumes about how useless the MTLRC is.

Look how they drove out Hart and the lack of support for Fraasch and Silhol. Absolute silence iin standing by Goldman for a minor, minor incident while prominent democrats get a free pass.
Remely's walking around thinking people want him to stay on the school board because of the great job he's doing. Hey Dan, you finished 4th in total votes out of 5 candidates.
It'll be interesting to hear the school board candidates claim they speak for a "majority" of the community.
And Tommy Done, you should resign. Take Heather Heidelbaugh with you. did the MLRC actually vote on who to offer up to County Council? If so, then the problem isn't just the figurehead, it's the committee as a whole. Remely for state rep? Great call there, fools. And Harris? Wow. Of course, this is the same committee that backed a guy two years ago without delving into his past to discover his assault issue. The MLRC is a mess. I'm surprised they even fielded candidates this election. Time for a third party. It's coming and everyone can thank Tommy.

Instead of Tommy Dunn giving me a dirty look when I said good luck to him yesterday at Foster, maybe he should embrace Republicans who have been treated poorly by the committee instead. In a somewhat related election matter and in light of current IRS conduct regarding 501(c)(3)s, should there be a look back into the activities of the PTA in school board elections and other matters?

Two things - first, let me correct the information on "Nonpartisan" results:
Total ballots, Nonpartisan: 188
Turnout, Nonpartisan: 5.4%
Second, all of the numbers I provided are with respect to ballots (not votes) for Mt. Lebanon only. If you are looking at the 42nd PA House District race the numbers reported on the County website are for that district in total, which includes more than Mt. Lebanon.

It's still odd that having a truly viable and independent candidate to rally behind, so few "independents" chose to vote.
Boy, if you're a committee or campaign chair you've got to be scratchin' your head over using Cold Spark considering they couldn't get incumbent Harris back in.
Can't wait to see Harris's final campaign expense report and who paid for all the baby pic mailings. Her husband ought to go back to Georgetown and take a few more courses in how to run a successful political campaign seeing that he is batting zero for three locally (2 Raja, 1 wife).
To his credit, however, he did unseat big "R" Tom Stevenson for State Rep. as a candidate in a primary some years ago while still an undergrad student, only to lose to Matt Smith in the general election.
I don't want to bash Harris or his company. He's got a business that, by most standards, is pretty successful. He gets paid by people to help them get elected.
I don't think it was horrible campaigning that did in Harris. Means has been around a long time. As wing-nut crazy as she is, she has been wing-nut crazy at all the right places for the better part of 20 years. Plus, the idea that Means was running against the Republican establishment probably helped her considerably.
I hope Mark and Coldspark can fund and win many R campaigns in the future. He picked a losing fight this time.
As for Remely, it was a joke of a campaign from the beginning. His lack of funding was indicative of an underwhelming candidate for State office.
Despite Remely's statements to the contrary and in his literature, Dan Miller out fiscally-conservatived Dan Remely every day of week and twice on Sunday.
How are you going to win an election as an R when your D opponent has a better record on both taxes and spending than you do?
Something for the MtL R's to ponder, I suppose.
12:01 I'd agree with you analysis of Remely and Miller. There's a reason Miller is popular and we can only hope that the Dan Miller we came to appreciate here remains true to himself once he reaches Harrisburg. If he does, I'm betting he'll have a long, successful and popular career in politics. Can he fight off the temptations of partisan politics in the big leagues remains to be seen.

As for Dan Remely, it's a shame. He always made big campaign promises, talked like republican, but never walked the walk and people just tired of it IMO.
But onto your comments on Harris and his company. I too hope Coldspark many successful R campaigns. But, if it's going to continue to pursue attack strategies and nebulous baby picture campaigns IMO it's time for the R party to pursue other advisors.
Krista Harris may have been the greatest thing for county council since Jim Roddey's, but from her campaign you wouldn't know it.
Same with Remely's campaign (Coldspark run????)
As a voter wouldn't you rather a candidate define the issues and their strategic solutions than attack their opponent?
Companies like Coldspark use these strategies because-- #1 it's easy and #2 the candidate doesn't need to tell how they plan to affect change and most important #3 if they don't define their agenda it can't be played back down the road. So as long as low-informed voters base their choice on the number of yard signs, baby/family/dog portraits the campaign managers will continue to produce crap. They'll advertise our politicians like they sell soap, cars, cigarettes and erectile dysfunction drugs.
I might have to change my voting practice to go to vote for ABR.
